1. No. Your last update was that they could see your payment over there , but you cannot proceed with your appointment in your profile . You also wrote that you planned to restart your browser and re.

2. I will recommend you call the helpline again, because most time, your calls are being taken by a new or inexperienced or exhausted staff, and such staff just want to tell you something so that you can hang-up 😄

3. Do not open any tickets again. I would rather you continued calling the -staffs , perhaps you will engage an experienced staff who will attend to your issues.

Your agent likely paid your VISA fee with the old method (GTB), but could not start the appointment booking for you b/cos your then CGI profile was at the state of " pending appointment request" in which he or she cannot do anything until the embassy grant the request. * Tell your agent to visit the new website (AVITS) in order to sign up for you and open a complain ticket, by attaching your VISA fee payment receipt or previous appointment, and explain the situation, perhaps, the embassy will activate your profile with access to continue with your appointment booking. VISA fee payment is actually valid for one year.

2. No matter how strong the status of your brother in the USA, or how richer he is, you must individually prove to the consular that you have ties to Nigeria , genuine intentions, and especially, the utmost importance of your visiting. The entry-record of your brother will also be put into consideration, because the embassy will conduct a background checks on him. People have abused the old open-doors of visiting blood relatives, hence, it is now one of the hardest routes.

3. If you are an established personality in Nigeria, with good overall profile (ie travel history, academic, family, business etc), and your brother is about to wed, or his children are about graduating from college or he wants you to come and facilitate a t-family business etc, then, your B1/B2 VISA application success can be placed on 85/100%. Otherwise, i would rather you applied on your own, ie study or personal visit without dragging your brother into it.

I had this problem too. What I did was to create a ticket and kept calling them. Eventually, they merged the two s but I doubt you will be able to use the payment before. You may have to pay another visa fee.

Good day, I did this and on the new email, it said the same thing, duplicate transaction. I couldn’t raise a ticket because that would require having a profile existing on the new email and I can’t do that. I tried to into the old email after deactivating it and it says used inactive.

Please I have a serious challenge. I created my profile and made payment, but before the payment was confirmed I found out I could add my dependents. I proceeded to add them but the total amount was still including mine so I could not pay for them. Now my payment has been confirmed and we have all been issued IW confirmation letters however, their own letter doesn't carry a receipt ID (for obvious reasons) and there is no way to pay for them as it is. Tried to create a new profile for them but it is saying duplicate applicant found. What can I do please?

Yes, that's what I have been doing, I have been calling every day and each time I call they mention they have escalated the ticket and the issue is with the relevant departments. They are no longer even escalating my ticket because they noted there is no point since from their end the ticket is on hold means they are working on it. But till now nothing has changed, I can't schedule an appointment. I was due to travel on the 4th of October for a tech event and it is on that DS-120 I paid, what happens now? since the event is tomorrow? I can't change the information on the DS form since I made the payment on that basis.

TBF, I have had staff pick up my calls and I know this because of the accent, when the Americans speak and when asians talk I know who I am talking to. off recently it is even the Americans that have been picking up my calls. Still, the issue persists

How did i get here? I sent an email to Lagos NIV that they should return my port, it's been so long and I have commitments. Now they replied that I should come in for an interview.

This doesn't change the fact that I need my port back, we will attend to this interview at a later date (Dec 1st). They've not answered me!

QUESTION: Please did this happen to anyone before? Did they release your port?

* It has not happened to me before , but it has happened to few people i know, but not in the way you have described it.

1. If you have written the Lagos consular at " [email protected] demanding your port for unexpected or urgent travel, while your VISA application is pending additional processing, and your request is granted as having fulfilled the return criteria, what the embassy usually do is to "forward your port to VISA information service (OIS/DHL) for dispatch within one to two business days, using the delivery option you have selected when the appointment was made.

** You will then be notified by email and text message when your port is ready for delivery or pickup.

In your present scenario:

2. Your 221g or IW requires you to appear physically for some questionnaire, which is an hopeful situation, but if you insist on having your port back, then, the embassy would not have a choice, than to engage their policy as described in sense -1 above, and have your port returned.

PS: If you are a wanted criminal , or your name match that of a wanted person, or you have impersonated the US government or official etc, in your current VISA application, then, the USA embassy will not return your port.

I was waiting for an email as stated by the VO but never got one. Had to check the OIS website and saw that my port was ready for pickup

Did my Visa interview on 13th September and it was approved. I have waited for mail for collection of port.. none has come. I checked the OIS on 26th September. Said port was ready for collection, booked an appointment and went there and they said they did not have my port.
Since then it is showing port not ready for collection on their site, no email too.
What do I do?
