This is what we have been urging our law-enforcement agencies to start adopting ; applying technologies to solve our problems. Its accurate, cheap and profitable. As individuals, Nigerians world-wide are embracing technology but our governments have refused to go full-hug. Who will declare a technology revolution in our public life.

Senate plenary shifted to CCT premises; Expect Senators loyal to corruption at CCT tomorrow. I hope APC leadership are keeping records of Senators that must not come back on APC platform in 2019. And if your Senator is ing corruption at CCT its time for you to start grooming their replacements ahead of 2019.

I trust that North-West Governor will not forget a single name and he will see to it they all get proper treatment 2019.

Please. I really want to start ing this change govt. But you have to explain something to me. I thought in life you don't force people into something, rather you create a new platform and people will follow suit. USA is corrupt but they still have the largest economy notwithstanding their size because the government have a direct with the governed. When buhari came into government I thought that is what he will do but am just totally confounded.

Baba is more that worth it, please him and you will not regret doing. I am not aware Baba has taken any extra-constitutional decisions forcing anyone to coo to. You may need to be more specific. I understand your high hope - you are not alone, millions of us were; we have APC and ourselves to blame.
Prior to elections while the APC were warning us of the mess being left behind by the PDP sixteen years in government they, however, did not hint us to brace-up for pains inherent in cleaning. But you and I should have known of impending pains considering the ways we have always been living lawlessly, haphazardly, and disorderly.
Processes have started to remove the stranglehold of the economy by the rich and mighty to reflect more on the downtrodden. Its a structural deformity that has been with us for decades and will take a while to dismantle.

mypayne:

He continued with the same style of government and just changed the way money is distributed which is the one he is supposed to have left(yes! People
are rejoicing but this will bring a great set back to Nigeria's economy) quote me anywhere. How can a country as big as Nigeria have TSA. Can central
bank pay all workers within a month(my mom was paid 2 weeks after payment week). 2ndly this TSA has handicapped all institutions that nothing
can be done, even emergency, without an unnecessary protocol.(Even to print certificates of graduates) its funny but its true. Loans in this
country is no more possible(who is now killing who). Change entails total Change and not an addition of harshness to an already existing worthless style of governance. Buhari's harshness will only die after his regime because he will not multiply himself into thousands to rule forever but if he had changed nigeria style of governance and if people like it, it will remain even when he is gone. Bet me this things he is doing will lead us
to nowhere, (when you chase the devil away from your house, and still kept the bread that attracted him, he will still come back.).

He continued the same constitutional style of government but with a new direction. We are moving forward; the immediate gains of his action have already proven right the decision. For your information TSA is not new to Nigeria ; it was adopted post-independence, as-a-matter-of-fact it is a constitutionally enshrined dictate. Like every new method, TSA has had its stuttering start but these foibles are being addressed and fixed daily. If you encountered any logjam in the process of using TSA I advise you the relevant government ministry or department; I am sure they will take your complaints and address them.
What do you mean by harshness? Do you mean his no-corruption posture. We have endured lawlessness and chaos for decades but our shared resolve brought in the change ; if we believe we can institutionalize discipline and dignity in our society; its for you and I to say and do all-the-time.

mypayne:

... Which the masses fail to see in the last government and voted Goodluck out. (I don't blame anybody). You don't pour new wine in an old wine but you can wash the bottle and pour it. Am not against you in believing in Buhari but have you sat down to analyze his methods. Also have you realized that every thing Buhari is taking credit of was to you people, the clueless otuoke Man's idea and implementation. He has gone and will never come back. A hero is always
silent because he understands the implication of ignorance. Thirdly, people assume that the last government failed in security. But has it been restored. Many Buhari er now know the truth but are too ashamed to it. that force is never the answer. I want people to give me their views.

Ex-President Jonathan is not a topic I enjoy discussing. Government and governance was taking to the lowest possible level. I hope you are Nigerian following Nigerian happenings. If you watch the ministerial nominees interviews you will see most nominees are also aware of what you have recommended but we have hardly had an enabling leadership to effect positive changes in the system. Keep praying and believing in Nigeria...it shall be well with us!

FOLYKAZE:

Npt everyone are versed in politics and law.
But can you help and tell us what could possibly happen to Saraki case after the AP refused to deliver it judgment yesterday?
I have asked different law students and they are making thr whole thing complicated for me. Thanks

There is only one case against Saraki ; this is the case brought against Saraki by the CCB before CCT - Saraki on the other hands did not want to answer his charges and would rather have a superior court stop his case before CCT.
what we have before the Appeal Court was initially initiated at the High Court. The High Court hands have been washed off Saraki's plea to stop the trial so he romped to Appeal Court.

