You can't update DS 160. Fill another DS 160 and then raise a ticket on AVITS to get the bar code updated on your interview appointment letter. Follow up with a live chat. I just advised someone else on how to go about a live chat. Please read that response and follow the steps.

@Cashmadam has guided you appropriately. Fill another ds 160 and pick the right location. to your profile (avits) , raise a ticket (update of ds-160 and attach the new one with the correct location) and log out.

Log back after 24hrs and print out another visa appointment letter as it will reflect your new ds-160 confirmation number . 👍

I used the AVITS platform to schedule my mom’s interview waiver appointment. I paid with my credit card, and it was quite seamless. They seem to be improving the website to minimize glitches.
I hope they can come up with a lasting solution to the constant timeouts of the DS-160 form while completing it because it frustrated me a lot.

I already filled my DS-160 form, selected Lagos as my desired location, submitted and made payment. On getting to the appointment page to select a date, the website says here is no available date in my location (Lagos). I changed it to Abuja and I found that there are available dates in Abuja. Can I select Abuja and then go for the interview or do i need to fill another Ds-160 form to choose Abuja as my location and I hope I dont have to make another payment or what is the way forward. I will appreciate your advice on this.

You have to give more information to your question. Have you booked an appointment and you only needs the payment receipt to take to the embassy ? Or you need the payment receipt to quote while booking your appointment?

You can go to your bank if you pay via transfer or card may be they can assist. Or use the debit screenshot to email the embassy on payment issues. 👍

Your payment screenshot is sufficient. All they need is proof of payment. Print the screenshot out in a clearer form (especially if you have paid by card or bank transfer). Or go to your Banking App if you will be able to clearer payment evidence 👍

Hello Tomi.
If you select Abuja you are applying against the rule and regulation of the US embassy but you will still be interviewed. In this respect you have to follow your mind.

If you are ready to pull the stunt pick Abuja and fill another ds-160 indicating your Abuja post in the beginning. You must update your ds 160 after this and print another visa appointment letter.

Note: This kind of stunt is very likely to have repacaution because the system will retain your initial Lagos post despite the fact that your ds 160 is now aligned with your location and matched your appointment letter. 👍

There’s a new rule that your location should match on both ds 160 and appointment location. Regardless you should customer service and refer to relevant publications.

Hi,bibdid the same thing yesterday and they helped me update it within a day. Just fill out another ds160 form and create a ticket. We can communicate on WhatsApp if you want.

Just take one port. You don't need to attach it to anything. It will be scanned later. You need only one but can take two just in case....

Apparently after you pick up the port you can to AVITIS and you will see a notification for 221g appointment booking but these things vary.

I’m asking because it seems the wait time in Lagos has been elongated. My mum’s application still says “application received” and it’s been almost 3 weeks now since it was submitted.

Does anyone have an inkling on what might be going on?
Has the process changed?
Are they considering scrapping IW Dropbox or something?

Honestly, this IW process has been not so straight forward. I believe we have all been waiting and just recently a few of us that submitted early April got refused ( processing) status and now we are waiting on the next steps. I am not even sure if anyone has received issued for Lagos in the last month so the only thing we can do now is to wait. I am sure they will update your status soon but the problem might be after all this waiting there might be even more waiting lol.

Do I just keep checking until there are dates?Also, I hope the 1 year validity of the visa fees will not expire before the dates for Lagos are open? I will appreciate your advice on this. Thanks for the advice. I ave ed the customer service but the response I got was that there is really no date for Lagos, not even 2026, the calender stops at 2025 so will it be ok to wait and keep checking util dates are made available and I hope my visa fees will not have expired by then?

Hello.
If the error is just one alphabet or number you can attend your appointment like that but if it's entirely whole number error ( eg boy200 ....boi200 or boo200 manageable / boy200.... girl200 not manageable) you can raise a ticket or email the embassy.

Naturally your appointment letter is a gate-. Your ds -160 information as well as your physical travel port is what the US embassy follows in issuing your visa and recording your data. 👍

What you can do is to raise a ticket or email the embassy or keep waiting . It is the onus of all visa applicant to research and their appointment location before they chose a post.

No matter how urgent you want an appointment you cannot rush or force the US embassy out of their yearly , monthly, weekly or daily allotted calendar routings except if your case qualifies for emergency appointment. 👍

Such is allowed. They will just scan the barcode on your confirmation page and your data will be transfered to Abuja Consulate. You are free to do so. I have done it several times for my clients and they were issued visa with no problem.

You can't. You are advised to attend your interview in the original location you picked. I believe you will need to pay another fee.

He/she doesn't need to fill another ds160. He should carry on with his interview date. Such stuff is allowed

You won't be paying another fee. All you have do are as follows:
1. Fill another DS160 and choose Abuja.
2. Raise a ticket on your AVITS portal that you want to update your DS160.

That's all, the issue will be rectified within 24-48 hours.
