So this is the main reason Gowon went to visit Tinubu the other day.

Gowon is not getting it. Those countries' military junta must restore democracy to their country before their suspension from ECOWAS and all the sanctions levelled against them by ECOWAS can be lifted.

Military coup must be discouraged by all reasonable means. So I am with ECOWAS on this. ECOWAS has no justification for its continued existence if it cannot ensure there is consequence for military coup.

I'm sure the guy assaulted her first and there are women out there that you shouldn't dare raise your hands against because you'll end up being hurt. Abeg leave the girl alone, the man didn't sha die.

You may be right. That's why a sensible man with a healthy self esteem takes his time to study the nature and character of a woman he is in a relationship with; he knows the level of madness his woman is capable of and he is ever vigilant and ready, not only to march her level of madness but also go beyond it.

No self-respecting man with healthy self esteem can ever allow a disagreement with his woman to degenerate to a point of physical violence without him being the one dominating the situation even if it means killing her before she could kill him

It implied that Noah was an albino, which made lamech confused as he looked like the sons of fallen angels

The bolded could be true. Some 'humans' you see on earth are actually children of some fallen angels, demons and the gods; that's why you will notice there is something extraordinary or abnormal about them

In essence, Lagos State has the capacity to become the poorest state in Nigeria while pretending to be rich. I guess that's what the governor is trying to say
bitbillionaire: 8:53pm On Feb 22, 2024
You have a point there

Dobodobo04:

I prefer state police In conjunction with private security.

State police will improve security in Nigeria overnight.

I’m glad our lawmakers are working on the modularities on how it should function, and hopefully, they come up with robust guidelines, so it’s not abused by state govs against political opponents.

Security companies are actually regulated in Nigeria; only that for now, they are not allowed to use firearm. They are under Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Any security company in Nigeria not ed with NSCDC is operating illegally.

Yeah, instead of, or while waiting for state police, the federal government could grant ed security companies permission to train their guards on how to use firearms and they should be allowed to bear arms for a robust security of lives and properties. That is a good alternative to state police.

Dobodobo04:
Currently, we have very few police officers and I think some of them should be used to provide security for farmers in highly affected areas.

However, government should allow farmers high private security if they wish to, and incentivise it.

Also, by now, FG should standardise private security and regulate it, so private industries are issued licences to execute security functions. Police and soldiers that are not well paid enough can switch to private security instead of venturing into crime.

These private security outfits can then be employed by farmers, companies, etc to protect lives and infrastructures.

The problem here is that crude oil export alone can't sustain the economy as big as Nigeria.

Ndume seems to forget that government earnings and spending alone can't do much to stimulate the economy. The entrepreneurs in the country equally play big roles in stimulating and growing the economy but unfortunately, they are the ones who are adversely affected by the falling value of the Naira.

So the issue here is not about the dollars federal government is earning.through crude oil; but the purchasing power of the masses that is being eroded and the high cost of living occasioned by the devaluation of Naira.

The plan to relocate predates this government. The area was a residential area. Fela once lived there. His shrine was then a problem in the neighbourhood. All they've been trying to do is to revert to the masterplan. Katangua had been earmarked for a computer village but it seems the will to develop it wasn't there.

Okay. I wish Lagos State government happy spending.

Let's hope they will build affordable houses there anyway.
bitbillionaire: 8:52pm On Feb 21, 2024
So they just wake up to discover it is a residential area after all this years!

Imagine the cost of demolishing all the buildings and structures in that computer village and building residential apartments there from scratch. Is that not madness?

Ali Ndume is right. Those senators who served during Buhari's tenure should be ashame of themselves for allowing Buhari to collect loans indiscriminately.

Nigeria being the most populous black nation on earth seems too big to be policed by the Federal Government alone; hence, state police seems necessary. While state police will definitely help in some situation but its potential dangers (especially if they are going to carry gun) are scary!

If they would carry guns they must be supervised by either Federal Police or Civil Defence.

NAFDAC could be sued for negligence. If we had a responsible government all the lab scientists in NAFDAC and other NAFDAC officials who handled the registration of this product should have been fired for this. It shows they are useless. Collecting fat salaries for nothing.

Same NAFDAC approved it, they didn't know it contained large amounts of sildenafil until the Germans said so.

The House of Reps have no power to order a separate arm of government. The legislature mandatory powers are exercised thorough law not resolution. Resolutions are advisory and not binding.

You have a point but their concern and the issues raised are valid and must be addressed. We need a country where things are done according to the intention of the law and the constitution; otherwise, we might as well go our separate ways

But all major contenders during 2023 presidential election said they will remove fuel subsidy immediately they are sworn in.

