Ill appreciatea response on this. Thanks

No document but you might want to take proof that you are going for a graduation ceremony. The most important thing is for you to prove that you will be back to your home country after the event.

You should be able to dowload and print a receipt from your bank App. Have you tried to do that?

Has anyone here recently filled another DS-160 form and updated it on AVITS? How long did it take?

For my Mum's application. About two to three weeks - after several reminders and live chat to follow up. It was updated immediately during one of the live chats as I was very persistent.

I have been trying to schedule an appointment on the avits website but the dates I see is April 2026. Anyone knows when new dates are posted ?

Pick whichever date you see and keep searching to change it if you see a date you prefer.

My mom's interview is scheduled for next month (May). The Nigerian port she used for her visa application will expire in February 2026, so she recently renewed it some days ago. The new one has both the new and old port numbers in it.

Does she need to update her DS-160? She plans to take both current and renewed ports along for the interview.

She definitely needs to fill another DS 160 Form. The old one can't be updated.

Insert the new port number when you are asked for port details.. Then raise a ticket on AVITS cos the bar code on the new DS 160 form and interview letter will not be the same. You need to send reminders and follow up aggressively so that the bar code can be updated on your interview invitation letter. She can take the old and new port to the interview but they really don't need the old port.

Hi guys, after waiting since April 3rd my status changed to refused this afternoon. Can anyone give me any advise on how to go about this? I am guessing that I would have to go for a physical interview. If anyone can tell me the timeline it took for them to go for an interview after seeing this refused status. Did they return your port or hold on to it? Did it take a week or two weeks? Did they call or email? Any info will be appreciated. Also submitted in Lagos.

Hi Dixoxo.
Of course you are no more qualify for IW again because the strongest brick wall against qualification for IW is when you have been refused a visa before and now that you have been refused you are back to queue with fresh visa applicants until after you secure a new visa again.

You will be able to collect your port this week (Friday) at your chosen pick up location but unfortunately you will have to start afresh by purchasing another MRV and securing another (physical) visa appointment date in order to re-apply.

They cannot hold on unto your port (except if you have committed a bad visa offences or needed to be arrested) and with that they will have to lure you to the embassy not holding unto your port.

NOTE: You have likely overstayed or abuse your previous visa or you misrepresented some information in your renewal - visa application (ds-160) in which the embassy cannot confirm. Wait until you receive your port along with INA 214b (or 212 etc depends on circumstances) denial slip before you can finally decide your faith. πŸ‘

False!

In my case I was refused on CEAC and they called me in for an interview. My port was not returned, I did not pay another MRV and I did not have to schedule another appointment either. I was called on phone and asked to show up a week after and they sent me an email after the call.

At the Consulate, I met more than 5 people that day with the same issue, all without their ports.

My interview questions were simple and I got approved afterwards

Refused β‰  Denied

Quick question for IW application, do you need to drop off your port at the DHL office in Lagos or at any of the DHL approved locations out side of Lagos?

Omg! Why would you do that? The chances that they will request an interview is extremely high and you have just put your status in jeopardy!! I think your only saving grace would be if your visa has not yet expired that way you can come back another time for renewal.

Just thought more about it...if they hold on to your port then it might be game over

Mine is also F-1 but I am still in school. I am not in Nigeria presently, so I am afraid they will request for an in-person interview

They likely need to see you in person, you'll probably get some communication on interview date since yours is OPT

You'll be fine. I pray you get your communication soon

Hello.
My answer was based on outright denial. Visa circumstances (in which they needs you for re-bio metric or data update) is different. πŸ‘

If its possible i can request for a withdrawal and have my port back, but i have to wait for the email and hopefully it is not for an interview

Both. Phone call first then email within 2 minutes after the call. They actually told me I would get the email immediately after and I did.

For the future, it's actually illegal to send your port across country lines.

You didn't need to renew your F1visa if you're still studying and not leaving the borders of the US.
What you could have done was book appointment woth US embassy in Mexico or Canada and do it yourself in person

It's actually in your best interest that they request an In-Person interview. Prepare to come to nigeria

And he's not in the country.

OP., lessons learnt but you need to plan to come to nigeria.

There was someone who did something similar and was called in too
