Then if 500 naira will be charged for every 20k cash withdrawal on off-site ATM, then POS is quite cheaper cos POS charge 400 naira for 20k withdrawal.

From my perspective, the talks about POS being the reason why ATM doesn't dispense is completely out of it. Few POS Agents visit the ATM for withdrawal....and if you are deeply into POS, I see no reason why you should withdraw from the ATM because it is time wasting, you may not get enough funds as you want and you will even spend more.

The truth is POS Agents rely solely on retailers such as big supermarkets, petrol stations for their daily cash and it has been working perfectly as the retailers has been discouraged from taking huge cash to the banks since the Emefiele's experience.

Suffice to say POS or Agency banking has been able to achieve its objectives, not only that, they are even contributing significantly to economic growth by creating employment and the government is also making so much from the Fintechs.

The root cause still lies with the CBN who has proven to be quite poor in her policies, procedures, enforcements and regulations.

Sometimes I wonder how we got to this stage in our nation's history. People doing what they like without any check or concrete regulations from the government. Just last week, I needed a sim and I went to the mobile MTN stores ....what I experienced still baffles me till today. The guy was doing the thumbprinting part by himself on behalf of the customers. I inquire why he was doing that and he said it is for the process to be fast. I now told him the implications of what he was doing and I insisted I will do the thumbprinting myself, he said no way....I got my money back and left asap. That's the country we find ourselves.....

I will like to talk about the misconception about bank officials selling cash to POS Agents.
There is a possibility of this happening but it may be limited to areas where there are less business activities.
There are lots of issues affecting the traditional banks ecosystem which gave rise to the popularity of POS, some of these are; lack of trust in the conventional banks, network issues, poor customers relations, poor dispute resolution, frivolous charges such as charges on cash deposits amongst others.
Now, the Fintechs steps into the business, capitalized on the weaknesses of the traditional banks and are ahead of the game. That's why the POS are quite popular, they are so popular that either you like it or not, there is no way you won't have something to do with them. I have seen or heard on many occasions whereby customers call POS agents in the middle of the night to help them recharge their prepaid meters, which bank officials can do that at that wee hours?
So basically, the ease that comes with the operations of POS is what contributed to its acceptability and popularity.
In another scenario, I have been trying to get a first bank ATM card for three times now but each time I visit, I usually spend like 30-40mins there without any success.....it's either the network is down or the cards are finished. That's not the same with the Fintechs, you get an instant card within 3-4mins.
Now, going back to the way POS have cash.......before the Emefiele cash scarcity era, businesses use to deposit large sum of money in the banks, whatever they make either daily or weekly, they take it to the bank and deposit it, but during the cash scarcity period, they were overwhelmed with POS people who approached them for cash, some of them gave it out for free while it was reported that a larger part of them sold it. So after the cash scarcity period, businesses were no longer comfortable of taking huge cash to the banks anymore as the POS people are still coming for the cash. So in summary, POS people get their cash from businesses such as petrol stations, coldrooms, restaurant, major market, supermarkets, NURTW , Hotels and nightclubs etc. For those claiming that bankers sell cash to POS Agents, please, do your research well, most of the businesses I mentioned above don't take cash to the banks anymore, they give to POS Agents who in turn transfer to their and funds reflect promptly.

You are just making issue out of nothing. The registry people made a mistake on my marriage certificate, Infact they made a mistake with my surname and hubby's own. When we found out, we returned the certificate to them and to my surprise, the head of the unit corrected the errors with ordinary pen. I have never had any challenge using the certificate. I have used it for my change of name, for a new job and even abroad without any complain. So, why disturb yourself over it. What if there was a mistake from the registry just like mine, would you have killed yourself? Let her get an affidavit to back it. All the best.
Hello Ma, in your own case, did you use an affidavit to back it up?

The declarant can do it without your presence and Vice versa. Provided you provide your right infor to the person declaring for you (that is if she is doing it without your presence)

Your info should tally with what is in your international port, and you should provide her with two of your port photographs (cos those at NPC will need them)

If you are doing it without your aunt being present, then you can sign with her initials, e.g her name is Akinola Grace, you sign with AG.

And do to inform her of how you signed for her on the affidavit, cos the lawyer that will come for verification will ask her to resign the affidavit in his/her presence.....mine did same to me.

Am I making sense or not?
You're on point Sir and I am really glad I could get prompt response. I think I will have her do it without my presence. What is the color of the background for the port? so that I know what to send to her. Once again, thanks!

NPC was established in 1992. You can’t use that small grey paper certificate because you were born in 1988. That’s before NPC was established.

