Hi HeavenlyBang. Morning bro. Back in 9ja and want to purchase the setup this week for a final installation on Sat. However I am still struggling with the issue of choice of battery. I have my eye set on a Felicity rated 7.5kwh 48V LiFePo4 at a decent price. But after doing a quick review research online, it appears some Felicity are known to not give 100% of their rated capacity. Please I need a final guidance from you before I go ahead and commit to a vendor today. Also going for a Growatt 6kva with Wifi monitoring and Jinko 620W s. Thanks.

Bro, buy any battery from a decent brand that fits your budget. We've been on this for weeks.

Hi House,

I'm looking for your opinions on Haisic battery systems for backup power, as I'm not going fully off-grid due to landlord restrictions on solar s. I'm on Band A power, which is mostly reliable, but we can experience outages of 16+ hours during rainy seasons.

My peak load is under 400W (excluding my fridge/freezer and a 150L Thermocool, which are currently off my 12V 105Ah inverter system). My total household consumption is around 700W according to my prepaid meter. I'm aiming for at least 14 hours of backup to get through the night with the 400W load, then I can use my generator to recharge and power the freezers.

I've seen a Haisic system d (though I'm relying on European specs due to some deceptive local marketing). The 24V 300Ah system costs ₦1.250m.

My main question is about system voltage:

Stick with a 12V system (e.g., Haisic 12V 280Ah for ~₦650k)?
Go for the Haisic 24V 300Ah system at ₦1.250m?
Or, is it worth waiting and stretching my budget (around ₦1.3m) for a 48V 5kWh system? I've read that jumping to 48V might be better in the long run.

Haisic 12v 280ah is about 460k. 24v 280aH is 800k.

the max voc of 80v on the powmr cc is for 12v system, it s 24 and 48v systems also which also has different max voc. Please refer to your manual for this.

I switched to hybrid inverter because of exactly this limitation on the powmr cc, it couldn't handle my 4 s on 12v system.

What inverter are you using now?

Chief. Update on the li-ion battery for rechargeable fan.

The battery arrived, 11.1v, connected directly and charging with normal AC charger. Everything is working fine and the speed is very Ok at speed 1. Lasts about 5:30 minutes. The charging indicator works fine and when battery is full it stops charging and shows green.

I doubt this can work for you as yours is 15v by default right? Mine is 12v.
Oh nice.

Please send a picture of the setup.

What those on such for close to 5 years now ?grin Though monitoring through Bluetooth is a good thing. But life no hard like that. What will tubular s now say using more than 4? grin

grin grin

But at least make person fit dey see wetin dey go on. It's one of the big advantages LFP is supposed to have over tubular after all.

Dam5reey1:

That is why the pack is Cheap.
If your battery is Full capacity you will understand the usage pattern in no time.

Only few of us even understand what cell, SOC mean. Even the percentage on our phones not sure we pay that much attention

Valid but then a smart BMS is max an extra 40-50k in price. Good trade-off for most people surely?
Las las it's a good buy for those who don't care much about monitoring ultimately. They can just rely on inverter voltage reading for SOC.
HeavenlyBang(m): 1:51pm On May 19
Dam5reey1:

Checking cells voltage is overrated, for me sha.

Good for troubleshooting.

So the battery has no screen or communications? How is SoC even checked?

The only con, they should have substituted that for a smart BMS.

Yeah, that makes it a no-go for me unfortunately.

This Haisic doesn't have a display at all fa? How would you check cell voltages on it?

Experts in the house, please are you familiar with Growatt 48V inverters and do they higher voltage batteries (51.2V)? I am looking at the datasheet of a Growatt inverter - Growatt Inverter - 6kVA 48V (SPF 6000 ES Plus), and it doesn't say anything about for higher voltage battery and ChatGPT is advising me to stick to a 48V battery. Thanks.

Inverter datasheet here - https://sygniteng.com/home/wp-content/s/2023/06/Growatt-SPF-6000-ES-Plus-Datasheet.pdf

48v is just a nominal value. In reality, "48v" batteries operate between 48v to 57v or so. So yes, 51.2v is fine.

Though to be honest, I wish people would just mention their budgets so advice can be short and straight to the point.

This so much. The modular nature of solar means all kinds of functional setups can be designed based on budget.

omotoda:

It is more like 80ah Grade c cell

In fact, I dont know what this oga is still waiting for.

Both the PRO and the installer should be in detention now.

All you need tell police is until they provide the quality you paid for, they should not be released.Na small money e go cost you.And you get an independent installer to confirm what they eventually supply before release. How can people be so wicked?

In this hard economy?

54% SoC for less than 1kwh. By my calculations, that's actually around a 70aH battery cheesy

I'd personally just ask for a complete refund tbvh.

Good morning guys, please I need help with my MPPT controller. I can't seem to get it to charge my battery even though there is PV input.

This is 10am, I drained the battery to 12.0v overnight and by 7.30am it had already gotten to "full" level at 12.8v and started flashing (mppt mode off), I plugged about 323w of load in it because it was pulling in like 560+w at the time.

To my suprise, the inverter voltage went down to 11.9v (22% load). After 2 hours I removed the fridge to about 14% load and the voltage went to 12.1v. funny enough the mppt still maintained that the battery is full and so it refuses to charge the battery or fast. I have the Manual with me and I don't know how to go about it.

My system: 12v 200ah tubular battery, 2*300w and 1 585w .

No offense but this is the kind of thing that happens with tubular batteries cheesy

Good morning great minds

Thanks to everyone once again for last time.

I’m back with reports as I’ve connected the shunt to the battery and loaded it all through last night. These were the final readings:

1st and 2nd picture: Shunt reading at the start and at the end of the experiment respectively.

3rd and 4th picture: Battery reading at the start and end of the experiment respectively.

The really funny thing here is that this battery isn't even up to 2.5kwh grin

Guys please i plan on getting a 200ah lithium battery (or two 100ah ones) and i plan to run them with solar s.I'm new to this solar thing and I'm a single guy in my 20's and will soon be moving out of my parents house. I don't want to have anything to do with generators and i want to be completely off grid. I've already paid for a single room self contain and i've bought a single 40watt standing fan(for my room), four light bulbs(one 20watt and three 10watts) and a new laptop that has a battery capacity of 68wh. Those are the only things that would consume electricity in my apartment, asides other very minor things. My worry now is that would 200ah be too much or too little for my electricity needs? i need to charge my laptop at most 3 times a day (under intensive use), two of the bulbs would be in my room while the others would be in the kitchen and bathroom respectively(i would rarely need to use those two). the bulbs in my room would typically be on from 6pm to 12am(when i usually sleep) and the fan is the only thing that i think might need to be on 24/7 (not necessarily though).

You'll be fine with a 200aH battery.

Good morning gurus in the house,

I am intending to change my 24V gel (lead-acid) type batteries to 48V LiFePO4 batteries and I came across some batteries that appear good on AliExpress. I am a bit sceptical about buying the 48V LiFePO4 batteries on AliExpress and shipping it down to Nigeria.

Please, does anyone have any experience on buying LiFePO4 batteries on AliExpress.

Why? You can buy batteries here in Nigeria for much cheaper.

See wahala o.
I ordered two 585W Jinko s from Fouani.
But this morning I got a call requesting me to a show room for my order. After I did so, I was informed by the show room manager that they only have one each of 590W and 580W.

I made payment on the 6/5/2025 when the s were much available. So, I don't know why this new development.

Fouani just dey do wetin sweet them this year.

I don't see why you'd have an issue with collecting the 580w and 590w sha. You'd just be losing 10w.
