But that comparison no make sense at all. Except U dey live for London house rent, bills and naija food U can't spend £1200 and the remaining na savings with better enjoyment. If U try save 500£ na almost 1million naira be that which is even more than the salary for naija with all the food stuff inflation.
House rent =600-650£
Bill= 250£
Food=100-150£
Council tax= 150£.
Salary= £2000
Tax=350£
Net Money= 1650£
Expenditure= 1200£
Savings= 1650-1200= 450£
Savings in naira = 450*1850~#900k.
UK anyday anytime twice on monday

Professionals don't earn 2000
Meaning they were well to do in Nigeria before relocating.
2000 is for the averages. No professionals or business guys earn 2000, maybe in days or weeks.
We are talking average earners, not professionals.
... nonsense talk a band 5 professional nurse earns 30k a year which equates to about 2k a month, an FY2 Doctor is on 33k and a police officer salary is about 30 k starting.

Are you saving it here so you can spend it there?
The same 300 you're saying here, they can also save the % overthere.
Question goes back to, can you actually live a comfortable life with 1700 out of 2000?
Someoen earning ₦500k can comfortably save ₦80k+₦100k too while living a more comfortable life than the one earning 2000 and saving 300
Please do the arithmetic for me, how can someone living on 500k live a comfortable life in Nigeria, because the last time I checked a flight ticket to London for holiday is over a million, a comfortable SUV is over 10 million, rent for a 2 bed flat in Ajah or anywhere in the island is over 2mllion, and installing Solar system in flat is over 4million I never put children school fees and the rest. Please break it down for me.

The proposed amount as minimum wage is grossly inadequate. Bachelors like corps can't even cope with that figure let alone family Men with children. Minimum wage should not be less than two hundred kky, or close to that figure. Any amount less than #120,000 is a joke and daylight scam.
I left..!
Put up a position for Security officer at 50k a month make you see how many people go rush.

It is very difficult to see children of our politicians from governor, senator, minister to president in our universities and they claim to love this country.
Anyway, congrats to her and her Dad the man that raised her.
I concur, they see their own universities as not worthy for consideration of their children's education and they are the Governor of the state. These people have no shame.

Why would a normal person prefer to be squatting and 'crashing' on friend's sofas for 38years?!
I really can't say I blame the UK government if they decide to deport him
What was he doing all this while before he had a stroke in 2019, you didn't sort out your papers, get on the property ladder, build houses or business in Nigeria, I'm confused. Back in the 80s it was easy to get paper, look for a struggling white British citizen woman give them a couple of thousand of pounds to get married to and divorce after a couple of years.

Problem with the more-money advocates is they don't realise it only solves temporarily the problem of lack and imposes inflation on the long run. Tripling the minimum wage may sound sweet for the moment, but when a very simple economy releases so much money into the hands of people termed "workers" and they hit the market to make demand, the trend of inflation over the past 6 years that has eaten the profit margin of the sellers and distributors will propel them to attempt to jerk up prices then regain their former status and possibly improve it. That will lead to a new inflation cycle and N100k may never buy you what even N20k can as of today. Same mistake we made promting money to pay people who don't help production of essentials in anyway.
No one is talking about the problem of low productivity of essentials that brings about low supply and thus higher prices. What about rent seekers that just form strong units and extort productive people? People like louts, bandits, secret societies,idle police officers, career grassroot politicians etc ?
.... you are talking sense, the union should be talking to their of efficiency savings like ghost workers, unproductivity workers, workers that don't show up for work but expect to get paid, and latest one is workers that have resigned but still collecting salary

Honestey: Ododo: Good morning Mr president Tinubu: Good morning how was your trip.? Why are you here? Ododo: Sir, I came to seek your forgiveness over my action towards EFCC when they came to arrest that white-rat. There was nothing I could than to at least try protect the man who helped me to become the governor of Kogi. Tinubu: You know that was wrong and you might be questioned about it after the expiration of your tenure as governor. Ododo: Sir actually that's why I'm here I don't know what I can do because he is sleeping in our government house female toilet and my wife is troubling me about that. Our budget for food is looking like a nothing now that we have to share everything with someone who should have gone elsewhere. In fact he is trying to establish a office within the government house where he will be giving me order on what to do. I'm getting frustrated already. Tinubu: I can imagine how you are feeling but that's how rats are, especially the white one calling itself a white lion. My advice is that henceforth stop feeding him and stop cleaning that female toilet. Let you wife enter shit there and leave it unflushed. I bet he will find his way out. Ododo: Ok sir, I will do that

Me I don't understand how this Godfatherism work, Nigeria is a funny and convoluted place. A commissioner is more loyal to a Godfather that is no longer in power than his employer the Governor. So how will there be order, mutual respect, and discipline between the Governor and his commissioner if the commissioner allegiance is to the Godfather who placed him there in the first place. This is the problem with most juicy positions in Nigeria, CBN, NNPC, CUSTOM, NIRS, etc.
When you have been recommended and installed by a powerful politician it is difficult to take orders from your immediate supervisor who you see as nobody compared to the powerful politician that facilitated your employment.

This is what extreme frustration can do.
A trained Engineer doing a security work in the cold, he will definitely gets frustrated.
The wife might even be taunting him for not bringing enough to settle their bills, which will aggravate his frustration.
I assume he was earning good money in Nigeria as a trained engineer before moving to the UK.
This is one of the dark sides of relocation which people do not pay attention to.
If you are in the middle class in Nigeria and earning averagely good money, think twice before you relocate. You can only relocate if you are legitimately getting married to your spouse who is a legal resident or you have a job which pays better as a middle class over there.
The grass is not always greener at the other side.
.... People keeping on saying a trained engineer, he may be a trained engineer on paper but the jobs to sustain himself in Nigeria was not forthcoming because of they were, there wouldn't have been a reason to japa the first place.
