That man is very stupid. Now that he's lost his son I hope he's very happy with himself.

Why not stop when they ask you to stop. Even if your papers are not complete highest they'll do is to collect money from you.

Now his stubbornness has cost the life of his son.

And to the police officer that discharged his firearm. He should be arrested and jailed.

Heard the boy was running late for exams and he was stuck in traffic only to take one way to avert traffic to meet up the exams before boy is shut out from taken the exams.

He did a wrong thing but also think of the fatherly instinct to do anything for his son to get to his destination and not regret missing out on his opportunity.

The police have no business shooting at an unarmed traffic violator. In civilized countries police chase and even after the chase they don't shoot unless the person is armed and posing a threat.

You are correct but both were lawless.
The Father would have knocked down humans too. He endangered several lives on the motorway by running against traffic.
Lawlessness should never never be enthroned in a society where rational humans reside.
The man remains a FooL.
The Police remains Animalistic.

As a father do not put your kids and family in danger, this man knows that Nigerian police officers lack discipline.
There is nothing like indiscipline in this very context, only that they an innocent person became the victim. The blame for this incident rests on the shoulder of the father

The father did not fail the boy. Because the father's plate number would have been used to trace him. Rather the police officer should be charged for murder
Doesn’t work like that sir
That man was clearly endangering lives
Watch the video from the beginning and see where he almost killed some guys on bike. The only mistake here is that an innocent victim got killed. The father should bear all responsibility.

A newly surfaced video has shed light on the tragic incident in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot by police officers during an operation that was initially intended to apprehend his father for a traffic offense.

Earlier reports had suggested that the officers were chasing an alleged internet fraudster when a stray bullet struck the young student. However, the newly released footage contradicts this, showing that the incident actually involved a t task force consisting of personnel from the Oyo State Police Command and the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYTMA).

In the video, the officers are seen attempting to intercept a Black Honda Accord driven by Odunayo Alade, the boy’s father, who had reportedly flouted traffic regulations. As the car sped off in defiance of the officers' orders, a gunshot rings out. Voices speaking in Yoruba can be heard saying: “They should pursue him”, “let’s go”, “he can’t escape”, “he shouldn’t have gone.”

Shortly afterward, the vehicle halts and bystanders gather at the scene. The boy is spotted lying motionless on the ground, with police officers surrounding him. Two men lift the boy, seemingly trying to place him back into the vehicle. Blood is visibly staining the pavement nearby.

Amid the commotion, a voice from the crowd is heard asking: “Who fired the gun?” Meanwhile, a distressed man — believed to be the father — is seen gripping a police officer, apparently the one who fired the shot. He cries out in anguish: “Shoot me; you have to shoot me too.”

Later that day, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, issued a statement providing further details about the incident. According to him, the vehicle driven by Alade had violated traffic laws around 7:45 am near the Airport Roundabout in the Alakia axis of Ibadan. When officials attempted to stop him, he allegedly accelerated in defiance, colliding with two OYTMA vehicles and a Police Buffalo Patrol truck.

The statement continues: “Rather than complying with lawful directives, the driver allegedly accelerated towards the enforcement team in an attempt to evade arrest, ramming into two OYTMA vehicles and a Police Buffalo Patrol truck.”

To prevent additional danger to officers and other road s, barricades were set up to stop the fleeing vehicle. However, Alade reportedly broke through these barriers and continued driving in a reckless manner, posing risks to those around.

During this pursuit, a police corporal discharged his weapon. The bullet pierced the rear of the vehicle and struck the boy, who was seated behind the driver. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

The officer responsible for firing the shot has since been detained, and the authorities have launched an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Nigeria Police pulls gun trigger .. with emotions, either by Anger ,or by intoxication of substance or by Hunger...

You Aim to shoot and your Aim most not miss your target and if it most miss most not be less that the 🎯 Travelocity set..

You don't shoot because u can pull a trigger...

Then that boys father killed is Son...

If it's not the Police that pull the trigger... The father too could have caused the Car to flip into the bush on cause more damages around.. mayb ghastly accident ahead...

And then with the reckless driving we could assume.. that the driver is a kidnapper.. or ritualist....

💯 blame on the father. He's the most irresponsible fool I have seen this year for driving in such manner with kids in the car. All he had to do was plead when he was first blocked and settle the matter. Now life is lost. I'm sure he will lose his marriage too.
For me, the father killed his son

With the way that driver pulled out... Shows he is a Kidnapper....

No responsible citizens an adult would drive.. like that... What does that father do for a Living...

because that reckless driving is not necessary...

I read here where someone was making excuses for the driver ... That the reason behind is reckless driving...because the kids were running late .. the same kids that were begging there father to stop and crying...

Now the boy missed writing exams for life... Due to very poor and selfish decision.

No wonder... Is wife left him...

The Police should be sentence to death...

And the Father who's supposed to be a good role model to his son should be jailed also he failed the boy...

What happens to following the traffic laws what lesson his he teaching his son?

When the issue escalated he should have just stopped talk to them at worst he gets a fine.
The father is responsible for his son's death.

Ramming into police and public cars, it's a call for the use of brutal force in even foreign countries.

Car is tinted, I doubt if the police knew there was a child in the vehicle.

He just wasted his son for nothing

TallNigerian:
There are too many things to be deduced from this video and they all trickle down to the culture of lawlessness in Nigeria.

1. Father of deceased: That driving was too reckless. You were driving against traffic yet refused to stop and answer the traffic enforcement team. Just imagine how he was bashing into other cars and even the road culvert, destroying his own car in the process. What justification could he have had? If not for anything, he should have considered that a minor (his child for that matter) was in the car. That shows the level of lawlessness amongst Nigerian drivers.

2. Police: No need to dwell on them. We already know they should be the second worst police force in the world. Second only to probably Afghanistan. Is shooting a live bullet the way to solve a traffic infraction or stop a stupid driver?

3. Traffic Officers a.k.a Agberos in Uniform: From their uncouth language alone, you can tell that one of the major requirement in their recruitment process is the ability to use swear words and behave live a tout. No person who went through the four walls of a tertiary institution will behave like those urchins do. Last last, education no be scam.

4. Other Nigerians: Our emergency preparedness is zero, our situational awareness is zero, ability to think critically in difficult situation = zero. No sense. Maybe if we were not Nigerians, that child would have gotten to the hospital in good time and might have lived.

We all play our part towards how terrible our country and society is. Our leaders are a true reflection of who we are as individuals and as collective people.

Corollary: After watching this video, I wonder if this man's wife will forgive him. His sheer stupidity escalated the situation that eventually cost them their son's life.

The man is responsible for his son death...

Tinted car, broke traffic rules and was driving and wrecking other cars, endangering the lives of other road s or pedestrians.

I doubt police knew there was a child in the vehicle since it's tinted.

Honestly, if the wife sees this video, he won't forgive that man for killing his son

There is freedom of speech yes, but you have no right whatsoever to tag a whole people (nation for that matter) including you and your family and be using such negative and foul words. Nigeria is bad yes, but what are you doing to make it better.
And I don't think you know the meaning of the word snitch, if you do you won't call me that. Ire o

He should be thoroughly dealt with but why on earth should a police officer fire live bullets on a traffic offender? If he had killed your father while firing the shots, you would be singing a different song.
What happened to capturing his number plate to trace and arrest him later and more safely?
Both the reckless father and driver together with the police officer should be cooling off in jail.
I don’t even know why they didn’t send him straight to his maker alongside the boy immediately. SW people dey vex me honestly, things like this seldom happen in SE and North😏 Police is the north comport themselves because recklessness has huge repercussions
