Dont be fooled by Benue people. There may be people in the lower Benue such as Benue Igbos, Igede and lower Idoma who dont behave like Northerners

When the North finally give Biafra their independence, they will only leave with their 4 ancestral States. Namely; Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi States. Anambra will remain in the North.

Benue State is a South East Zone State. In a 42 CONSTITUTIONAL STATES STRUCTURE, BENUE STATE WILL BE IN THE SE ZONE.

The Tiv tribe of Benue state has their own unique culture and tradition. They were mostly hunters and warriors in the olden days. The man name Tiv was a hunter whom is believed to have migrated from where in South Africa or Congo and it is said they're the lineage of the Bantu. Religiously the tribe idoma is even more northern that the Tiv tribe because they were conquered to an extent that's why Agatu people are mostly Muslims and practice islam but you can't say thesame for the Tivs since it's even forbidden for any of the tribe men to convert to islam talk more of practicing it in the family. If not for the fact that the Tivs fought for this place we call Benue state today they wouldn't have been any state here like this, because the first ruler sardauna of sokoto appointed was a fulani man and his son Audu took over from him which is why they usually call makurdi "town of Audu".

Makir Zakpe and some other two Tiv men were Brittain soldiers so the then queen of England told them to travel home and see how far their own people are faring and that was how these soldiers came back to Benue and discovered that it was a Muslim man that was imposed on the people of Benue state. They got angry and travelled to meet with sardauna of sokoto so he could let the people choose their own king, so that was how sardauna told them he will resolve the matter but he didn't travelled to Benue state and never cared so after a couple of weeks these brave soldiers stormed the Muslim king's palace and swipe out everybody there and later took the king's body and threw it in the river Benue.

So they came back and asked for the people to choose their king but they were all scared and they told them to choose from among themselves so since Makir Zakpe was the most senior soldiers he was made the first king of Benue state and the people relocated his palace from makurdi to Gboko because makurdi is too close to the water body and that anything can happen.

The other ill treatment core northerners gave to the Tiv tribe is by saying that the capital of Benue state is otukpo but that was reversed by Gowon during his time as head of state, and these happened just because it was a Tiv man that trained Gowon in school so he felt he was indepted to them.

Even the son of Uthman Dan Fodio whom was the leader of his jihad war was killed in Benue state even Queen Amina of Zaria was killed in Benue too by Tiv tribe so the north hates the Tivs in all ramifications because they shattered their plans, if not for that intervention they would have been more Muslims in South East and South South than it is now.

They don't travel, nor do they know Benue people and are quick to separate people from SE. Same way they do to the Ibibio and Efik, all because the they hate Igbos. I grew up in Benue, let me tell you, there is nothing in common between Benue people and core North. Idomas share more with Igbos than their fellow state's men and women, the Tiv, the largest ethnic group with 12 local government areas. The Tiv share more in common with Taraba and Nasarrawa people since they border those states or people, but again, those people in Taraba and Nasarawa are not core North. The Idoma, Etulo, Igede and Igbos on the south side of the state, share more in common with Igbos and control 8 local government areas.

In fact, there is not much difference between Igbo and Idoma. They look alike, share same culture and tradition, same market days and Idomas have Igbo middle names like Ochefu, Onyenefu, Oyinye, Eche, Acha, Agada, Alechenu, Udoka, Ochogwu, Acholonu, Agbo, e.t.c. I can tell the difference in looks between idomas and Tiv, because they are not the same people. Tiv people tend to be mostly dark to very dark skin and have smaller body frame. While Idomas are more like Igbos, they have dark skin, have light skin, have brown skin and are well built and muscular like Igbos.

As an idoma man, traditionally and culturally i have more in common with the igbos than any other tribe in nigeria including the tiv. We have nothing in common with the north and i do not see myself as a northerner. Our culture and traditions are unique on it's own.

I never said he conquered Benue, what I said was that northern Nigeria is designated by virtue of the places where jihad war was fought so Benue state stood to be the last place they invaded but unfortunately they lost. I don't know why u see religion as regional identity? This is myopic, uncivilised thinking!
There is no part of Northern Nigeria that we don't have Christians, seeing Christianity as regional identity is absurdity to the highest order.
Benue is very vast, t is bounded on the south by Cross River, Ebonyi, and Enugu states, on the west by Kogi state, on the North by Nassawara state, and on the northeast by Taraba state. Only primitive, unexposed, ethno-religious jingoist can use religion as regional identity in Nigeria.