They didn't use the word 'immediately'. Its true some of them promised to do away with subsidy but there is no guarantee they would actually go ahead with it and even if they do, I don't think they would have recklessly removed it with such urgency as Tinubu did without making sure there is enough palliative on ground to ease the impact of the subsidy removal.
bitbillionaire: 5:34pm On Feb 12, 2024
You try small. Let me score you 40% for your effort.

The thing is there is no perfect government anywhere on earth. There is no perfect politician anywhere. No politician anywhere is 100% clean and Peter Obi can't be an exception.

Nevertheless, I am still convinced that he remained the best and the cleanest among the politicians that contested during the last presidential election.

The two websites below give some information about his legacies and achievements in Anambra State education sector while he was the governor:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2018/08/education-obis-model-pays-off/amp/

https://selonnes.com/2018/02/01/anambra-state-education-rebirth-the-peter-obi-model/

As for his other achievements generally as a governor check out the link below:

https://www.legit.ng/nigeria/1498135-18-major-achievements-peter-obi-melt-hearts/

I am still convinced Peter Obi has the right kind of personality and principles Nigeria of today desperately needs from a president. He has what it takes to lay the right kind of foundation for Nigeria's development for future leaders to build on. There is a reason he is ionately loved by so many people.

Ballmer:
Below Is the answer with verifiable links to all your questions on the failure Peter Obi represent, I know it won't change you opinion due to tribal sentiment but it also will not change the fact Peter Obi is a failure. A ruse promoted base only on tribal n religious sentiment depending on who you talk to.

Peter Obi as no verifiable history of performance in governance this in addition to carefree looting of stats resource such as looted fund into his daughter Pandora .

Igbos justifies this claiming he own the before becoming governor if you are interested I have info the was not opened in his first term as governor but second term which is most when Nigeria govern loot ceaselessly n this after Marvel Akpoyibo commissioner of police Lagos state discovered his method of looting ₦250 million monthly from Anambra secretariat to his warehouse at Orile in Lagos.

Investing state fund into private business with no return like brewery, the 4 billion into Orient Petroleum Refinery which is yet to refine a single little of fuel till date etc. The list is endless.

did he not chase Igbos from other state away from Anambra civil service ?

Even though you don't have evidence to proof this but the truth is every nation and every state is after its self-interest. No responsible governor anywhere allows its state's civil service to be over-run by indigenes of other states at the expense of his own people.

Ballmer:
Did poverty rating in Anambra not increased under Obi ?

Do you mind telling us with verifiable evidence what poverty rate was before Obi became governor and what it was after he left the office?

Ballmer:
Did he not increase tuition by over 300% ?

Can you tell us with verifiable evidence how much tuition fee was before Obi became the governor and how much it was after he left office.

Can you also tell us with verifiable evidence and authentic link to the source of the information, the state of education of Anambra State before Obi became the governor and after his tenure?

Ballmer:
Was he not caught looting ₦250 million monthly directly from Anambra secretariat to his warehouse at Orile in Lagos by Marvel Akpoyibo ?

Can you show us a video evidence to you claim that Obi looted the above amount monthly?

Can you also tell us why EFCC and subsequent governors of Anambra state never bothered to probe and prosecute him?

Ballmer:
Was kidnapping n armed robbery not rampant under Obi as governor ?

Can you tell us with verifiable evidence and link to the source of the information what kidnapping and robbery rate in Anambra was before Obi became the governor and what it was after he left office?

Your answers to the above questions will help us make informed decision in the future. Thanks.

Mind you, I need answers with verifiable evidence and a link to the authentic source of the information you are giving.

“It’s injustice for anyone to blame the Tinubu istration for the current economic hardship because there is no other alternative than the removal of the fuel subsidy. After all, Nigeria cannot even afford to pay the subsidy.

_Mohammed Sanusi(Former Cbn Gov)

Idiotic reasoning there from whoever made the above comment.

'The current economic hardship' Nigerians are facing are a direct result of Tinubu's policies! Hurriedly removing fuel subsidy without providing any palliative and recklessly floating the Naira knowing fully well that Nigeria is an import dependent nation that will always need to sell the Naira in order to buy dollars and other foreign currencies in order to import over 90% of what it consumes. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that these two actions of Tinubu are capable of plunging the Naira and the economy into the abyss that we are seeing now!

On the claim that Nigeria cannot afford to pay subsidy, I don't think that is true. Subsidy itself was never the problem. The real problem with subsidy was the mind-boggling corruption behind it plus the fact that every government in power seems to lack political will to tackle the corruption because of fear of stepping on some powerful toes.

In the present state of the country's economy, uprooting corruption in the subsidy system and making sure all those involved in the corrupt activities are prosecuted and jailed would have been in the overall interest of Nigerians rather than removing the subsidy completely.