His first attempt at stalling the trial failed and his trial at CCT, substantially, commenced so his renew effort at stalling the trial has failed again ;
What Saraki wants is an Appeal Court pronouncement to stop his trial at the CCT - Nothing has changed in Saraki's trial before the CCT since the Appeal Court has deferred taking any decision on Saraki's pleas.

Saraki: 5 Things We Learned from Yesterday's Court of Appeal (Non)-Ruling

... and who goes down. This is a serious matter that should not be taken lightly. Despite the fact that Dr. Saraki emerged as the President of the Senate without the backing of his party, the APC, he has on two occasions been found worthy by his Distinguished Colleagues in the Red Chamber. Accordingly, as the lawmakers found Saraki worthy of upholding the Senate Leadership, those who are opposed to his tenure in that position should take a leaf from the Senate’ legislative branch, and suspend their dangerous dealings.
Oluwaseyi David Tosin writes from Port Harcourt

Change means doing things in different ways. Having being used to anomalies, we expect people to be apprehensive of change. Majority campaigned and voted for change and that is exactly what we are getting today.

The beginning may be rough and tough but it is all for a greater tomorrow.

Most people act before thinking ; if some of these APC Senators had been more careful they would not have had everyone at a cross-road like this.
Most of these Senators honestly know they could not have won any election against anyone running under Buhari's APC yet they were drifting away from Buhari/Party's advices.
They have created a state for themselves where they can not confidently demonstrate their majority because of their gnarled decisions. Why would they allow their destinies to be tied to the self-inflicted-problem of a Senator? Constitutionally, any Senator is qualify to head the Senate so why tagging along with Saraki.
Well in a couple of months numbers will change - positions will be won and lost from tribunals. And in three and a half years time INSHA ALLAH Baba name shall be on ballot again but many of these lots shall not.

Pure rubbish. What sort of newspaper expect a tribunal or court to be called into an inane debate over legal issues? So perhaps we had been doing it wrong in the past we should not improve on it? Is this another all-thieves-must-be-prosecuted-at-the-same-time or we-all-corrupt nonsense?

Could you explain further?
IMHO,he acted the only way open to him, which was approaching the FHC to question the CCT's jurisdiction.
Or is there another angle? Kindly expatiate.. thx.

No sir. He acted like a rogue Lawmaker. CCT is a judicial body of unquestionable jurisdiction in public officers assets declaration cases. Saraki is 'supposed' to be the Chief Law-maker and hence Chief Law-respecter of the Land.

Instead of facing his charges he was running round to stop proceedings. if he had nothing to hide he should clear his name before the CCT; after all, he has opportunity to appeal any undesirable decision by the CCT.

The same Saraki has, twice, ignored court summons in a different case brought against his Senate ; he did not send in lawyers nor give any reasons for his absence. This type of personality cannot continue to sit as the head of our nations highest lawmaking body.

...We had to wait for a very long time for the author of the petition against Amaechi who came all the way from Port Harcourt,” he stated.
“We decided in our magnanimity, to take the respondent (Amaechi). The session didn’t last too long because he said the matter was in court regarding his indictment by the white paper by the Rivers State Commission of Inquiry,” the senator explained.
...

When people are doing hatchets they should at least belie their motives. You waited patiently for Amaechi's enemies to establishe a petition against him but you see Amaechi's right to defense as a mere magnanimity of your committee.

It is preposterous in the first place for the Senate to be entertaining cases that are already before a court of competent jurisdictions. These people are wasting our precious time and resources. This is a matter the Senate is constitutionally forbidden to make any pronouncement on.
Will the Senate now say based on your political enemies recommendation we will not allow you to serve your fatherland as requested by Mr. President.
Will the Senate also stop the Rivers state Senators from functioning when and if National Human Right Commission submit petitions on live killings of APC ers by PDP thugs? The killings were aired live from Okrika - we do not even need to start looking for evidences; videos are on youtube.

This case is purely judicial and can only be settled through judicial procedures.

The only pronouncements that are regarded as law from the Assembly are bills that have been dully processed.

Anyway, this is one of the styles of the usual suspect Senator Saraki; he is adopting leverage against his numerous graft cases before various courts of the land. This committee task is a waste of public fund irrespective of their recommendations; recommendations that will only be advisory and lack legal weight.

