gadgetplanetng: Sorry brother. What is the main issue with the device? How much are they quoting for board replacement? |

Currently doing a dry run. How far does my battery discharge overnight? Given that I have now disabled PHCN charging. Can my solar s recharge the batteries to float? If yes, in how many hours? I am planning to transition the majority of my load (except AC, microwave, iron) to my alternative power supply by July 31, 2023. 1 Like |

mctfopt: Me too. In February was expecting it would be under a 1000. In July shocked it is going to 3,000. Next plan of action is to arrange to buy a whole roll since I still plan to upgrade my system lest it would cost 5,000 then. |

Please how much is 10mm cable now? Abuja prices please. Lagos prices would be for comparison only. Bought 20 meters of 10mm in February 2023 at 1,900.00 per meter. Wondering the cost implications of an day would be as I need to install my newly acquired s. Thanks in advance. |

There is another reason why listing public prices makes sense. If are selling a mass product and you want to achieve economies of scale, how many phone calls can you answer in a minute? An hour? A day? A week? A month? A Year. How much does it cost to set up and scale the infrastructure for answering calls from potential customers? How much does it cost to set up the online infrastructure to address that issue? One of my Ikeja computer village based phone sellers upgraded. 1. He has a Google docs with all his items and his pricing (so he can spend his time on better things than answering how much does this phone or that phone cost)? 2. When you call, you are not wasting his time to find out how much. You are telling you you have paid and you want it shipped to so so and so location. There is something about how business is done in the West that we don't emphasize here, that to be truly successful, a business needs to scale and secondly, that your market is not just your country but the world. And save for extremely customized goods, as a general rule, prices are public. Some organizations even create a configurator. You can configure vehicles to your taste with all the options available from some vehicle manufacturers website and know without even interacting with someone, how much those customizations will cost. But having once done business as a reseller of software, I understand the thinking behind not putting prices publicly, I once did and a friend said not to, that my competitors will use it against me. So the vendor has to decide between competing interests, that seems to be the main reason why most Nigerian vendors do not list prices publicly. If your prices are public and your bank information is public, and you have a reputation, you can be waking up to alerts without doing any additional work (even answering calls) except the work you did one when you put up the information. It is the concept of doing it once, and extracting value as many times as possible. I think the 1-to-1 relationship of a call that results in a deal cannot be scaled as much as the 1- to-many relationship of setting up the online infrastructure to provide pricing to potential customers that keeps on paying. 9 Likes |

By not listing pricing vendors miss on impulse buying which is leaving a lot of money on the table. I respect the right of a vendor not to list his price by the way. I spent some good cash on Amazon Prime Day 2023 shopping because those publicly displayed prices. I am planning something similar for Black Friday 2023. I did some impulse shopping during Black Friday 2022. A lot of us buy in haste and repent at leisure, that is a market you do not want to ignore. Bought my first set of solar s from someone who posted public pricing here. I have privately ed the lithium battery seller to inquire about his pricing though 9 Likes |

Had an informal chat with a distributor. Prices of solar s will soon be revised upwards. If you have been delaying the purchase, hasten your steps. |

coldcandy: Disclaimer: I don't use Growatt. But even if I turn off my inverter, it will power devices if it is connected to AC charging. Since I am not using the inbuilt solar charge controller, I cannot speak for that one. One thing I do know is that if AEDC seizes power when the inverter is switched off then every connected device will also power down, but if power is restored, even if the inverter is switched off, the devices will have power restored. 2 Likes |

sonnie10: Thanks for sharing. I have nothing against curtain rods, I just want them out of sight. So I don't mind using curtain rods, but I don't want them visible. I also plan to automate the opening and closing of curtains. Watched a few videos on that. It is way cheaper to use curtain rods and hide them than buy those curtain track systems. |

I want to do what is called recessed curtains. I don't want to see any curtain rods above my windows. I also want my curtains to start from the recess in my ceiling to floor. I have a feeling that they look stately. Has anyone done something similar here? What considerations should I bear in mind as I embark on such a project?

