Builders/Architects/Engineers,

I need your expert advise.

So I have got 10M naira I want to invest in my first building project (Land inclusive)

I know it is not feasible in Lagos, so looking at Ondo/Ogun state; Is this feasible within my budget?

I am even willing to pay for a comprehensive project plan from an experienced builder.

It will be nice to have a detailed breakdown of how to achieve this before I proceed

Thanks in advance.

Yes. You’ll get a habitable shelter.

But you have to be completely involved and it has to be a prudent structure.

Hiring a builder, not a bricklayer, will most likely cause this to fail.

Take a look at my linked thread and good luck on your project.

PS: please don’t be dissuaded by people that don’t own a 6” block in their name.

Hello, guys
I don't want to bore you guys with long epistle. Yes, as the title suggests.

I travelled to Canada through the study route this January but I can tell you for a fact that I'm already bored with this place.

I'm redoing a 2 year program that I have already concluded in Naija but just because I want japa, I redid it. But that's not the issue.

The issue is that I'm working in a company but the department I was posted to was a physical demanding one..

To the extent that if I work for a day, I feel pain all over my body for a week. And this is seriously affecting my education because anytime i go to work, i wouldn't have the energy to do anything again as i would be so weak. but i have to work because i have bills to pay.

Nobody send you for here except you want sleep for cold outside.

Even half of my salary goes in the form of settling bills.

The work makes me depressed. This is not what I bargained for. .

For me to raise money for my tuition fees and travel expenses, at least I wasn't doing bad in Nigeria before i left. In addition, I hardly have time for myself.

My situation is even better, most of people who we came same time haven't found jobs yet.

My thinking is if I should ask for refund of my remaining tuition fee and relocate back Naija, or go back Naija and take some courses online, as there seems to be an option for that.

You’re doing good if only 50% of your earnings goes TK bills. You’re still new, you’ll get used to Canada though I don’t understand why anyone would choose Canada to go to personally. I don’t get that part.

I say stick it out. Use your current job as a stepping stone. Good luck.

This debate about giving artisans travelling from one state to another transport fare has been going on for long.

It's obvious everyone is adamant on their positions.

My view is: If you want someone to come from Lagos to your site in Port harcourt for just a quote without paying his transport fees, that's fine. So far as the person agrees and your conscience let's you sleep at night.

There is no hard and fast rule. Each to his own.

Even if the artisan is coming from Ibadan I’ll still give a token. Even if the artisan never came to site but consulted over the phone.

The reason I do it is for my own conscience in case I do not give that artisan the job.

I had a. Architect that came to one of my sites in Omi Adio. He worked for my builder to do Layout and pegging. He asked to see my building plan. A few days later he sent me an updated plan that was better. Eventhough I didn’t ask him to do the job I knew it’ll have taken his time so I asked for his number.

1) Ten quotes? That’s too much. 3 is enough.

2) I’ll never ask anyone to come give a quote if they weren’t potential contractors.

3) My background just dictates that I reward artisans.

4) I’ll never ask anyone to do long travel and I’ll rather they stop by if they’re in town.

Ire o.

That'll be inhumane. Any person should be able to source the best healthcare available.

AT mot all we can do is ensure that the government is not funding it.

Na wa ooo......you chased me down to naija the same year ni? grin grin.

I hope you're enjoying your stay as I am too.

I was but a slowpoke ran into me last year while I was parked on the side of Lagos/Ibadan expressway last year. I’m recovering from my injuries currently. I should already be back in the USA but the aholes at the embassy denied my wife a tourist visa.

I'm sure you still how I was planning to relocate back to naija after 27 years in America. My so- called cousin scammed me to ship 3 of my cars to naija. I just stopped talking to him. I'm not surprised tho....I knew dealing with naija can never end with a smile.

BTW....are you still in naija?

Some of them are pretty bad.

Yeah I’m still in Nigeria, since 2019.

I’m not proud of what I’m going to say but in my 33 years in the USA I made a total of 5 Nigerian friends.

We’re just generally bad people.

Hope you get your money back. Not sure if they have small claims court where you are.