Somebody who is, at least, 8 years above your age must do age declaration for you in a competent law court. Don’t do it at magistrate courts o or at courts where they don’t usually come to work.

Let your declarant go to state High Court of Federal High Court where their staff normally come to work regularly.

After getting the age declaration done, your delarant can then proceed to NPC to get a birth certificate for you on their letter-head that would include the port of your declarant.

The person declaring for you would be the one Austrian lawyer would talk to and the person must know 99% things about you.

It’s better the person is your family member or uncle or aunt etc. don’t use your friends o.

Also, DONT FORGET TO INCLUDE THE PERSON’S (DECLARANT’S) NAME ON THE FORM YOU FILL THAT YOUR ARE SUBMITTING AT THE EMBASSY, AS PART OF YOUR RELATION. OF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, THE EMBASSY LAWYER WILL PICK IT AGAINST YOU AND TOU WILL HAVE TO DO ANOTHER AGE DECLARATION AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND PAY ANOTHER 200k TO THE EMBASSY.

SO, MAKE SURE YOU STATE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PERSON ON THE FORM TOO AND IT HAS TO CONFORM WITH THE ONE YOU USE ON THE AGE DECLARATION AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
Thanks so much for this detailed answer, I quite appreciate. That being said, can I do this without the presence of my declarant or can my declarant do this without my presence? The reason for asking this is that we live apart, she is my Aunt and she resides in Akure while I live in Lagos. I anticipate your response to my questions as I need to act fast. Thanks

This is for less payments, not your regular transfer or card payment.

With less payment cards, all you need do is bring your card close to a compliant POS machine and payment would be automatically taken from your card without you having to insert the card in the machine or inputting your pin. less payments don't exist in Nigeria YET; I'm guessing they're just about to introduce it. But I doubt it would work in Nigeria though, especially given the sheer number of fraudsters we have.
It exists for a while now, I use it especially when my card chip is dirty and not reading the card. It started with GTB Mastercard but there's no awareness of it so people don't know. I have been using it for the past 10 months.

It is no gainsaying that the candidate who can do so well in the North and perform averagely in the South is going to win the forthcoming presidential election. And as it were, if nothing changes, the arrow points to Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.

Stop calling people dumb when you are the dumb person yet can't see it. POS can get whatever waiver they want but they will still not be able to dispense more cash to customers who have reached their weekly or daily limit.

They will end up having excess cash customers cannot take off them because they have already withdrawn their upper limit. This policy does not favour POS operators.

Most people will even stop using POS altogether because a cash withdrawal limit of 100k weekly and 20k daily leaves them much better off using their ATM to withdraw 20k to pay 35 Naira charge than withdraw same amount with a POS operator to pay 400 Naira commission.

POS operators are the big losers with this policy. Take a minute to think about it and stop arguing blindly.

You forget that this policy is about making Nigeria more cashless and not empowering POS operator to be ad hoc replacements to banks as they operate currently.

This can't be true......Fine.....the customer's card are restricted to only 20k per day but customers who need more cash can transfer any amount to the POS Agent and get the cash equivalent. There is no restrictions to the amount you can transfer to someone. I think it's 5 or 2 million per day. Even before the CBN limit, most people especially the younger ones prefer to do transfer to card withdrawal. Just have it at the back of your mind that there will always be a mad rush for cash so the whole thing is to a large extent an advantage of the POS Agent. The only challenge the Agent will face is if there is no waiver or a review.....then it will be hard. But if there is a waiver or a review of say to 50/100k per day, it's to the advantage of the POS Agent.

The card was obviously swapped by the person pretending to help at the ATM gallery. That's why the card was not seen inside the ATM Vault. It's quite unfortunate......Young people should try as much as possible to enlighten our aged parents especially on ways to avoid scams and more importantly, shape their opinion on the best candidate to vote for come February.

Without sentiments, if the elections were to be held today, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP will emerge. He will sweep most of the Northern states and perform averagely in the South to emerge the winner. Tinubu is banking on the of the Northern Governors and I am afraid, this isn't a primary election where he "fought so hard" to emerge the winner. As a matter of fact, if not for the Northern Governors, he wouldn't have emerge the APC flag-bearer. If you're still thinking Tinubu will defeat Atiku Abubakar in the core Northern states, please check the 2019 presidential election results on Google. The poor performance of APC-led istration in the last eight years coupled with the same-faith ticket will likely work against the APC in the forthcoming polls. The indications are not too clear now but in about a month to the polls, it will be so glaring who will emerge. Pls note that I am not a member or er of the PDP nor it candidate but that's the sad reality on ground. Just watch and see what happens!

