This is the unpleasant reality for corporate roles nowadays.

I had my share of this unpleasant situation today. I have been with the NHS for 20 months; started as a B5, progressed to B6 and recently secured a B7. I received the sad news today that the new Trust would not be able to sponsor for a finance role because there is no funding.

It is really unreasonable to deny a qualified candidate visa sponsorship because of £2k when the pay for that role is 25x the Immigration skills charge. Applicants should be the one complaining about the £4k visa and IHS fee, not the employer.

The only hope I have now is for my current employer to make good their promise of 1 year ago to sponsor my visa, otherwise, my friends who have been advising me to leave career and pursue care visa would say "We told you"

hope this is in black and white or documented? If not you have to begin to consider alternatives or options to remain legal in the uk

She’s trying to get the attention of the president but how many conflicts will the president step into? Rivers state is there and many other states with their political crisis.

It’s high time Nigerians and politicians themselves grow up and stop making local matters become national issues

Today, I just want to share with you what happens in the UK job market. People here should stop blaming people who decide to go for care visa without trying professional jobs.. The truth is the spirit of labour market test is still in place. My flatmate mate got a job within the civil service and resumed. When it came to the issue of sponsorship the Labour market test was applied on him. He was told he could not be sponsored and that the role is not a hard to fill role and could be sourced from the UK labour market. He showed me the letter which i read.. This is just to tell someone looking for sponsorship. Pray for direction what works for A may not work for B. even if the company has a license. .

This is even beyond sponsorship, not trying to raise an alarm but looks like there’s a silent trend going on underground to begin to even deny ethnic minorities career opportunities. No thanks to the demonisation of DEI in America which is beginning to creep in here unnoticed as organisations have no choice than to dance to the tune of the so called Global powers. No matter where you are and what status there is need to be open minded and keep your options open even outside the uk. Even the streets like we say in naija are not smiling! My thoughts, experience and observations which may differ from other peoples’ views and experiences.

3 excellent players in a team is not only enough to get decent results, but enough to win tournaments even, having up to 5 is a plus.

But do we really have up to 3 excellent players in our team we can rely on at all times.
We have Osimhen, Lookman maybe, who else makes them 3.

This is my ideal of 3 excellent,or top class players in our team.

SA 2013
Mikel,Enyeama, Moses.

Atalata '96
Kanu,Babayaro,Okocha/Oliseh
Taribo/Okechukwu

I hear what you say it's about the flexibility for me. Had we converted all our numerous chances against Equitorial Guinea last AFCON and beat them with a wide scoreline maybe JP would have stuck with that particular formation.

Yes player profile matters but I think against the lesser opposition we should be dominating with overwhelming attacking threat that by the time you hammer them 3-4 goals it wouldn't matter if they get the odd goal. Except for the madness that was the Sierra Leone game under Rohr

Nigeria against African opponents hardly concede more than 1-2 goals which to me is more of a attack than defense issue.

The Zimbabwe game yes the away team had their chances but we at least had about 5-6 chances on target. If we had a conversion rate of even just 50% it wouldn't have mattered if Zimbabwe got the odd goal.

We should be dominating against lesser opposition you say but we aren’t cos we think we have the personnel but we don’t in reality. The way the Zimbabweans were even so comfortable knocking the ball around as if they were the home side says a lot about the profile of our team. If we are honest we don’t have more than 3 excellent players, most are just average at best. Though 3 excellent players in a team can be enough to get decent results but once one or two are marked out it becomes more difficult.

How the Afcon team of Peseiro was tagged boring is a mystery to me. Bro go and watch our matches from the second round. My goodness. Quick, hot football.

We weren't scoring high but we played well and our defense was water tight. Abi na to score 4 and concede 3 be exciting football?

And then maybe we overestimate ourselves oo thinking this thing is easy. E no easy oo.

Okocha said that when they won Afcon in 94, they thought it'd be easy to win it again. Whosai, they didn't win it again.

