Why can't APC be this efficient at the national assembly? Saraki is surplus to necessity in the ruling party and should have been removed since,. |

If this informaotion is correct: * It means the Nigerian police has not been respecting the legal minimum wage of N18,000/month. * Question: How many government establishments are also paying much less than the legal wage of N18,000/month? These people are expected to provide security but States have security votes sent to Governors every year. How do you explain to a non-Nigerian that the IGP of police earn about N10 million/annum after about 3 decades in service but a lawmaker goes home with upward of N200 million/annum? Okay when will true change start? |

Good thinking...but I can assure you they know all this by now. What surprises me is why they are almost always slow to solving simple problems with known solutions. They do not have that spirit of "urgency of now". There also appear to be a structural deform that impedes swift decision-making, thorough implementation, solid enforcement, and periodic review. Take a visit to immigration/custom/nsdc/police/ministeries offices - My brother most of them are over-staffed. They do not have much jobs to do and usually lack equipment to work. Six officers may work on a single one-page document for one week. Many of these redundant staff should be put to optimal security service. As per our refineries - they are "huge" and "old" and have suffered poor maintenance. The cost of bringing them to modern standards may be enough to build smaller but more efficient ones. Honestly speaking I do not see much future with the 4 government refineries. |

donbenedict: My brother not every Nigerian believes in earning Millions/Billions while leading dying people. Even among current leaders there are a few that have sacrificed their salaries. One of the serving ministers for example is earning a fraction of what he was earning as a private man. Serving one's fatherland should be a thing of pride not an avenue to become rich. 41 Likes 3 Shares |

Decryptor: Not all good deeds yield desired results but good people will always live in our hearts. People are becoming more aware of egregious acts of Nigeria political class. Thank God for this current hardship - we are learning a lot and our well-being shall guide our future actions. A leader that is not ready to be able to the people will be rewarded accordingly. 2 Likes |

I salute SR efforts at championing transparency and ability in Nigeria. These people are public servants - we have the fundamental right to them politely, objectively and appropriately but they do not want to be ed. Out of curiosity I googled "Addresses, Phone Numbers and E-mail of State Governors in US these politicians like running to". Expectedly, I got an easy one http://people.smu.edu/rhalperi/governors.html Why is Nigeria always different? Why is everything always shrouded in secrecy or wrapped in boring story of "it is sensitive issue"?

If one ever find happiness in this live - it is never stainless! Keep your joy from public glare even if the whole world bow at your feet. Two helpless souls. They will be back together in nearest future but, sadly, they have already told the world too much. 4 Likes |

Everyone is going through something... My candid advice to Linda Ikeji: 1. Before you report dark sides of people always ask yourself if you had ever reported anything good about them before. 2. Ultimately, when people try everything to keep their "issues" private please stop being the foremost one taking them to public. As you must realized many of them are keeping your file... |

Smart Senators better start consulting for the No. 3 seat now... We have already crossed the rubicon, Saraki can longer be respected by anyone again. Even if APC try to help him it is already too late to launder his battered image in the public court. |

My first instinct stands with El-Rufai on this religion discordance in Kaduna state. He has one of the toughest state crises to keep under control - I pray God help him.

I am cautious to believe every news I read. I read here on nairaland there was a gathering of herdsmen for a possible attack on this community - coming back here to read again people were killed inspite of the 1-day fore-knowledge of this incident really make me sad. This is not a good omen 1 Like |

Okay when will the House of Representatives or Senate hold a special session on this incident? Last time a Rep. was brushed they were all over seeking public sympathy. This is what a common man faces everyday and unfortunately it has not "changed" under PMB. |

Jonathan lost - here we are today. Saraki: stoned by his kith, avoided by the wise...live goes on afterwards. |

Where is the source of this news? This has Saraki's style all over it. Saraki we know is a desperado and will do anything to deflect truth. Let's wait for this Dr. Ahmed to speak before anyone believes this news. |

NANS, NLC and TUC should recognize Sahara reporters for leading this peaceful revolution. Sir, we have read your submission but like your colleagues you did not say anything about "the people". We are disenchanted with the Senate because you have too-much money when we can barely survive in different states. We have all been making this known to Senate but the Senate has been more preoccupied with sharing millions and trowing-up intrigues. Sir, you have been elected based on your antecedents - Please speak and act for common people's interests at all time. Senator Saraki is too desperate and arrogant - his problem should not be any good Senator's problem. Please work on your huge take-home, sponsor bills for downtrodden and stand by truth always - you will never need to explain yourself to us. 1 Like |

enlightenedmind: This is another logical suggestion but the problem remains we already have an Assembly in place. Who has the legitimate powers to start this discussion and implement the change? Pidggin: With available evidences since 1999 this question has become more than relevant. Are you suggesting people with N18,000/month wage should continue tolerating N200 million lawmakers so they can save us from some dictator. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/08/nigerian-lawmakers-are-the-highest-paid-in-the-world/ ... |

Gbawe: Bros most people who have been closely following issues since 1999 will not agree you speak with fact. It has been scientifically proven APC=PDP. Almost 70% of the current APC govs and lawmakers were one-time-or-the-other active PDP . |

The Federal government is practically being hampered as Saraki remains the SP. The consequence of which every Nigerian citizen is sharing the toll. Not like the executives are saints in this debacle but this unending rancor is sniffing live out of common man. Saraki should please resign and enjoy his senatorship abeg.

Ovamboland: As constituted today, is the HoR still relevant to our development? As constituted today, is the Senate still relevant to our development? I believe these are the first questions that need our honest answers. Cost of course is a strong factor in making our decision. When we inaugurated 469-member 4th Assembly 1999 we had a very buoyant economy with our population estimated as around 120 million. All States were well-funded from the center. But today our economy is receding, our population is now put at 180 million. Some experts have alleged 24 out of 36 States are currently insolvent and the near future is still looking bleak. But the Assembly has pegged their annual budget at N150 billion/annum - they do not care what happens to the States. Ovamboland: Sir, the maintenance cost is no more possible nor defendable! I agree with you the Assembly we have now since 1999 has hardly been criticized for hegemony of a unit over others. With only 1 PDP state out of 19 northern states one would have thought PMB would have it easy-prissy with the 8th Assembly but he has not. But there has been too much emphasis on financial benefits for lawmakers than service. We now quote people saying they want to go to Senate to rest/retire; some committees are "juicy" some are not; ministers have 4 suvs why cant they have 1 v8,. Most talks from Senate today have nothing to do with the people they were primarily elected to serve. What is wrong with a Senator earning N12 million/annum? Statistics have shown they earn more than Obama, Merkel. With a cumulative N1 million/month take-home for every lawmaker the country we only expend 12 x 469 = N5.628 billion/annum on lawmakers take-home annually. Their annual budget should not be more than N10 billion, especially in this difficult time. Anyone who cannot take this "small" take-home should resign and allow people with ion for service come on board. Ovamboland: Another good option. But the most difficult question is who will legally or constitutionally start this process? |