With the current calculation, the candidate who can perform optimally in the North and who can perform averagely in the south will ultimately emerge the winner of the forthcoming presidential election. So, without any sentiment, have a deep reflection of the candidate to beat in the North. The arrow points to Atiku Abubakar of the PDP. I hardly post on Nairaland and I am not one of his ers but the sad reality is that if the elections are to be held today, Atiku will emmerge. All things being equal, power isn't coming to the south, it will remain in the North.....except a merger of two of the three leading parties happens.

You will be surprised that most of Tinubu votes in this primary will come from the north, you see states like Kano, katsina and Borno is 100% lockdown by Jagaban.

States like Kaduna, Adamawa, Niger and kwara will give 80% to jagaban.

These are outside his Southwest base o, Lagos and Osun has a very high number of delegates, only below Kano and Katsina I think, these two states is also 100% lockdown for Jagaban.

You all will be thought another master class in politics by June 1st grin grin
I still don't understand how Borno state can be for Jagaban when Prof. Zulum is the sitting governor and he is tipped to be the probable running mate for PYO

So on Thursday 3rd of march 2022, I came down from the Keke I had entered and realized my phone was missing, I quickly rushed back to the Keke to search but couldn't find my phon. I asked the driver who told me he didn't see it either and other engers had left.

So another Keke driver who was there assisted me with his phone to call my line, it rang without response @ first I taught I forgot it where I was coming from until I got home and called but was told it wasn't there then I realized I was either pick pocketed or the phone fell off from my pocket in the Keke.

I felt reluctant to call my bank to block my because I felt my sim was secured because I had the sim and phone lock activated. So to me there's no how my can be accessed using my sim because of the sim lock but I was wrong.

I was intending to go retrieve my line on Monday but on Sunday I decided to access my email using another phone only to find out my has been cleared without leaving a single dime.

I called Access bank customer service who confirmed my fears.....I asked them if I can have details of the the monies were transferred to they told me it's not traceable as the transaction was a cardless withdrawal using POS....I don't understand how possible it is for the transaction not to be traceable, how cardless transaction can be initiated without pin or otp,is it possible for sim lock to be byed......I am still confused.

Please what could have happened in this case and how can I go about it?
Reacting to this post, seems the story is not adding up. The OP must have forgot to lock his/her sim card or used a weak .

Secondly, all POS machine are ed with a name which could be an individual or a company with a terminal identity number. So the saying that "because it is a POS transaction, it can't be traced" is a big lie.
But the point people don't understand is that the POS attendant in most cases are innocent.... meaning that they know nothing about the crime, the fraudsters are using the POS to cash money out. And as long as the fraudster is able to get the pin correctly, the transaction is deemed successful, the POS Agent hands over the cash equivalent to the fraudsters and that is what he or she knows about the transaction. To the POS Agent, the transaction is successful and would probably say a "thank you" to the fraudster because there is no way the Agent can deduce that he or she is a fraudster.

Now, the proliferation and acceptance of the POS/Cashless Policy by the federal government is the reason why financial crime is on the increase. The cashless policy is a good idea but then, you don't just introduce an idea without weighing the challenges and finding solutions to it. There are errors in it's operations.

For some of you that are talking about POS Agent, try to find out the rules guiding Agents before jumping into conclusion that Agents are conspiring with fraudsters to scam people out of their hard-earned money. This is where the Know Your Customer (KYC) comes to play. As to the terminal issuer like Opay, the Agents are to request for a means of ID from a potential customer only if the transaction is 100k and above. The amount varies but ideally, it start from 100k and above because by the time you input 100k, the system would remind you that there is need to collect the details of the customer. That's why some terminals now comes with pre-installed , meaning you can snap pictures of the customer or his or her means of Identity which is stored on the POS automatically and attached to that transaction because every transaction has a unique transaction ID. So in the event that the said transaction is reported and you're mandated to give an of who came to withdraw the money, the Agent can easily send the picture and means of identity of the fraudster to the terminal issuer which will aid the Police in their investigation. But the truth is not all Agents do this. Most of the Agents don't know anything about the business, just into it because it is lucrative at the moment. Now, most Agents don't know that they don't need to request for Customers ATM card when transacting, if the card is a MasterCard, you just use the "Tap option" on the POS and the customer will just tap the card on the POS just to read the card. This is done in less than 3 secs. So using this features, the customers are satisfied that the Agent don't have access to their card.

