Thanks Justwise. I already have a biometrics for renewal booked in London for April 26. The current port expires in June and my intended travel date to Naija and back is 9 - 26 May. I fear the current port will be invalidated after my renewal biometrics.

When you go for your appointment on April 26 you can ask the officials there to allay your fears but am very sure you will get your port before you travel as its just 24-48 hrs to receive your new port after biometrics.

I am giving the less a thought. my fear is that I have not seen reviews about the outcome of the process from people yet and since my appointment date is close. I am flexible on the travel date to be fair. Moving my flight date won't be an issue.

Just to add this here.

I used the less app and got my port delivered. It took around 2 weeks and that was cos I didn’t add the great “£20 postal order”, would probably be lesser (maybe a week).

Hi, I’ll be relocating to the UK in April as a student and I need accommodation in and around Chester. If you have any leads kindly share with me.
This is quite urgent as I’ll be traveling in a week’s time.
Thank you
Have you checked spareroom.com?

I know someone that attended university of Chester. The place is a small town and finding accommodation shouldn't be super hard.

Sounds interesting.
Just to confirm - with the app, what do you ? Or is it just to book a an appointment as usual? Is there still no option to be spared the agony of having to show at the HC?

Hi guys, I’m in the process of applying for my MIL visiting visa. Is there a rule that states that first time applicant must be 6 months visitor’s visa. I am planning to apply for 2 years visa ( plan is for her visit multiple times during the period). Everyone I have come across seems to do 6 months first, then the 2 years visa for subsequent ones. Thanks.

Please how did you manage to do the biometrics? Mine keeps failing after taking my finger prints with 52% to 70% match. And after that, I can't proceed or re do it until I delete the application. Any tips will be appreciated.

When I first applied for a relative, it was 6 months and when the visa was issued, there was also a note that said I could apply for multiple years instead of 6 months. This was some years ago. So yes it is possible.

I checked him on LinkedIn and I had to wonder why he’d sacrifice a wonderful career for quick money.

The uk is a conservative society if one is not content and is too greedy ending up as a scammer is so easy

Maybe don't go for the renewal until you are back from your trip. You will be allowed still.

Panic for where? I believe he anticipated this situation by moving to the US on a Green Card visa late last year.

😂 see levels but this could be related to the fact that he also have a start up domiciled in the US. Dude has learnt really well from politicians!

Pointless, that can only delay his punishment, he can only run but can’t hide. His victims will still go after him.

If gets a job his employer will get to know about his glorious past.

I appreciate this is also an option but I have been getting reminders from my employer's immigration team to provide my port once renewed since November last year. The travel can wait if needed. This is the main reason I would prefer to sort the port renewal out out before travelling

Just a suggestion, you already have an appointment why don’t you wait to attend that first, going on the less app might amount to double application unless if there’s a feature on the app that recognises an existing application. Just my thoughts

Today, I just want to share with you what happens in the UK job market. People here should stop blaming people who decide to go for care visa without trying professional jobs.. The truth is the spirit of labour market test is still in place. My flatmate mate got a job within the civil service and resumed. When it came to the issue of sponsorship the Labour market test was applied on him. He was told he could not be sponsored and that the role is not a hard to fill role and could be sourced from the UK labour market. He showed me the letter which i read.. This is just to tell someone looking for sponsorship. Pray for direction what works for A may not work for B. even if the company has a license. .

Isn't this the standard? Not all roles can be sponsored.

And with the job cuts/freezes the government has announced for the civil service and NHS, they will increasingly have to prioritise the employment of locals over sponsoring foreign nationals.

That is not the standard. They said the role met all requirements but not the labour market . The salary is well over the threshold and listed on that list. It is a role you have to get into with a qualification. So it is not one those generic roles. If it was dwp, the story will not be the same.

I see what you mean now.

People should still be trying professional jobs though. At interview the issue of COS should be addressed since it is key and not left for later. At least that way, one can make an informed decision.