No African team has gotten to the semifinals of Afcon more than the eagles which shows how exceptional we are and how difficult Afcon is. Even Egypt with all their fanciful play and number of Afcon trophies still Dey collect wotowoto. It takes big heart from coaches and players to win Afcon. It’s no tea party. Let CAF even throw invitations to one or two European teams make dem try their luck omo dem no go find am easy. I thought mikel was overestimating Afcon when he said it’s like winning the champions league now I know better.

By now we would have perfected it. We got the first glimpse of the suitability of this formation for our team when Rohr first deployed it in the friendly against Argentina. We came from 2 goals down to soundly defeat them 4-2. Instead of Rohr to continue with it, he chickened out and our Russia 2018 is best forgotten.

Peseiro started with other formations right into the first match of Afcon 2023 but we were leaking goals. The man became pragmatic, adopted the 5-3-2 and our team took to it like a duck to water. Defense was tight. Midfield was solid with Onyeka doing the heavy lifting. In attack Osimhen was pressing and Lookman was doing the damage. This was how we got to the finals and we'd have won it but for exhaustion.

After Afcon, Finidi decided to change the set up and reinvent the wheel. Everything fell apart. We collect woto woto.

The same thing will happen to Chelle. I don talk am unless he realizes that our attack is not the only thing about our football. We must be tight at the back.

This is why I never fancied his appointment but everyone got carried away with champagne football. The first half against Zimbabwe was not too tight we committed too many players forward but for poor Zimbabwe we should have conceded. It was our early goal in Rwanda by osihmen that deflated the Rwandans, osihmen tried an early blinder in uyo but the Zimbabwe keeper was alert. This team is not resilient enough and the coach needs to tweak his strategy if not we’ll continue to leak goals. We need robust players again in the mould of onazi or more players like Onyeka to hold down that middle, all these Nwaneri he’s pursuing in London is not the solution o!

Bad performances don't always remain static. If you judge a team's future performance strictly on past awful results then we might as well pack it in and not any team because I'm sure every fan has a story to tell.

Even when we had good results we judge the team and say the coach and team are boring and can’t go far so is it when we have poor results we should be confident? Both good and bad results Nigerians will always judge

Thanks Justwise. I already have a biometrics for renewal booked in London for April 26. The current port expires in June and my intended travel date to Naija and back is 9 - 26 May. I fear the current port will be invalidated after my renewal biometrics.

When you go for your appointment on April 26 you can ask the officials there to allay your fears but am very sure you will get your port before you travel as its just 24-48 hrs to receive your new port after biometrics.

The coaches lacks tactics.I Westerhoff used only Sunday Oliseh in the middle during WC instructing Siasia, Amunike and Finidi to Oliseh if we are losing possession and it works.

I think we are arrogant believing we can override smaller countries using formations that we lack players to execute it,now am beginning to understand Peseiro style of play during Afcon, prior to Afcon he was finding it difficult to get results reason why he drew Zimbabwe and Lesotho....He realized he lacked possessive midfielders and only way out is to have 3 man defenders with 5 players in the middle ing the attack and defence
.

Well said 💯 I couldn’t have put this better!

We need to evolve beyond 4 4 2 as soon as possible.
Then the 1994 set can be a stumbling block. It can be a psychological barrier.
It is as if we think we cannot achieve more than them. We seem to believe getting to the semi finals of the world cup or wining 3 successive editions of the nations cup is impossible. We are not thinking of achieving more than that generation. We see their achievements as the limit
. That is mythical, unscientific and very weird. It's as if we see getting to the second round of the world cup as mythical and impossible to sur. One football commentator said nigeria getting to the final of the world cup was unrealistic. I'm happy morocco which does not do well in the nations cup proved us wrong.
The 94 set is a stumbling block and not an inspiration and this is the tragedy.
We need to make our history and forget about 94. We can do better.
There are psychological barriers that need to be broken. It's funny and sad.