Cases like this are the true test for democracy. We have the constitution and laws protecting the right of every citizen but those charged with the duty of applying and enforcing the laws have always shied away.

In a true democracy the law should not be seen to be dichotomous - where one is made for rich and connected; and other, exclusive, for the poor.

Ekiti elites are to blame for Fayose's continue demeaning of governance. Reasonable Ekiti people better start showing interest in the governance of their state else Fayose will continue disgracing them with series of disgusting attitudes.

Obviously, Fayose actions show he is obsessed with politics - he goes to bed and wakes up thinking about how to remain the sole god of Ekiti people. He does not have time for meaningful planning and development. Ekiti people should visit other states and understand how backward Fayose's monkeyshines are taking the state.

Pls for God sake let's come up with Names don't misquote me, ther are youths bt no one has been able to come up with a name of a particular youth that wil fit into d cabinet....

Many successful Nigerian youth are usually too preoccupied with their calling and hardly like hugging fame. If you must have names check some youth that have been featured on 'Young Boss'. And again many of the most 'successful' religious Leaders are below 45 - They have raised and managed billions, they have 100s of thousand (including aged) looking up to them for direction.

Yomboy4ever:
into d cabinet... I hope we are not talking about d same youths dat endorsed buruji kashamu as d man of d year..

Do you realize there are contemporaries of these focus-less youth who have raised tens of millions of naira for laudable courses. If you visit some Nigerian universities you will see mufti-million naira projects being exclusively managed by students. These resourceful students develop initiatives to raise fund, manage the fund and execute projects even when they are still in school.
Ghandi12: 10:56am On Oct 14, 2015
Nigerian youth need to understand some realities. Leadership comes in various forms : recommendation from a strong voice, exceptional performance or providence.

Being a youth is not a proven criteria for a being a successful manager or leader. Neither is being over sixty be translated to mental or physical weakness. For instance El-Rufai, Ribadu (and others below 50 years) were recommended for service to OBJ government. But these two availed themselves of given opportunities to demonstrate an uncommon ion for their tasks. They made mistakes but all-in-all the elders saw them as rough diamonds, believed in them and gave them more challenging responsibilities.

Today El-Rufai is not only a Governor but a major force in the ruling APC party. On the other hands Ribadu was, practically, begged to stand as the Presidential standard bearer of ACN and today his name always comes tops anytime the opposition PDP discusses their rebuilding plan.

We have seen many other youth given similar opportunities : Bankole and Dino are youth but can anyone seriously endorse any of them for challenging tasks?

The youth should embrace mentoring; it prevents repetition of mistakes made by elders in the past.

However, there are many Nigerian youth who have excelled in different areas of endeavors, globally, but the political system can only give chance to those noticed or have shown interests. Youth who are ready for political leadership should test their acceptance like everybody in their constituencies.

People should not take responsibilities they are not prepared for just because they want to be included.

Another unfortunate loss. We should not waste time apportioning blames, its time to start trying out all alternative strategies that have been proffered by concerned Nigerians.

The Military have to see this less as a war but an internal and cruel civil disobedience by some radicals. It is no more we against them on the battle-field. Almost all the incidents in the last 3 months have been carried out by the usual suspects who easily blend with innocent people before attacking.

Efforts and strategies should be continued to identifying suspicious behaviors in public gatherings - this is where technology is vital. When nations have internally-originated attacks like these they go very serious on public sensitization and public centers surveillance.

There are reports of some arrest. The security agents should recreate crime scenes and use them as part of sensitization materials in IDP camps, public gatherings and home tv.

We have been deceived of so many things in life. Thank God for some iconoclasts who have, times without number, proven many age-long beliefs wrong.
For instance many of us are in school because we want to become rich but many people have abandoned school and have gone on to be enlisted on the annals of the world richest.http://www.mytopbusinessideas.com/school-drop-out-billionaires-successful-entrepreneurs/.

In this country we have had our economy managed by Ivy-league trained and world renown technocrats. We have received several -marks from reputable global bodies yet our poverty line has remained unperturbed.

As a nation we need to start looking at home-grown solutions to our domestic problems; what are the basic needs of our people to reduce poverty, and stimulate healthy economic well-being among our people.

For instance between 2007 and 2015 Fashola and Akpabio, arguably, have been rated as the most-outstanding among their peers ; both of them are home-grown.

