As long as prospective buyers continue to encourage such sharp practices, a culture that is berreft of sanctity, it will continue to undermine a fair business process. I find such conduct highly objectionable, and once I encounter such, I immediately withdraw my interest. Imagine someone demanding settlement as high as ₦500,000 merely because you posted a car on a "free forum." The settlement is for what? Agency that you were not angaged on or personal sales tax!!! Now, such ignoble acts are being paraded on nairaland too. I simply fail to understand the rationale behind the ideology, which is fast becoming a useless norm. Just hustlers trying to reap off prospective buyers. For me, I categorically state that I will not engage in or entertain any form of settlement, regardless of the amount, even if it is as little as ₦5,000. And such practices should be wholly rejected by every intending buyer! If you do not have direct access to the vehicle that allows you to mark up, then you simply do not have access — no amount of coercion or informal arrangement will change that fact. It started with agents and rent, and now it's moving to car purchases. It's the effrontery for me sha, N200k on a so called distress sale, on a car with a bad gear, obviously badly maintained engjne.......and you still want to milk from another's impending woes!!! I fear who no fear you..... 1 Like |

tuoyoojo: Your position on the engine variant is absolutely incorrect. Engine specs are the same across board and the 2.5mL engine was introduced in the 2010 models (07-09 models were fitted with the 2.4L engines except on V6s) also with 6 gears against 5. The camry has a better resale value and can tolerate abuse better than the accord, however, the accord offers a better ride quality and offers better aesthetics. If you are one that is keen on maintainance culture, and reselling is not a major consideration, I would suggest the highest trim of the Honda accord i.e EX-L ( with the i4 engine variant) but if you can't pay attention to required routine maintenance, settle for the camry. If you can get the XLE in i4, good. 1 Like |

rammyblog: Well yes, but not as durable as Panasonic in my opinion. LG, Midea and Hisense are alternatives I have short term experiences with. 1 Like 1 Share |

rammyblog: Panasonic, if you can afford it. It is usually priced above other brands and known to draw light more. But the durabilility, efficiency and easy of maintenance is notable. If you chose to, settle for made in Malaysia models. Cheers 1 Like |

FreeStuffsNG: Woah! And you deduced all that from my comment. Lol. It is either you are overly assumptious or have an unresolved underlying personal issues with the Western populace?Maybe. Cos I fail to understand how you miraculously cooked that up when it was not on the menu. #sighs# Well, I am not responsible for how you chose to interpret my comment. As much as you tried to manipulate what i said, you did a good job of attempting to mask the salient points posited. I wonder what actually touched a soft spot that brought about inferiority complex, white skin et al.... I was very intentional when I chose to say "a developed country" and not mention England or the US? It was because I anticipated this exact line of misconstrued reaction. Anyways, you clearly failed to grasp my point which is the emphasis on there being a need for CONSEQUENCES!!! And since you were so magnanimous to give an example, I will return the favour by referencing your example: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/articles/c6244gk9d4po.amp Yes it happened as you so much wanted to prove, but I find it suspiciouly convenient that you were silent on the fact that there were consequences and it didn't take forever to manifest. So I say it again "People do not exercise caution bacause they believe there are no consequences or they can escape the consequences. When consequences are dealt out, people act with decorum" Cheers |

AntiZikist: Don't be an overzealous dolt trying to appear intelligent by half! Are you sure you read the whole comment or you just jumped to a baseless uninformed conclusion! Cos it seems you were just so eager respond and ended up displaying some sort of "factory default stupidity." You repeated what I posited yet contradicting the same position. After blabbling, you now say elxactly what I emphasized on! Just for the benefit of doubt that you lack comprehension skills, my point in simply and please this time read slowly, is that the recording evidence the bolt driver circulated is valid and tenable if prosecution is pursued because it meets the exceptions of the cyber crime act and the right to privacy as guaranteed by the constitution; and that the lawmaker cannot punch a hole in the evidence under the veil of having being unlawfully recorded because he actually proved he was aware he was being recorded and even dared the driver nothing will happen. So your point axactly is ![]() Charge and bail ignoramus.....read they will not read and then come and be making a fool of themselves in public! |

FreeStuffsNG: Even though we should pursue peace and forgiveness with all men, it is thinking such as this that has contributed to where we currently find ourselves as a nation. People do not exercise caution bacause they believe there are no consequences or they can escape the consequences. When consequences are dealt out, people act with decorum. Would he have dared this if he was in a developed country like the ones we are dreaming of striving to become? The "do you know who I am" denigrating syndrome that has befallen many of the citizenry. |

Armaggedon: It is good to argue but it is better to argue what you are well versed on.. Kindly go back to my initial comment to be sure you even understood what I was talking about! Recording someone indiscriminately is a violation of their fundamental human rights. The legal framework around video recording without consent in Nigeria is primarily governed by the Cybercrimes Act of 2015 and various provisions in the Nigerian Constitution and state laws. When a person records a video of another in a public space and shares it, the video creator violates the other person’s right to privacy as protected by the Constitution. Howbeit, there are exceptions which include- Personal Safety i.e recording may be justified if it is necessary to protect oneself or others from imminent harm or illegal activities, such as threats of violence or extortion. Now to the crux if the matter as I had outlined earlier which you obviously failed to comprehend, bothers on the issibility of the recording as evidence. It has nothing to do with whether there was provocation or not ( and even if there was provocation, the law maker, in law, resulted to "self help" which has legal implications!). So on the contrary, you are very wrong, the bolt driver can reliably claim he did the recording because he had reasons to suspect threats to his safety and existence, and the Lawmaker did a very good job at establishing the drivers fears! This is a public forum and people get educated and learn both consciously and subconsciously so do not assert knowledge you are not grounded on. While you are entitled to your opinions, you are not entitled to your facts! And before you respond, which I believe you would in a bid to win an arguement rather than learn from it, I would advice you read a bit on; 1. The cybercrimes act of 2015 2. The evidence act of 2011 and 3. The constitutional right to privacy and its exceptions. Cheers |

Armaggedon: You really don't understand how the law works. There would have been a slight controversy if the law maker was unaware of the recording and could actually attack it as evidence, but he goofed when he not only acknowledged the recording but dared the victim to do it and nothing would happen. 1 Like 1 Share |
