If N10k last you for 2 weeks which simply means 20k per month, then that is fair pricing when you have like 20hrs per day. Electricity is not cheap anywhere. Na decades of subsidy make this pricing look weird.

We just need to ensure we increase wages so people can afford basic things like electricity.

Affordability is the main problem here. If we can have massive jobs and increased wages, then it will be easier for the populace to afford things.

Bro are you a foreigner or you've never lived in Nig. how can you opine increased wages as solution to combat high cost of living here

the moment govt announces increment in wages a corresponding increase in prices of goods, service and rent follows

Nigeria is not a sane clime, lets leave economic theories for sane people

The fact that some nigerians in their right mind still defend this stupidity called cost reflective tariff annoys me. When it's time to justify wickness you make comparison with the rest of the world but when the masses demands what's obtainable in the rest of the world pertaining their welfare you simply they are living in Nigeria and not spending dollars.

Has power generation improved significantly? I relatively have same hours of power since 2010 in my area, yet bill is shooting off the roof.

You know the joy of it is that we are all in this mess together. How do you justify this massive inflationary effects in 10years of a particular political party's rule.

Only kids and fraudsters will not complain of this regime. To an adult Nigerian now 10, 20, 50 and 100 naira notes are virtually useless.

A country wants to bill us like the western world yet her minimum wage is less than 50 dollars. Let's all continue pretending that all is well. A big burst is coming soon.

I was told the same by a friend recently. He talk say N50 is the only lowest denomination that's useful. Anything below no get use.

N10,000 only gives me around 40kwh of electricity which lasts me for only 2weeks to power

•my AC for like 1hr daily
•Fridge is powered for around 10hrs
•Ceiling fan is powered for around 15hrs daily
•And 3 light bulb around for 7hrs.

I spend around 20k monthly on just light bill.
Light bill and rent alone cost around 55k per month, rent is 400k per year. it outrageous.

Is this not one of the Tinubu cheap online defender lamenting? You cry never start. Ekperima.

If the country wants vastly improved power supply, its citizens must be ready to pay cost reflective rates for it.

We may not like it but that's what is needed. The FG owing Genco's 4tr is because power is heavily subsidized. I think it is only Band A that is cost reflective.
Man, if you see the kind of inefficient that goes on in this power sector, you will not be talking of cost reflective.
Take it anywhere, electricity is cheap. It is not a thing that worry people in other countries.

Sorry, but that's not entirely true. Electricity is only cheap in countries with abundant natural resources (coal, crude oil and plentiful of high flowing rivers) and a low population. The moment the population is above say 50 million, even if the county has abundant natural resources, electricity costs are bound to increase.

In a sane country, electricity is electricity. Having constant, ceaseless power isn't rocket science. It's unfortunate that 60+ years after independence, we've not gotten it right.

And I have a video of the current president telling us to vote him out if he can't provide electricity after his 1st tenure.

And is the light not stable for you now? He never promised cheap light but stable light after 4 years . You can see people's comments, not that the light is not stable but is very expensive , though we still have many areas that have not been seeing the light like me,but I ma sure before he finish his 4 years he must have rectify it ,but it will not be cheap.

Efficient light first before subsidy
abdsamad(m): 7:49am On May 09
I spend 30k per month, and it's honestly fair. Had to get rid of the ACs though cos those would have easily doubled my usage.
Perhaps when my income improves I'll get efficient ACs that won't threaten to send me back to the village.

If they can make power reliably available, some extra cost wouldn't be unfair

We always try to quote the white when comparing our givt with them but can we sacrifice what they did.Average children of America is 2 while average children of Nigeria is 3,yet we want out country to be like them.
Infact ,China made laws that you can give more than 2 .let our givt mada that law here , Nigeria will go on strike.

Govt just made it easier for parents.nelfund is there to train your child

Band A to Z Bandit Electricity Billing is one of the biggest frauds of this APC government. How people let this happen lying low is something I'll never understand. Your government is using discrimination to give you essential services and you people say no, it's private sector, it's disco and sisqo ahh

Let them move everbody to band A and pay the same amount

You can sell that narrative to Naive minds, improvement is not sole base on tariff as some of you mischievous posit.

Service improvement relies basically on adequate installations, transmission and prompt maintainance

With corruption heavily rooted in the Power sector there is no credible way any Prof. can substantiate cost reflective ... how?? on what metrics ??

i have it here before, no amount of increment will ever be enough with leakages/corruption in power sect

That arguement of cost reflective can not stand, we have customers bying and we have cabals in power sector looting fondily ...the good customers are just the ones suffering the brunt of those two

if they increase the tariff today again before december you will hear complaining again, its like fetching water into a basket and you think the tap is the problem why e no quick full .. so you keep changing tap sizes undecided

We are not serious in this country

Sometimes it seems some are paid to deceive others,5k on band A,means 20kwh.Just pumping water alone from the borehole can take 90% of that within 2wks,Once you on the AC for 4 hours a day,it can take more than 2 units daily, then your fridges ,television, lightnings and other electrical appliances will burn up the rest within 5 days .
How then did you come up with what you are saying?

When people are doing illegal and come outside to it it, this is the result!!

Like I said before, the egbon's friend abi brother is a meter by master!!

Chief, I'll vex for you o 😂

I've not had constant electricity since Tuesday. As I'm talking, there's no electricity.

Let me shock you further - in the last year, I've paid more for electricity/transformer/pole replacement than I've paid for my prepaid meter. All on top epileptic supply.

I seriously hope he'll make magic before 2027 and electricity is constant. Even if not cheap, let it be constant.

If not, he'll go back to his Village.

I on AC for only 5mins and put it off when the room is cold, I do this like 7-10 times a day.
You actually consume more power this way. Appliances that use compressors, such as ACs and refrigerators/freezers consume more power to start up but once they start, consume less. So you are better off letting it run for one hour straight rather than 5 minutes x 10.

embarassed Don't worry as it won't last, it's one of the sacrifices you have to make to ensure that Peter Obi learns a bitter political lesson.

Our darling drug dealer will make it better as he worked at Mobile and performed similar magic in Lagos.

I can't understand all this una issue with Obi.. what did he do when he was the governor for 8years? Yes, Tinubu is not doing well as a president but what has Obi did that you guys are saying it must be him??

Is leaving money inside government treasury when leaving office as governor an achievement?? When many villages and communities in Anambra are lacking clean water to drink and one man is leaving money that could be used for such project lying in an just to yield him interest.. Una better check una brain well well oo
