You can only talk about high by comparison to a benchmark

What is it supposed to be?

On what basis?

People like to talk without facts or figures

Is it that the price is high or that people are broke?

The price of petrol is based on the price of crude oil. That is the starting point

So what is the cost of production?

If you are in your house and you desire a litre of rain water there is a price or cost for it. It is not free

I laugh because this is an old scam that Indians and Lebanese were running in Nigeria in the 70s and 80s

Those people taught us fraud

They also used to sell a lot magic rings, pens, handkerchiefs etc

I am talking when 1 dollar was like 75 kobo so scamming Nigerians was huge
Many Indians claiming to have PhD used to Japa to Nigeria to teach in primary schools

Guess its payback time

Funny Senators

owobokiri:

Senators from the South-east geopolitical zone yesterday drew the attention of the Senate to successive strategic exclusion of the region from key development projects of the federal government.

The latest according to them, was the N3.2 trillion Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Funded irrigation development projects under the 2025 Appropriation Act. Their protest was sequel to a motion moved by Kenneth Eze from Ebonyi State.

Rising under Orders 41 and 51, the senator expressed frustration over what he described as mounting complaints from his constituents and the wider South-East geopolitical zone over recurring marginalisation of the region.

Eze noted that Section 4 of the 1999 Constitution empowers the National Assembly to make laws for equitable national development. Sections 14(3 and 4), he added, mandate fairness and justice in resource distribution.

He added that the 2025 budget allocates N3.2 trillion under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund, with N38 billion set aside for irrigation projects nationwide.

However, Eze pointed out, while the programme is designed as a national initiative, its implementation plan excludes the Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority. He said it is the only authority serving the entire South-east.

He described the omission as “unjustifiable” and contrary to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which emphasises equity and inclusivity.

Eze said: “The South-east, with its vast arable land and long-standing contributions to Nigeria’s agriculture sector, deserves to benefit from this fund.” He cited statistics showing the region s for 30 per cent of national yam production and over 15 per cent of cassava output. He also referenced major agricultural initiatives operating in the region.

Eze listed key irrigation and agricultural projects in the Southeast—such as the Auzara and Okaku Agribusiness clusters, and the Ivo Dam Irrigation Project—that could significantly benefit from the fund if included.

Does not make sense

Nigerian Petrol refinery price is similar to America
The Ex refinery price of gasoline is $2 a gallon which works out at less than 850 per litre

So why can't Dangote sell to other West African nations

They petitioned his former work place on what grounds and with what evidence? Why did he resign if he was without issue? What was the disgrace he resigned in order to avoid? undecided
That is important but not relevant to this story
It only shows how your mind works

We can write a Phd on that question but what purpose does it serve?

It takes away from the main issue

Another female diversionary tactic.

It is disgrace enough that your wife and daughter are petitioning your work place.
The question is is that normal behaviour

Any man with pride would not want to go through the indignity of having his marital issues spread out at his work place in front of people that respect him

The fact that you don't get that suggest you think it is normal for a woman to do that to her husband and probably would

The normal thing to do is to divorce him and or if he was doing anything criminal report him to the police
Going to his work place is Natasha Akpoti behaviour intended to destroy him and we are now seeing a repeat with the daughter. Is she not disgracing her husband

My take is you do not have a good family name and do not understand the concept of reputation or shame. If you did you would not ask such a silly question

Out of Interest
Based on Wike's performance?
Will Tinubu stand a better chance in 2027 than 2023 in the FCT/Abuja?

I think he will not only get 25% but win the FCT

All of this noise is not about getting a better Nigeria but the PTSD of the 2023 election loss that ails Obidients

They are still very bitter and frustrated

Did Tinubu win the election in 2023 or was it rigged
you need to make up your minds

If as you claim it was rigged why are you talking about elections

If he could rig when he was not president then he will rig when he is

Bottomline your talk about elections suggests some confidence in the process and ission that Obi did not really win in 2023

He actually has a point, USa helped rebuild after WW2. NATO depend heavily on US yet they tax US companies very heavy to protect their own interest. They benefit more from USA than USA benefit from them, Trump might be a mad man but he is totally right on this. Europe Union is time to pay your own fair share
They tax US companies very heavy? So Trump is fighting for them to reduce the tax?

What exactly is the corporate tax rate in the US compared to the EU?

Do they tax US companies in the EU at a different rate from European companies in the EU.

