If you have a good knowledge of Economics
101, you'll know that all these items are interconnected to each.
You expect rice to be very expensive and beans to be very cheap.

Someone once asked me, why is Garri expensive when it's been produced here in Nigeria and not imported into the country.

And I gave him an illustration which I'll also give here to answer your question.

The high cost of fuel (petrol, diesel, kerosene, cooking gas, etc.) definitely affects the price of other things in the market in the following way.;

Take for instance, if a Garri or beans seller take his or her commodity to the market and sell in a cheap price and now wants to use that money to buy rice, fuel that is expensive, will he or she be able to afford those things, the answer is NO!

So the Garri seller or beans seller must increase his or her own price as that he or she will be able to afford the other stuffs like rice, fuel, house rent, school fees, cost of transportation, etc that have all gone up.

So if you go sell your beans cheap, you won't be able to afford rice that's expensive, so you to increase your price so as to be able to afford rice.

It's as simple as that.

1. Insecurity : bandit activities are responsible for farmers to abandoned thier farms and its affecting supply chains

2: Transportation: petroleum subsidy removal by this clueless President is another major factor.

3: Middlemen: they buy at cheaper rate from farmers and sell at expensive price to the retailers.

I will suggest that Nigerians boycott some of these perishable foods. Let these greedy farmers suffer heavy loss.

It is not proper that federal government will fund these farmers to encourage self sufficiency but yet, these greedy bastards will still make these foods non affordable for common man

Which federal government is funding farmers? Farmers are doing their best to stay active, u are saying another thing

I don't Tinubu at all but I think that farmers are the ones exploiting nigerians. Southern part of the country is safe but yet, Garri keeps hitting new high weekly.

Talk about the farmers as if e easy like that.

Under this Tinubu and His evil APC structure going to the farm is one of the fastest ways to die now.

Make the suffering raise to power 700.

May the strongest survive.

You said it best. An average Nigeria would not miss any opportunity to exploit a fellow countryman. Some of us are just waiting for the favourable opportunity.

the garri farmer or seller will have to sell the garri to buy bread and other food items, he won't depend on or feed on garri alone. Have you heard of circlical inflation before?

The singular act of increasing fuel price and deprecating the naira nailed the economy. So blame no one but the govt.

Beans are been exported out of the country to Niger.

Reason been that Nigeria beans is now cheaper because of the country currency devaluation.
Very reasonable

It's planting season now in the north and only few people can farm, high cost of pesticide and fertilizer, you pay tax to the government, boko haram and bandits.
oga , if you like , make pesticide and fertilizers drop like heavy rain , it won't help a thing in Nigeria today. Every hawker , conductor or okada wants to own and drive Venza overnight from their petty businesses

Nigerians are wicked to themselves. Some are selling soft drinks for 350 and some 400 today. Ask them , they have no reasons. From my estate to the Bustop was #100. They shot it up to #200 during the fuel scarcity. Now that the fuel is down , they make all manner of excuses, not the fuel anymore.

Sorry to say that it is like the crop of Abokis coming to Lagos for business and okada are already given the orientation to show no mercy. They don't pay tax , they don't rent house , they don't even buy soap to bathe or wash their wears . Toothpaste is not for them but they love money more than those who spend on those items.
They will never remove shi shi from their goods .

How are the farmers greedy? Have you factored the role of insecurity on their farming activities? Do you know the informal tax paid by farmers to bandits in the north? You have an Android phone please research intelligently .Don't use your phone to watch comedy skit too much.

What will the people eat? Agbado, garri, cassava?

You forget that cost of transportation has more than doubled since the increase in petrol prices.

Insecurity is the major reason. This is planting season, we are expected to be surviving on last year's production but last year harvest was low due to insecurity. We are likely to experience same this year.
Way forward - subsistence farming.

Agro chemicals, diesel very expensive, cost of transportation very high. And you are blaming the farmers. Boycott their produce others will buy. Na hunger go wire you. Common herbicide like paraforce of 2,500 months ago is now 7k.