At least victor osimhen and ademola lookman broke the barrier by winning african footballer of the year. Some people before osimhens time might believe we can't win african footballer of the year because the gods of 94 cannot be surparssed

Blame the media, ex players and the fans too, even where the Eagles have succeeded they keep downgrading their success, the Afcon 2013 winning team was dubbed a boring side and the coach called names, that team achieved what the 1994 team did including second round exit at the World Cup. This is why we keep finding it difficult to replicate such feat or even build more on it, the closest we have come again is getting to Afcon finals last year still we said it was a boring pattern of play and called the coach all sort of names. We need to stop living in denial and build on any success we achieve. We don’t have to like a coach before giving him his credit and due. Tangible Results must be criteria for defining true success and not entertaining football. The Moroccans didn’t get to the World Cup semis with entertaining football

semid4lyfe:

Since the final days of Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles have struggled defensively, finding it difficult to keep a clean sheet.

◾Sierra Leone came from behind to draw 4-4 in Benin City.
◾Benin Republic defeated us 1-0 in Porto-Novo.
◾Cape Verde beat us 2-1 in Mindelo.
◾Central African Republic stunned us 1-0 in Lagos.
◾Cape Verde held us to a 1-1 draw in Lagos.

Even under José Peseiro, the same defensive frailties persisted, with the team conceding goals to supposed african minnows we should have handled comfortably:

◾Nigeria 2-1 Sierra Leone
◾Nigeria 0-1 Guinea-Bissau
◾Sierra Leone 2-3 Nigeria
◾Mozambique 2-3 Nigeria
◾Nigeria 1-1 Lesotho
◾Zimbabwe 1-1 Nigeria
◾Guinea 2-0 Nigeria

The breaking point came at AFCON when we drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea. That was when Peseiro finally acknowledged we had a defensive problem.

His solution? Switch to a five-man defense—three center-backs and two wing-backs (Ajayi, Ekong, Bassey, Aina, and Zaidu). The result? A vastly improved defense that didn't concede until the semi-finals.

Finidi George should have stuck with that system, but instead, he let armchair analysts dictate his tactics with their "You can't play five at the back against African minnows." "The best teams in the world play a back four", "Our strength is in our attack"etc nonsense talk, And so, he reverted to a four-man defense —conceding three goals in two games and managing just one point.

Now, enter Eric Chelle. After two games, he already looks like a rigid coach stuck on playing a 4-4-2 diamond—even with the wrong personnel. If we were to face Spain or Argentina, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stubbornly sticks to the same 4-4-2.

His squad selection also raises eyebrows. Dropping Frank Onyeka from the 23-man squad makes me wonder if he even reviewed our AFCON matches. How do you watch those games and decide Onyeka isn’t needed? He was our midfield engine—running, marking, covering every blade of grass, harassing opponents non-stop.

Even his lineup choices are questionable. Sticking with the same starting XI from the Rwanda game against Zimbabwe suggests he didn’t study the Rwanda match properly. If he had, Chukwueze, Osayi, and Ndidi shouldn’t have started against Zimbabwe.

Furthermore. his game management seems poor. Sometimes, 1 goal is enough. The team just needs to play defensively, park the bus, protect the lead and grind out the result.

Moving forward, Eric Chelle must be dynamic and show tactical flexibility, play players in their best positions, make bold decisions, and bench underperformers when necessary. The Super Eagles cannot afford another tactically stubborn coach.

South Africa scares me. That team is more or less a club team so their understanding and chemistry is high.

They press, mark, joggle and the ball well. They're a well drilled team.

If I were Eric Chelle, I'll go full Italian Catenaccio on their asses by adopting and playing a tactical formation that prioritizes a solid defense, disciplined man-marking and counter attacks.

Super Eagles have to beat SA in SA, there's no other way.

You just explained why we are where we are today. I warned then that we shouldn’t throw away all we achieved at Afcon but of course our arrogance won’t let us be.