jonescosmos: Clear case why I school myself in the technicalities of whatever I am get into. This is a case study for why the end should not allow himself to be bamboozled(hoodwinked) by the buzz words of the trade but understand technology at least good enough to know how things should work and be put together even if one has no intention of being the one actually putting it together. Without such an understanding even his supplier could not help him. This also explains why some of us go for known brand names. It also shows that Deye is a good brand. It also raises the issue of the grey market and what it can do to you. My friend here had to spend twice to achieve his goal. That was funds he could have earmarked for another project being redirected here to solve a problem he assumed he had already solved. Nothing beats knowing what you want, being an informed client and going all out for it. Well done brother. It was a nice read 1 Like |

Please who has bought polystyrene ceiling boards recently? What is the going rate? Just want to be sure if the rate I am being offered is reasonable. In other news to contribute to the conversation on the price of cement, I was told the price is now 4,700.00 in Abuja today |

EduTechTainMent: I studied the product literature meticulously. I want to try the Homaya Pro series of inverters that I posted about a while back. Please check my previous posts. They have a 3kW variety, they have a 4kW and a 6kW model. They can be stacked together up to 24kW. I want to go for either 4kW and 6kW paralleled or 6kW and 6kW paralleled for a start. 1 Like |

TechGeek777: There are 2 parts to the renewable journey: 1. renewable energy generation (and storage) 2. the use of energy efficient devices 1 is as important as 2. Infact 2 may even be more important than 1. In an effort to make the best use of 1, I have also had to invest in 2. That has meant for example buying energy efficient appliances. Like for me personally it meant getting a fridge with an energy class rating A++. What does energy class rating A++ mean? The energy class rating A++ is a classification used to indicate the energy efficiency of appliances, particularly in the European Union. The energy class rating system provides consumers with information about how energy-efficient a particular appliance is. In the case of A++, it represents a very high level of energy efficiency. The rating scale typically ranges from A+++ (highest efficiency) to D (lowest efficiency). The higher the rating, the more energy-efficient the appliance is, meaning it consumes less energy to perform its intended function. Appliances with an A++ energy class rating are designed to minimize energy consumption and reduce environmental impact. They are more efficient in converting energy into useful output, resulting in lower electricity bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. It's important to note that energy class ratings can vary depending on the type of appliance. Therefore, it's always advisable to refer to the specific energy label or documentation provided by the manufacturer to understand the exact energy efficiency of a particular appliance. In my case, imagine running a fridge that is as tall as a 6ft individual but uses less energy that fridges much smaller. That is an example of where I have had to allocate the funds instead of just buying solar s, batteries and charge controllers to power inefficient devices. Next major investment will be to get similarly rated ACs. Looking at December 2023 for that one all things being equal.