The US GDP at the end of World War II (1945) was around $228 billion, which translates to approximately $3.85 trillion in today's Today the US GDP is $27 trillion The US has benefitted from Europe and it rebuilt out of SELF INTEREST.
The main beneficiary of the US Marshal Plan was the US because that led to the eventual establishment of the dollar as the World's reserve currency. That position is the Prize of World War TWO Not because the US is so much greater than Europe in innovation or technology. NO! The US controls the Central Bank of the world and forces the World to lend it money that it cannot realistically pay and likely will default.

Current Debt is $36 Trillion

Many of you think sounding controversial is cool

It would be if you actually had a smidgeon of understanding of the issues

You don't . You are just parroting ideas that are not yours

Trump is not mad he is WRONG .

I can't blame Trump on this one. The EU is actually a tough place to do business.

Imagine trying to negotiate with about 30 countries over unfair trade practices. There's bound to be a lot of bottle necks.

Starting or ing a company in Europe is expensive, taxes are high, you also have customer data protection laws that your company can break without even realising and you will be fined heavily for it.

Ease of doing business is something else. It's probably Estonia and a handful of countries who are trying to break some of these barriers.
You really do not know what you are talking about. Totally ignorant and clueless trying to sound as if you know what you are saying

Which EU country have you ever tried to a b company in ? I have ed SEVERAL companies in the UK BEFORE it left the EU less than a week not expensive at all

Taxes are high you say COMPARED TO WHAT

Please tell us the tax rate in the US compared to the EU

The real point here is this. Triump is threatening Apple . If it was so good to do business in America why does he need to threaten>

The same thing applies to Google Meta Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson Abbott with very significant presence in the Republic of Ireland what are they running away from

Customer data protection laws are a bad thing

Bottomline IF America was so good to do business in there would be no need for threats

Can't they just put an end to this practice that is not legalised?

In many cases, the boys are been disappointed

I don't seem to see any need for it anymore
Good point

Just pay them a salary and also let them pay tax . Government needs the revenue and that is a way of cheating government

Igbos hate injustice, the market union will close Oga shop if he doesn't comply by adequately compensating his apprentice, the market people possibly know that the Nwaboi was not corrupt, even if that Nwaboi is Yoruba or Hausa they will stand for him against their kinsmen, this is what makes them progressive
Stop deceiving yourselves and trying to rewrite the story

You see an Igbo doing wrong and are trying to counter any truth before it comes

Justice is writing a contract from day one not a nebulous open ended agreement that is weak in court

If Igbos hate injustice so much how come there is no Ombudsman or Adjudication or Formal dispute resolution mechanism after all this years?

The Obvious question is this
HOW MUCH MONEY IS RIGHT ?

The answer?? It depends......................

Depends on what?

No answer

That is what you get when there is no written contract

That puts all the power on the side of the Oga he gives what HE THINKS IS OKAY and if the Nwa boi is unhappy he can only fall to the court of public suasion and morality

It is an outdated scheme that needs to modernize.

A situation where you serve for 7 years and you have no agreement IS SLAVERY

That's my people, we stand for what is right. The entire market believes the boy is right, because they were all there when the whole thing happened.

INEC didn't use technical glitches to ruin this issue, the judiciary wont change this matter with technicalities and award the Oga the victory because he's affluent.
False reverse psychology

The Truth is one of YOUR PEOPLE tried to cheat a so called apprentice after serving him for many years

Instead of taking responsibility for a flawed system you are trying to spin the story

The reality is that the so called Igbo apprentice system is outdated and open to abuse

What is needed in 2025 is not an intangible unwritten agreement but

1. Legislation that covers the practice
2. Clear written contracts that are enforceable within the legislation

The settlement figure should not depend on the whims or goodwill of the Oga

As a matter of fact I would encourage Lagos state to BAN THE PRACTICE

Any so called apprentice MUST be at least 16 years old, ed with the government paid a salary, and pay tax to Lagos State government

The government should take charge of the scheme like NYSC. You want to do apprenticeship apply to the government and government post you and you get similar protection and supervision like Youth Corpers

in your opinion, what will make the application to follow this regional pattern? Poverty shouldnt. What is ission rate in those schools. The NUC needs to step in with data about student population or lecture hall capacities. NYSC too needs to step in. They have valuable data that can guide us about the possibility of the schools even having so much students.
I would be guessing. I do not know
My education tells me that research is the best way to answer that question. NOT guessing
.
Your problem is you cannot distinguish between opinion and reality. That is a common problem in Nigeria

Like I said there can be all kinds of hypotheses but the fact is this is just One year. Statistically it is meaningless

It is just like concluding after observing Rainfall only on Wednesday for one month

That IT ALWAYS RAINS ON WEDNESDAYS or that THERE IS A PATTERN

Who said there is a pattern?? The earth is 4 billion years old you cannot say there is a pattern from one month's observation
