Did not get my port back. They first called me and the sent an email (content below). Immediately after. I was asked to come in with a means of identification because they were with the port. Content: ‘You have been scheduled for a follow up interview on March 13th, 2025, at 1pm. Please arrive at the United States Consulate General in Lagos at least 30 minutes before your appointment to facilitate security screening. You are required to bring a copy of this email and an ID card for your appointment. Regards,’ PS: I was fasting that day and told Jesus I wanted a response that same day and it happened! Goodday house. I have want clarity about something, I recently just got my B1/B2 visa with 5 year validity for a conference but won't be able to go to the conference as it's too close and clashes with lectures. I would be rounding up my studies this year as a nursing student, so traveling with the visa may likely be next year. I want to know from the gurus here how to make best use of the visa while there, if there is an avenue to get my visa changed to one that permits me to stay and work otherwise planning to spend 3-6months and not overstay. Thank you all ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You are one of the evil people giving us bad names. Your visa is for business/tourism! stick to it! If you need something else, apply legitimately from Nigeria. adeleeye1: 4 Likes |

AdisaMighty: U need to take a chill pill.. My question was there an avenue to change status which could be in there if possible or back home. I just want information on what to do now and how to go about. If it's something I need to plan for while still in the country or go out to work it out. I am not part of any evil anything I will never overstay in any country I know too well it's implications am not a first time traveler. Thanks 1 Like |

Your intentions say it all. Don’t sha mess up your travel history. If you take unnecessary risk, the record will follow you like tail for life. Best advice; consider a migrant visa somewhere else eg Canada, Australia. You have a US visit visa in the bag already. adeleeye1: 2 Likes |

AdisaMighty: Thank you, But you don't know my intentions, I feel you have a general view of questions thinking the person wants to japa. Let me clarify my question more.. Sometime ago some people with this visa class get ission into school and apply for visa either from there or within. But for some years now I read that it's been more difficult. I was just looking for information (particularly those living in US) that.. Oh since you are a nursing student you can write nclex before coming or take some exams.. Or when you get to US look for agents and go back home to reapply or any insider information kind of thing. Like I said before I won't spoil my reputation by overstaying my visit as I can always visit numerous times I want. |

Sure: Both: Greetings exchanged (+ gave a rehearsed plastic smile, every other thing after this was not rehearsed, sincerity matters) VO: Why did you visit the US last year (I visited 4x within a year) Adisa: Context first, I am a startup founder and it's fundraising season for us, I had meetings with investors and partners and the typical nature of these meetings is that there are always followup, rather than have extended stays, I had a lot of back and forth, mainly because I am usually busy in Nigeria VO: Do you have any family in the US Adisa: NO VO: what's your future plan Adisa: Hmmm... Expand our business within Nigeria, our customers are local **** VO: I will be approving your visa (hands over white paper) cindermum: |

justwise: Thank you sir.. The way he answered made me almost pulled down my post as I really wasn't thinking of going anywhere illegally. I currently study outside of Nigeria and have been to 2 other countries without overstaying so I don't know why the outburst |

Please, at what stage would one know if they are qualified for Interview Waiver? While creating profile on AVITS or after payment of MRV fee? Is it possible to wrongly apply for in person and after assessment you get IW?

My husband and I submitted our ports for IW and his visa was issued and I was asked to schedule an appointment for a follow up interview Me: Good morning ma'am VO: Good morning VO: Why are you travelling ? Me: My family and I are going to Chicago for a 3 weeks vacation in July. VO: you had your kids in the USA ME: Yes ma'am in 201.. and 201.. VO: How much did you pay? ME: I paid $7,000 and $10,000 respectively (I was trying to bring out my receipts and letter of none indebtedness) and she told me to keep the docs away. VO: That was very low for Childbirth, you got some discounts. ME: No ma'am, i didnt( I was actually confused when I said no because I thought she meant government aid, which is prohibited for someone on a B1/B2 visa) then I proceeded to say my contract with the hospital was from the 35th week of pregnancy till birth. It would have been higher if I was taken care of from the first month of pregnancy. V.O: so you got some discounts because you paid cash. ME: yes ma'am. . VO : When you applied in 201.., you mentioned that it would cost $14,000 . ME: No ma'am, I told him that my budget was $14,000 which was inclusive of flight ticket, accomodation, transportation and feeding . Then I proceeded to tell her that I gave him my budget sheet to that effect ma'am. . VO : How did you pay? ME: With our bank cards. VO : Did you access any govt aid? ME : No ma'am, I didn't. VO: your husband has a visa too ME: yes ma'am, we both applied via IW and his visa was issued while I was called in for an interview. VO: are you pregnant? ME: No ma'am, I'm not pregnant and I'm done with childbirth. VO: That's what you all say, note that childbirth with B1/B2 visa stopped since 2020. I am going to put this down now that if you birth in the United States in the next 5yrs, your visa and your husband's visa will be revoked. Tell your husband too, that his visa will be revoked if you give birth in the United States in the next 5yrs. ME: Yes ma'am, okay ma'am. VO: continued typing for some seconds and said alright, you may pick up your visa in 1 week and handed the white paper to me. Me: Thank you very much ma'am with a big smile of relief. P.s After my first issuance, I had applied 2ce via IW and I wasn't called in for interview. Birthing with a B1/B2 visa is no longer permissible and it is on their website for further proof. 5 Likes |

adeleeye1: You cannot convert when you are there. Apply for the specific visa you need. 3-6months holiday is actually too long. You might have issues during renewal. So plan carefully. 5 Likes |