Justice629: My inverter has only beeped low battery less than 10 times since installation, and it was because I was dependent on AEDC charging and there was an extended no-utility power situation a couple of times. Since I installed solar it has not even happened. I have never gotten below 24.81%. I realize that by adding additional loads (whole house lighting as opposed to just the seating room and electronics) as I transition from AEDC to near complete autonomy (AC and iron are not yet included in the current autonomy plan) my batteries could be discharged to between 24.36% and 24.50% overnight so I want to ensure that before noon the next day my batteries should float. I am also doing this to take care of days with low sun harvest due to the rainy season. I also want to take care of my refrigeration loads during the day without depleting my batteries which I am currently unable to do. When I decided to set up a miserly 1.5kva inverter system, I could very well have afforded my then intended 8kw system, but I felt that other investments were more important. For example, I bought a car that was so cosmetically spotless that I cannot how many times other drivers at petrol stations complemented it and even offered to buy it from me. Today I wanted to get a 3kva inverter system and I could very well afford the brand of my choice, but it does not lithium batteries and does not 48v. Since I want to 48v and want to do lithium, I decided the alternative upgrade route, more solar s, more charger controllers, increased generation capacity but no increase in storage capacity. The way things are going I can very well do the 48v and lithium battery by the end of the month, because I am just one step away from the expected funds for the major upgrade, but I am not willing to go back to the days when I was spending nearly 50,000.00 Naira on electricity units and the only way to prevent that with the threatened increase in electricity tariffs is what I have done. The next upgrade will be brutal. I will max out solar s, I will deploy redundant solar charge controllers, I will not just increase generation capacity, but I will also increase storage capacity, and even protective devices. It is the major upgrade that will guarantee complete autonomy to include heavy power hugs like ACs, cookers, electric ovens, washing machines, and what have you. Then I would have upgraded my system to my preferred size at my leisure/pleasure but by doing this now I would have plugged a potential financial drain hole in the meantime. Life is not just about what we want, it is also about planning the finances around all responsibilities and obligations, and for maximum return on investment so one don't have to look like a fool as an adult. In any case by delaying the plan to go big, I have gathered a ton of wisdom thanks to this thread that ensures that my money will not just be spent, but it will be spent very well, and that I will not live to regret the capital outlay. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Following in the footsteps of my brother who did some serious overling. I am increasing the capacity of my s to 2500 watts and installing a second MPPT solar charge controller for the additional s I would be purchasing. This is the idea or the thinking: As a general rule of thumb, you will need solar s with a capacity of at least 600 watts to fully charge two 12v 200Ah batteries connected in series in 5 hours of sunlight. This is assuming that you are using efficient solar s with a charging rate of 15%. If you want to charge the batteries faster, you will need more solar s. For example, if you want to charge the batteries in 3 hours, you will need solar s with a capacity of at least 1200 watts. Two 12v 200ah batteries connected in series have a total capacity of 4800 watt-hours (Wh). If you have 2500 watts of solar s, the batteries will charge in about 2 hours. Here is the calculation: Total capacity of batteries = 4800 Wh Power of solar s = 2500 watts Charging time = Total capacity / Power of solar s = 4800 Wh / 2500 watts = 1.92 hours = 2 hours However, it is important to note that this is just a theoretical calculation. The actual charging time may be longer or shorter depending on the amount of sunlight you receive, the efficiency of your solar s, and the charging rate you use. For example, if you receive 5 hours of sunlight per day with an efficiency of 15%, the batteries will charge in about 2 hours. However, if you only receive 3 hours of sunlight per day, the batteries will charge in about 4 hours. This is a minor my existing system of just solar s and a new charge controller, no new batteries still using my AGM batteries. (545watts Jinko x 3) The major planned upgrade is to increase my PV size to 10 kilowatts and my batteries to lithium of at least 10 kilowatts as well. Once I complete this project. I will now convert AEDC into a backup plan. In another post, I will share how the rise in my electricity bills led me to go solar. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

shortgun: National Security is all about law enforcement not always necessarily a military matter. In the United States lawyers have also been known to hold that office. Ribadu has a legal background and a law enforcement background. Nigeria's long years of military rule has made everything to be militarized. You do not need to be an ex-soldier to be a successful NSA. In the Nigerian experience do not ex-military men also have political ambitions? Yes, military experience can be a valuable asset in this role, but it is not the only experience needed to make a success of the role! In the United States there have been several National Security Advisors who have had some experience with law enforcement. For example, Robert C. O'Brien, who served as National Security Advisor from 2019 to 2021, was a lawyer who specialized in national security law. He also served as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of Florida, where he prosecuted cases involving drug trafficking, money laundering, and terrorism. Another example is Stephen Hadley, who served as National Security Advisor from 2005 to 2009. Hadley was a lawyer who specialized in national security law. He also served as the legal advisor to the National Security Council during the George H. W. Bush istration. These are just two examples of National Security Advisors who have had some experience with law enforcement. However, it is important to note that neither of these individuals had a career in law enforcement. They were lawyers who specialized in national security law, and they had some experience working with law enforcement agencies. Ribadu has both a career in law enforcement and understands how to use the law to achieve national security objectives. In Nigeria, the military approach to things has resulted several times in ignoring the law and using brute force, and as we have seen it does not always work. Wish him the best and let us try something different this time around! Modified: See images attached. Which of the qualities highlighted in the two pictures attached does Ribadu not have but that your preferred retired army generals have? 1 Like 1 Share |

If you are outside Lagos and want to buy solar s, please that an authorized reseller in your location does not have it in stock before ordering outside of your station and paying for logistics. I did not do this the first time I bought my Jinko solar s and 1. I suffered some delays and 2. I spent a tidy sum on logistics You might discover that you could buy it at the same price in your station as it is sold in Lagos but you would have saved yourself the cost of logistics. I just did as I intend to increase the number of s I have installed in response to proposed electricity tarriff hike and found out it I could buy at Lagos prices in Abuja and not have to pay for transportation and wait for them to be delivered. And you know anything can happen along the way and you would be faced with dealing with that. Of course if the price is a steal even after ing for logistics and the product is legit then by all means you can buy from Lagos 2 Likes |
