Another man's food is another man's poison! Just because you prefer the song ole it does not mean that this song (for instance) sucks, Its simply a thing of taste and choice.
This has nothing to do with fooling him ( why, should I what am I gaining ). I am commending him for making me dance and enjoy good lyrics and beats grin. You dont have to like his track or agree with me. anyway, it seemds that I am not the only one that thinks that the track is good so tongue I rest my case ( for now)

Congratulations Orinikila, I am happy for you. You deserve it . I pray that you soon become number one popular author. I know you will get there and so many other places. I love your style of writing! I have read a few stories from you and was amazed! Keep it up! wink

katherinae:

guys have u heard geneviev and omotola's voices, yes our so called producers carried them and made movies because they are boht cute nad famous, if they tried to go into dance moveies we will have people like ramsey and osuofia doing the dutty wine in another yet daft and hopeless movie, biko, one can only take so much embarassement. so no lets leave hte dancing to the americans

How many actors and actresses are in the Nigerian industry. Likewise many dancers in the music industry that are good in what they do . In many Hollywood dance movies they mostly take people that are not known stars that are already dancers. Katherinae, you make a point if producers or people can label dance movies as the wacky film Dancing Heart we have a bigger problem than expected in nollywood but if they set a higher standard with real dancers and good choregraphy things might work it will be more costly and will take more time but eventually it will become a success!

I agree with you of they don't have a good plan, actors, storyline and choreagraphy for the dancing movie let them (producers) keep us from the shame and mediocrity.

@ mcmsat

I feel your pain cos I feel it as well concerning the condition of the country and our people in it . I love Nigeria and I am proud to be a Nigerian. However, around me and even in Nigeria people are not proud to be so, They have good reasons for disliking the country we can not ignore the ills, corrupted and unlawfullness of the country. The big gap between rich and poor to name a few of the ills. Nigeria is a developing country and we Nigerians living abroad and in the country are the ones that can make a difference . It will take us a long it might not even be in our grandchildrens time. We can contribute good things or bad things to the country its up to us to make the difference.

I love the song. The first time I heard the song was from Akon's CD on the last track, I got ballistic. The track is dope and the beat is moving . His rhymes are flowing and it makes absolute sense for those that appreciate the art of poetry as well as the rhythm of good beats all compiled together. cheesy

He preformed well and is going many places many are dreaming of! A message to Tuface keep on rocking don't mind the haters cos they will always be there to criticize! Just do your thing for the deep music/rhymes/beats lovers! tongue

whitelexi:

I wont even come to the defence of any imo person but i'll speak for myself, Imo people especially those from country5 like me, are always attacked for any act of ingenuity, We are geniuses and cannot help it. When u visit country5 u will agree totally with me, if not for the fact that we have a lousy governor, that state should have progressed well beyond expectations.

Meanwhile, on the issue of marriage, I think whoever says they wont marry an Imo man or woman because of their nature or xter, is not in love, period. Because we all know that all these flimsy excuses are just a way to get out of the situation of marriage.
Your friend wont marry an imo man because of Divorce but she'll marry an oyinbo man because they don't divorce?
I think she has more than enough reason not to want to marry an imo man or a black man but divorce should be far from it because oyibo land is cool where it originated

Whitelexi you have said it all. Let me add some points of my own. Igbos that make issues about this are really backwards. Anyway, as for me these reasons stated by some of you are used to lift your states up not because it is a common thing. One can also say he or she will not marry with an anambra person because of rituals/sacrifice of their wives or husbands even children to gain money. We all know the love that anambra people have for money is higher than anything in this life. Does that mean that every anambra person is involved in money rituals. The problem with Igbos is generalization,  is a pity,  that is why Igbo land is so deterioriated because of these backwards way of conducting life cry That is why there is no unity among us and maybe never will!

Seun:

Maybe our dances are boring? No, it may be because choreographers are yet to discover the movie industry.

Do you know how many variety of dances are in Nigeria? Diversities of styles of dances and culture. They are definitely not boring,  there is so many we can do ,  if you look at Zule Zoo they have such a good choreography and they are very acrobatic and combine different African styles in their acts. Then look at P-Square in some of their acts oh come on, there is so much we can do in that field combining dance with movies

I think that Nigerian movie producers should look at other storylines than the common present ones. A dance movie might be a start of something new however they should do it in the context of Nigeria and not America or India.  As for dancing heart is not  a dancing movie simply because their was some scenes of dance in it ! Moreover, the choreography of the dances sucked were so bad! That movie can not be classifiied as a dance movie, oh please lipsrsealed

sam-carlos:

Well i think it's not Nigeria in question but Africa

@Sam-Carlos
You are right that it is not Nigeria in particularly but Africa.
I will go a step broader it is the black man in general who does not read.
chichimma(f): 3:50pm On Oct 12, 2006
In my opinion, as many said already , Nigerians do not read, simply for several reasons mentioned by many posters such as Orinikla ( by the way, preach on the truth hurts) about this topic.

I was reading just for the sake of school and studies which is the basic of reading (I guess) but I did not enjoy it.  I started reading at the age of twenty not because it was compulsory for studies and exams or for information.  I had to apply for a particular course with a break of one year.  I felt there was something missing in my life. The joy of reading.  While I was preparing for the entrance exam  of the four-year-course.  A friend of mine recommended me a book by Sidney Sheldon.
She was addicted to his books.  She told me if I read one or two pages I will continue until the end.  She was so right. I finished the book in two days (300 something pages)

I became addicted and started  looking for Sidney Sheldon books everywhere.  In less then six months time, I read almost all of his books converted to other styles of books  from biography to romance and more.