World-Bank, IMF,JP-Morgan and similar bodies were founded by the world powers and I doubt if their primary interests include taking Nigeria to an enviable position on the world stage. Only a Nigerian can feel the pains of Nigerians and do something about them. We should consider secondary the figures being reeled out by these global bodies on our economy.

Our economic well-being should be measured on the practical impacts and indices, of government policies, on our people. Power supply has considerably improved, virtually, everywhere in Nigeria while many businesses are also finding it difficult to adjust to the new government policies - these are examples of economic reality of today Nigeria. The new government should strive to consolidate on the observed gains of decisions taken so far while challenges thrown-up should be reviewed to achieve desirable results.

We should stop looking out for donations or directions from Big-Brothers. They have their own interests, which may not necessarily be in consonance with our own decision to improving the economic well-being of our people.

Hello! President Buhari and Military Top Brass need to start looking inward in putting an absolute end to the BH debacle. The factors surrounding the continue festering of BH problem can be reduced into the following:

1. Corruption in the appropriation and management of security votes :

This can be effectively managed by the Buhari-led-Presidency and incorruptible Military Chiefs in ensuring all approved funds are judiciously applied to purposes they were appropriated for.

2. Motivations for radicalization :

Motivations for radicalization can best be identified by the society where these insurgents were brought-up (not the West). For instance people have alluded to some religion teachings. There are also reports of forceful conscription. These motivations were built by the society and the society has all it takes to invalidate them.

3. Extreme poverty and youth redundancy :
A situation where the few stash Billions of public fund abroad while millions of commoners pander to the rich for daily meal is unacceptable. Borrowing from President Buhari's speech - "...we have been and still sitting on a gun of gun-powder..". There should be a deliberate effort to redistribute wealth, especially in the areas where the rich-to-poor ratio is extremely low. The super-rich are expected to show understanding for a more peaceful society by accepting higher taxes. The rich are also encouraged to get more involved in philanthropy that bring quality education to the downtrodden; affordable health-care to the aged; and vocational training for unemployed. Begging should be discouraged in our society.

4. Adoption of Modern communication and security system technology :

We should stop being shy of technology. Technologies improve efficiency, accuracy, and ability. Interestingly, technology is always cheaper in the long-run in almost every sphere of human endeavor it is being applied.

For example it costs much less than N1 Million naira to secure and monitor a structure on a 2 plots of land with 11 surveillance cameras and alarms. And once this technology is installed the maintenance cost almost becomes picayune. With modern technology this hypothetical structure can be monitored, real-time, from anywhere in the world, even on mobile electronic gadgets. It means a concerned Dad with family in Lagos can monitor his family home from his mobile phone in Abuja or London. Intruders can be identified, alarms can auto-trigger, and security operatives can be auto-called.

This same structure would have required at least 6-human-force to monitor, as-a-matter-fact, inefficiently. These force need a place to sleep and unwind. They cannot have access to some areas technology can easily cover. They need sundry maintenance for fuel, collation and communication. They also have human-limitation to the force they can confront or identify if the structure is intruded. Any common human laxity from any member of the force can also compromise the entire human arrangement thing.

These types of technology are not as expensive as the number of human lives that will be saved with their adoption.
Ghandi12: 9:59pm On Oct 08, 2015
The Nigerian Army have our prayers and s always.

I will en the Military to embark on an aggressive technology drive in their operations. While money can procure arms and ammunition; human live is invaluable.

Continue matching of insurgents with human force will only make us susceptible to further, avoidable, collateral damages. The Military should change focus to modern technologies and reduce reliance on brawn powers.

So many suggestions have been proffered on intelligence gathering on this platform and many others. Intelligence gathering should include identifying the ultimate motivations behind insurgents actions. Developing effective means of diluting these motivations in the minds of potential copy-cats.

The Military should employ the services of professional psychologists/thinkers/sociologists who specialize in scientifically handling adverse social trends.

Soldiers should be drawn to computers and modern electronic gadgets. People are already sending live information from other planets to their country on Earth. Managing our small God-given portion of the Earth should be taken more seriously with modern techniques.

One cannot but wonder what the primary purpose of government is. What possible gain can US or Russia derive from the escalation of the crisis we already have in Syria and other parts of the middle-East.

When the world leaders gather they make so much rhetoric in of : peace in every corner of the world; food and quality standard of living for every individual but their practical actions totally negate the spirit of their speeches.

In recent time these war-backers have put no one in doubt they so much need a 3rd world war. When they start God help us all.
