The colonial masters realised they were more of Northerners than Southerners and carved them into Northern Nigeria
Such ignorance coming from you is surprising, to say the least. You need to see this thread

Benue was formerly part of Eastern Nigeria

It was Azikiwe that messed up big time and Royally in 1956 because of his Greed for Control of the West

The British took away Kwara and Kogi in the West and added it to the North who were coperating with them more

Instead of Azikwe to Unite with Awolowo who Pleaded and pleaded and pleaded with Zik to do so to successfully

oppose the British from removing Taraba and Benue from Eastern Nigeria

and Kwara with kogi from the West

Not only did Zik refuse to coperate and unite with Awolowo so he could hold to Benue and Taraba

but he was at the same time ing the British to remove Kwara and Kogi from the West

The Political Blindness displayed by Zik in the matter was stunning and astonishing

the fact that Azikiwe was about to loose Taraba and Benue Was irrelevant to his Calculations

Azikiwe was more interested in fighting Awolowo for Power and for Premier of the West

meanwhile the Premier of the East would be an Easterner

That was how the British Colonial masters added Benue and Taraba to Northern Nigeria

Zik did not even batter an eyelid

but because the Westerners and Awolowo continued fighting the Colonial masters over it

Otun Ekiti area which was a very important Historical Yoruba Town was returned back into the West

as a small appeasement becauseof the great protest

Azikiwe went on to loose Southern Cameroon too 5 years later after the Referendum there

I'm an idoma from Benue. The difference between us and northerners is like heaven and earth. Culturally, we have more in common with the Igbos, we even share same market days (Nkwo, Eke, Ede, A for).

Here we go again with igbo as a tribe not being able to sleep in the night or day because of a tall Yoruba giant they envy but can't rival it success wisdom or glory.

How a thread questioning similarities of Benue state btw the north n Igbos became involved with the tall Yoruba giant ghost that give foolish n God forsaken cursed Igbo nightmare is what I can not explain.

Even the ones that started it on the front page are known igbos here o.
I guess they must sleep, eat talk and even write about Yoruba daily to feel blessed otherwise........😂😁😁😂

The Tivs are of Bantoid origin like most cultural groups in Central Nigeria and were the last group to Nigeria. They migrated from Congo via Cameroon. Tivs share no similarities in culture with the core North nor Igbos. They have a distinct culture.

Basically when we talk about Benue we talk about lower Benue ie Idoma, Igede, Utonkon, Izza etc