My point  here is that it is never too late to read, educate, enlighten, relax and lift yourselfup .   Simply reading for recognition or been seen is not good enough for yourself there is always something  that will be missing.   Reading is good for the soul as well as your capabilities to visualize  and put things in words and to broaden your perspectives.  I am reading now a novel  "The Godfather" from Mario Puzo a real maffia story. I read all kinds of books. To me reading is better than movies because you can use your imagination,  the movies I watched that were from a book,  I did not like it because my imagination of the characters simply did not match or other missing essential factors of the book. Just reading  can 't be compared with reading because you love to, there is a clear difference!  When I read because it was compulsory to or just to obtain information I felt lik I was not reading, infact, I was not reading. I thank God I am now!

I love the rhymes of many of you not going to call names. Many of you really have talent!
somegirl:

TO EACH LEADER
(reim dich oder ich fress dich! grin)

AND TO YOU

indeed!
we will bleed,
if greed
does lead.

with speed,
its seed
will succeed
if we cede.

don’t heed
its plead;
there’s no need
for this weed.

we’d
be freed
if we did impede
its misdeed.

I really like this one and some that Teno wrote, Keep it up, shocked, still called names lipsrsealed Anyway, to all you rhymers keep it up there is a lot of talent in you just practice and you become perfect, as for me, I am not a rhymer just love poetry wink Peace

The preview is not exciting but dull. Is quite obvious what it is about love and cheating. The actors and actresses are handsome and beautiful but the acting is not convincing. I must say that the quality of colour and screen is of standards but is definitely not a love story I would watch,

Like they say another men's food is another's poison!

I have noticed it as well. Whenever, I am home many Nigerians want to show off or distinguish themselves from those that are living at home. This comes forth also because most people back home see them automatically as money bags and as some of you said kiss their asses well well! It is very annoying but then again most of the peeps you see are been discriminated, insulted and treated as nothing abroad so they can spend a short time feeling big or special at home.

I would not say it is the best thing to do but at the same time I can understand where it is coming from. That kind of attitude will not work for me because it is not my style If I see people behaving too big simply because they are living abroad (most of the time depressed over there) I do not give them my time! wink

Funny statement, I don't agree with it at all! I do not consider myself that tall (1.77m) but I noticed that usually shorter men approach me.
Icejay:

This statement is not absolutely true.I know a lot of guys who prefer tall girls to short girls. But what's the craze about height anyway;I think what's most important is the individual.

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder! wink The discussion forum is not about if Ini is sexier or hotter than Gene but the fact is that Ini was on the spotlight on CNN "Inside Africa" representing Nollywood and Gene not. To my opinion she did well in her appearance on CNN. I was proud and happy to watch the report not only for Ini but the entire Nollywood industry. Do you know how many countries have access to CNN the media exposure was/is good for Nollywood. All the other things surrounding the report are not relevant. Nollywood is just like a baby and is growing, I see this as a stepping stone and more will follow.

As for the criticizing peeps, as Orikinla and others said if you do not find appearing on CNN representing a movie industry a big deal then first examine your head and then try to be on the spotlight yourself for 15 minutes on CNN representing an industry. Then I will agree with you that it is not a big deal.
ThisDumebi:

This is a land where we make the most of nothing.
I can't put my finger on what the fuss is all about.
There is no fuss but just recognition !!!!!! It is definitely something to discuss and if you don't agree, to my knowledge there are many topics you might be able to put your finger on! wink

I prefer the name WAZOBIA its great it says so much more then Nollywood or Naijawood.
Well, lets hope that people in the movie industry will consider the name, especially that the revolution has started.
chichimma(f): 1:11am On Apr 25, 2006
The thread of this forum is about the largest movie industry, I was revering to Nollywood as the 3rd Largest and not the 3rd best!!!!!!!!! As for the name Nollywood, it can still change when things improve with the movie industry. I think the revolution of Nollywood its emerging "30days" is a evidence of it. Who knows maybe then a new name will come up! I do not have a problem with the name rather more with the quality and the standards, I kind of got use to it but for the people who do like you Grafikdon, I say start brainstorming of new names for the industry wink

Idekeson:

It really freaks me out each time I see that name "Nollywood"
And it's currently more of a video industry. We still have a long way to go to achieve a film industry status. In Europe and the US these videos are only popular among Africans and mostly available in African markets.

Nollywood is the 3rd as in distribution spread and productions in the world. As for the name it looks like it is here to stay if they will change it eventually its up to industry. I do not think its such a big deal that they want to relate the industry to others. Further the name its easy to and to connect with Nigeria. They could have called it Naija would some of you would be talking more positively about the industry then? I do not think sooo. Instead of constantly lamenting about the name someone can come up with something more fitting for the industry.

Eventually Nollywood will go to another more professional level and meet the standards of  Hollywood, Bollywood and others its only a matter of time, , financial and technical resources.

Idekeson, which part of Europe are you  talking about because where I stay its even more popular among the South- Americans than the Africans.
chichimma(f): 1:34am On Apr 23, 2006
None of the Hollywood movies mentioned is the best to me. Besides, no Naija movie on the list so make I add one----

"Behind Closed Doors" wink

Waaaauw, what a debate.

I am a new member at this forum site and I am extremely interested in the Nollywood industry, especially because its quite jung ( less then 15 yrs)  and what directors, producers, actors and actressess have accomplished with limited or lack of resources, each time they make a new movie in such a short time span its incredible.

I must confess that sometimes these stories look alike or are too predictable, nevertheless, the industry is trying alot and has become more familiar in many parts of African countries, parts of  Europe and even US. Nollywood has a long way to go to be fully recognized but at the same time they are getting there faster than critics will think.
I do not think that Hollywood could have achieved so much with limited resources in less than 15 years.

Or can some one else prove otherwise
