All midfielders have the ability to play DM!
It's just a matter of their level of adaptability!
Towards the last years of Gerard @LFC,he played the DM role despite being an AM and later a CM!
Like I had said in my previous comment,Graven was desperate to start playing regularly and knew the only way to do so was anywhere including DM!
From what I have seen so far,graven can play anywhere in the midfield and do it will so much aplomb!
That's how good of a player he is!

lol at all midfielders.. I mean technically they should but like you said it depends on the adaptability.. yes .. But the moment I read all midfielders, my thoughts went to Curtis Jones .. Imagine a Curtis Jones at the DM position 😁 .. That team is fvcked ..

Graven never played DM at Ajax!
His positions were CM and AM!
He excelled more in those positions because of his quick accelerations and dribbling skills!
The reason why he never did well @ Bayern was due to crowded midfield and a trying too hard to perform!
Once he dropped to the bench,his form dipped and his self confidence left!
Klopp offered him an opportunity to rediscover his mojo at Liverpool!
Despite not getting to the levels he wanted,klopp encouraged him not to give up as this was his opportunity to prove he was ready!
When klopp left and Slot showed, Gravenbach decided no matter where or what position the new manager played him,he will give his best!
The rest is history!
Despite excelled in that position,we need a natural DM like Fabinho whose sole job is to break up play!

He does drop to 6 position to receive the ball, you would see in that in most highlights of when he was at ajax ..
He played in both positions at ajax, I just did some research about that..
But yes, you're right.. we do need that natural holding defender but I'd gravy to develop in that position and become good ... What's to say if moving him centerly could alter his game and have him sit on the bench again ... I wouldnt like that...

I still believe Gravenbach is playing out of position!
Lastly,we may need a striker,winger,DM and defender

.. gravenberch looks so comfortable in that position.. are you sure we need a DM or a very creative AM that can function as a CM ..

Didn't gravenberch flopped because he was played up front at Munich . I watch some gravenberch highlights especially when he was still at ajax, he played at dm and was extremely comfortable .. I'd say get a backup DM , a new CM/Am, a rw , a good cf and other notable positions we need back ups or fresh legs and we're good to go ..

That the speed will still be there ad infinitum?
The contract extension of Salah and VVD is for both experience and to enable the sporting director get a younger winger and defender that will be an understudy!
I don't see Salah starting up to 60-70% of games next season!
Besides,there was nothing to play for against Chelsea as the EPL has already been won!
I was thinking that a Chiesa would start ahead of Salah!

I legit thought slot would start chiesa for the rest of the matches not until I saw Salah in the line up... II was like you wan kill the old man, let chiesa get some gaddemm minutes ..

Whatever reason slot won't play chiesa is one hell of mystery .. I just hope he is not favoritism, cause that would be the start of downfall .. He then sees Salah makes no impact in games and yet still leaves him on .. If he continues like that, #slotout would soon be his reality ..

It was an experiment but we all know they haven't played together unlike the preferred midfield trio of McAllister, Gravenbach and Dominik!
Endo had a good game!
Elliot still needs more game time as it was obvious he had sat on the bench for a long time!
Jones really needs to step up as he has been given more than enough time to prove his worth!
His inconsistency is too obvious!

slot is more likely to let Elliott leave and keep jones ..

As much as Jones goofs , he just won't stop using him ...

I wonder what he sees in him that he doesn't see in Elliott..

We still gotta allow one or two from that midfield go and get new ones that'd adapt faster to slots tactics..