I will take my time to talk about how the CBN have failed to address the menace of crimes perpetrated using POS. Firstly, the issuer talking about Opay, Moniepoint, Firstmonie, palmpay and others are banking on the guidelines given to them by the CBN, know that most of these issuers are sometimes punished for going against the rules. The issue about identification should be taken seriously. For instance, you say you only need identification for any amount that's 100k and above, what if the fraudster collects 20k in five POS stands? He or she wouldn't need to tender any identification since the amount sought to withdraw is not up to the threshold of identification. As for the banks fraud via mobile banking app, USSD, e-channels amongst others, the banks can add extra security features to address this issue. They know how to do this but don't really know why they are not doing what is right. Though, I am not surprised because a fraudster will walk into a bank to fill a teller to receive funds via Western Union, the banks know it's a fraud and they will still go ahead to give out the money. So many things are wrong with the system. We have seen cases where a bank official and his accomplices were caught while trying to rob an ATM gallery where he works. (It happened in Abuja). The guy actually works at the Customer care desk and have access to a large database of customers information. So you can imagine that the system is too bad.

Sadly, most customer are vulnerable in nature, they tell POS Agents, "this is my pin, enter it". And by the time he or she patronizes the Agent 2-3 times, the Agent is able to get the card details and that's all. In no time, would be wiped out and the rest is history. Some of the Agents are fraudsters also, especially those that were employed. They don't care since the terminal is not ed in their name. Of point to note is that most of the Agents are not really qualified to be an Agent. The POS business is more than how it is perceived. We are talking about handling and transacting in millions every month. There are so many qualities expected of an Agent, I would talk briefly about "Observation" using myself as a case-study. Sometimes ago, a lady came to my Stand with a male friend around 8pm to transact. Mind you, an ATM gallery is not far from my Stand. She requested to withdraw 100k, I told her I would need a means of Identity or I snap her, she declined. She ask me if I could debit her card of 200k and transfer the said amount to an . I told her it's possible but that I also need to reference her name in the reference section and of course, I would need her ID card for that as well. They moved a bit from my shop and were discussing for about 10 mins. Then she came back to me that she wanted to withdraw 50k...... asking if I would need an ID card for that? I said Yes.....and they entered their car and zoomed off. Am not saying they are fraudsters but my instincts tells me something is wrong somewhere. Am quite sure that they will easily get it done somewhere else.

There are some operational challenges about the business, it affects virtually everyone, the Customers and the Agents as well. I can tell you various ways which the customer can be scammed and I can also tell you various ways which the Agents can be scammed also. For the Agents, it would only happen if the Agent is not smart. It is sad to note that many Agents have lost so much money, some Agents are no longer in the business because of fraud while some have spent so much on Police cases. Some claimed the fraudsters are diabolical on them, using "juju" on them, I don't believe this, stupidity is just playing out on them. The truth is so many fraudsters come to the POS Agent every day with the intent to defraud them but Agents needs to be guided about their latest tricks because it seems they don't usually run out of new ideas to beat Agents to their game.

To some of you here who are fraudsters or celebrating them, it's high time the act is stopped. Fraud leaves the victims in a very bad state of health, some have committed suicide and some will not even balance till they die. But you are there celebrating, some are also ing them to celebrate, am imploring us to stop this act and find something else to do. Fine, the society caused all of these and no one is spared out because corruption and crimes have eaten deep into our homes. Virtually every family have a "yahooboy". Mothers are ing their sons doing "yahoo yahoo", the fathers are also not left out. The brothers are towing in the part of their siblings and the world is gradually getting worse.

If you want to go into the business of POS or you are into it and needs some clarifications, me. I am about to start my day.......do have a great day ahead.

So many applicants are finding it difficult to their N-Power PPA Letter, this trick that worked for me might be useful for you also..

First thing first, make sure you are using Chrome browser,
Change the view to desktop view,
After you might have input your details,
Tap on the button. (As usual an error message pops up)

Now here comes the trick,

Ignore the error message and keep tapping the button non stop.

As for me, I kept tapping the button for more than 5min non stop, still I saw a completed pop up on my notification..

So many people are trying to at the same time, causing the error message.

All you need is patience.
Keep tapping the button non stop.

This trick worked for me, might also work for you, that's why am sharing with you.
Give it a try.
Good one.... it worked like magic. I have been trying this for two days without any positive result but immediately I got the information, I achieved it in less than 1 min. Information is indeed power!

I run a POS business and these guys come to my shop in different form and orientation. But trust me, if you are using transfer, I will tell you (Oga, I must acknowledge the alert of your transaction before you can get the cash equivalent from me). As soon as the alert enters my inbox via sms, I will also take a step further to confirm it in my mail, mobile app, USSD and also use my POS machine to check my balance. Afterwards, I will use my POS to debit myself of the said amount. But I see no reason why anyone will give out cash or goods without acknowledging the alert of the transaction.
