zombieHUNTER: It is eventually too expensive for the State to go from place to place trying to enforce certain laws. In the West , they adopted the fines and Penalties systems to mitigate this. If Lagos State as well as other States in Nigeria adopted this method, the people whose homes or and estates are being demolished for contravening the relevant regulations would find themselves in far worst positions. This is since they would also foot the bill for the demolition of thire own homes or serve jail . |

Are roads, including flyovers,in that state a priority? Are beggars, homeless people, hospitals and schools not of higher priority?

James91: I believe people from other African nations are employed there too. There was, if memory serves me, a CNN or Al-Jazeera expose on the place. If true how would this impact your belief that employment at the centre is based on tribe ? |

On a more serious and alternative note: I have little doubt that if orientals such as Chinese, Koreans, Japanese were at the helm of Microsoft, Microsoft would not leave Nigeria. At least not in favour of Kenya than Nigeria. Nigerians need to factor in these things. |

Microsoft Africa Development Center In Ikoyi To Shut Down Microsoft center is not a priority when there are masses of Lagosians dispossessed of thire homes that require food and rehousing. The Microsoft Centre building should be requisitioned and turned into a feeding centre and temporary accomodation. |

I don't wanna blow my own trumpet but I'm often right. I once stated, long ago, that this very Nigeria that many, so called, Nigerians insult, abuse, and disregard on a daily bases both indigenously and from abroad will one day be the place they will no longer be able to live in or return to, even if they wish, because it will develop beyond thire means and legal status as Nigerians. Nigerians need to respect Nigeria, it is a formidable nation going places... all things being equal. 1 Like |

In fact if the governor had his priorities right, money needed elsewhere should not have been used to repair the bridge. The river isn't wide in that section, people can jump across.

Some Nigerians are becoming Career Complainers. Authorities invest in expensive, first class Coastal Highway and Nigerians criticise this as misplaced priority, arguing that other projects need the investment. Now same Nigerians are criticising the bridge pictured and criticising the Authorities responsible even though the Authorities did not spend much money on it due to other priorities. ![]() 1 Like |

We haven't ranked the companies on the list, so please don't get upset if your favorite humanoid bot is not listed at the top. Note: There are many other milestones and metrics to consider - and we will be adding more to this list over time. Observations: 1) Figure @Figure_robot appears to be leading the way in efforts to commercialize bots - announcing an agreement with BMW. 2) Tesla @Tesla_Optimus has made rapid progress with its bot and with Tesla's manufacturing prowess, many consider Tesla to be in the lead - but it is still early days. 3) Sanctuary @TheSanctuaryAI has posted 63 videos of its bot doing all kinds of useful things - check out Sanctuary's YouTube channel for the series of "Robots Doing Stuff" 4) Seven of the companies on the list are Chinese. 5) So far the Chinese bot companies have focused on walking (and kicking their bots!) - this is a bit odd as walking isn't critical in order for bots to do useful work. That said, we expect to see rapid progress in the capabilities of the Chinese bots. Ref: twitter nee X

Tinubu's press secretary should have just said, Nigeria will not leave Ghana behind. Ghana will have one too, longer and better and with electricity. Matters closed. Leave Obi alone he has aired his criticism and moved on. The people still dragging this issue have thire own agender. I know deep, deep down what it is but people will not believe because it will seem too ridiculous. |

Human Beings and cliches, clarion calls and sound bites! The new one for some people that we believe are all Nigerians, is "Unfinished Roads" as a greater priority than a new road. Never mind that what constitute developmental Priority in any nation is subjective and difficult to determine especially in developing nations. A convincing enough argument could be made for national security as Nigeria's most pressing priority. Even one that posit most projects in Nigeria should be suspended and investment ploughed into the Military and paramilitary architecture, including policing. I bet you the Priority champions would not like this. Their common sense and pragmatism would desert them.

I feel sorry for the Lagos Authorities. ![]() Anyway, the current situation of Lagos's development plans ought at least to serve one lesson for all Nigeria state governors. It is this: Do Not Let Unplanned Activities Become Entrenched. The unstated belief by authorities all over Nigeria concerning unplanned activities such as shanty towns, roadside shops, kiosks, unlicensed realtors , poorly regulated land laws, documentation, haphazard buildings, hawking, price gouging, open defecating, rules braking, public officials harassing, traffic laws flaunting, fly-tipping, railway line markets etc seems to be that of, 'we are third world, let us take it easy on our people because they are poor and unsophisticated. That, as we develop as a nation, things will evolve naturally and the right attitudes and outcomes will prevail'. Well, Lagos's experience indicate that this will not happen. Lessons from Lagos instead shows us that when authorities overlook disorder and accommodate the unplanned survival activities of the masses, disorder will become Entrenched and evolve into the self entitled Rights of the people and state progress will become difficult if not almost an impossible task. In the name of advocating for citizens against the Nation/State, Human rights, civil society and a world more tightly connected due to information revolution will place huge obstacles in the path of your national and state developmental plans. |

I've not read every post so far on this thread so maybe I'm too hasty - but I'm waiting to read text sent from some absurd Nigerian with the latest Apple I phone stating that, "at least Sudanese people can find grass & peanut shells to eat but in Nigeria we can't find even that to eat!"

There's no shortage of individuals on either side of the debate ready to inform you, backed by technical analysis, why Crypto is good, bad, cutting edge, face of the future, fraud, fantasy etc. Yet the rest of the masses are none the wiser about the technology and left to thire own understanding and faith. Hower, there's one or two things you should know and which may help you in some ways. It is this: 1) Governments generally wish to know as much as possible the identity and capacity of her citizens. 2) Governments - you may be surprised - do not want masses of wealthy people. This is because wealthy people pose more danger to society than poor people. |

Niger Republic is the primary guilty party here not Nigeria and certainly not decisions Tinubu is yet to make. By inviting Russians to Niger Republic, the junta in Niemy brought the leading embers of neo cold war to our doorstep! The secondary guilty party are the very northern governors that are now warning Tinabu not to let America establish thire bases on Nigeria soil if America asks. They were chief among those that warned Tinabu as head of ECOWAs not to intervene to reinstate the overthrown "democratically " elected Niger regime. Nigeria's only l backup may be China. Nigerians need to understand also that in worst case scenario Russia and America will connive with each other than with any of the West Africa nations. White people will never meaningfully battle each other over black people or black people's interest. |

A Nigeria leader interested in the wellbeing of Nigeria may have no pragmatic choice than to consider accepting US military bases on Nigeria soil if America asks. This is because the moment Niger Republic invited Russia into Niger Republic, they exposed Nigeria to unacceptable dangers for which an American base on Nigeria soil becomes the lesser of several evils. Evils: 1) The international affairs that conspired to draw Niger Republic and Russia together almost certainly will boost terrorism in Nigeria. Either because Russia will directly Terrorism in Nigeria or indirectly cause an increase in terrorism in Nigeria by helping Niger Republic push them out of Niger Republic. Russia are more likely to do both. 2) If Nigeria snobs a US request to establish a military base in Nigeria, US will clandestinely assist terrorism in Nigeria. Anyway I have a head full of all the possible permutations but I can't be bothered to put them down here.... |

Actually, it is arguable that no development in history that was eventually responsible for propelling human society forward was a priority at the time, from electricity, computers, internet, to space travel. And historically the Western nations have often controlled and kept Africa backward by using the Prioritisation argument. For example, India had no business becoming a nuclear power when feeding thire poor masses and lifting millions from abject poverty was Priority at the time. 2 Likes |
