The All Progressives Congress, APC has spoken concerning the newly formed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Fresh PDP. The APC said the PDP had yet to learn any lesson from its sordid past, adding that it was evident in the ongoing squabbles which had given rise to a splinter group within the party. The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, spoke with Punch in Abuja, on Thursday, reacting to allegations by the PDP House of Representatives caucus that the APC was behind the new PDP faction. Abdullahi stated, “We are not interested in these individuals; we are not interested in the internal affairs of the PDP. “Instead of looking for someone to blame, they should search their conscience and realise that nothing built on falsehood can stand. “It is their falsehood catching up with them less than two weeks after their convention. “Their falsehood has caught up with them within two weeks, nothing built on falsehood can survive what they are simply demonstrating to Nigerians is that they have not learnt any lesson from their past. They should try to sort out themselves.” http://anstalk.com/apc-speaks-fresh-pdp/

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said yesterday, that Bishop of Enugu, Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, is a member of a political party. Okorocha through a release to newsmen in Owerri, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, was apparently reacting to a statement credited to the Bishop, accusing Okorocha’s istration of wasteful spending of state resources. Chukwuma had recently asked President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently call Okorocha to order for wasting millions of naira on erecting statues. Reacting to the cleric’s speech, Okorocha claimed Chukwuma was being used by his politicians enemies to rubbish him. According to the release, “We have read in the media and indeed, with reservation statements credited to the Bishop of Enugu Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma accusing Governor Rochas Okorocha of wasteful spending of state fund and maltreating workers and pensioners. He then called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the governor to order. “Honestly, we do not find it easy reacting to claims by notable men of God like Bishop Chukwuma, but in this instant case, the Bishop had spoken not only as a politician but as a card-carrying member of a political party and not as a Bishop. “Reason being that politicians are most of the times associated with blackmail, propaganda and marketing of falsehood, but ordained ministers of God are believed to be agents of truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. “Governor Rochas Okorocha’s achievements as governor in less than seven years have exceeded or superceeded the achievements of all the istrations before him since 1976 when the state was created, put together.” http://anstalk.com/okorocha-fires-back-bishop-chukwuma/ lalasticlala

Press Release EFCC Arrest on Innoson Group Motors Boss. Our attention has been drawn on a tweet by EFCC on its official twiiter handle claiming that the gestapo kind of arrest of Dr Innocent Chukwuma (OFR) today at his Enugu residence was because he didnt honour an invitation from the commission sent to him. This claim by the commission is not factual and it tends to mislead the public and bring the personality and character of Dr Innocent Chukwuma to disrepute. Hence we want to state the true position so as to inform the general public the truth about this matter. EFCC never at any time invited Dr Innocent Chukwuma either in writting or through any other means. We are aware that EFCC investigated GTB complaint against Innoson in 2012. During the investigation he was invited and he honoured the invitation. After the investigation EFCC filed a charge against him at Lagos State High Court. The charge was subsequently struck out. However Dr Innocent Chukwuma and Innoson Nigeria Ltd appealed against the order striking out the case on the basis that it ought to be dismissed and not struck out. The appeal - appeal no. Ca/l/1330cm/2017 Is till date still pending at the Court of Appeal Lagos division. Till date, EFCC never invited Dr Innocent Chukwuma again. On this recent arrest, Dr Innocent Chukwuma (OFR) has not been told officially the purpose of his arrest and he demands to know why. The Kano State Government said on Monday that it had destroyed illicit drugs worth N4.1 billion confiscated in the state in 2017 alone. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje who revealed this at the Senate Roundtable on Drug Abuse Epidemic held in Kano, said this was part of the renewed fight against drug abuse in the state. The event was organised by the Senate as a way of finding lasting solution to the hard drug crisis in the country. Ganduje, who was represented by his deputy, Prof Hafiz Abubakar, said the drugs were confiscated in different parts of the state after being imported by unpatriotic medicine dealers. He disclosed that the state government had also confiscated another consignment of illicit drugs worth N1 billion which would soon be destroyed. The governor said the menace of hard drugs in the state was beyond the capacity of the state government to contain. “The fight against drug abuse is an issue that requires active Federal Government’s intervention as it is beyond the capacity of the state government,” he said. He said as part of its efforts to tackle the problem, the state government had set up a task force to deal with it, pointing out that the committee was doing its best. “Even in 2012 during the istration of former Governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, a task force was set up for it and was given all the necessary to work. “But as I said, the fight is far beyond the capacity of the state government. There is need for all stakeholders to hands together to fight the menace,” he said. According to him, the state government had recently expanded the rehabilitation center for the victims of drug abuse in the state. He commended the Senate for initiating the roundtable and expressed hope that it would go a long way in addressing the problem. He also lauded the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for choosing Kano as the venue for the event, in view of the relevance of the state to the issue at stake. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that various stakeholders from across the country attended the roundtable. http://anstalk.com/illicit-drugs-worth-n4-1bn-destroyed-kano/ 1 Like 1 Share |

The Onitsha drug market, otherwise known as Bridge Head Market was in the early hours of Saturday gutted by fire, leaving goods worth millions of naira destroyed in the inferno. Sources said the fire incident started at about 6am on Saturday from Redemption Line of the market but the quick intervention of men of the Fire Service from Onitsha Main market and Building Materials Market Ogidi prevented the fire from spilling over to other parts of the market. When DAILYPOST visited the market ,traders were seen in clusters clearing their shops of rubble and counting their losses. No life was lost in the incident, but goods and cash lost in the disaster were described as colossal. A victims, Chidubem Uzochukwu, told our correspondent that he lost N700,000 cash and goods worth over N15 million. The President of Association of Medical and Pharmaceutical Products Dealers Onitsha Market, Mr. Uche Eze, said he was called by market security men at about 6.15 am on Saturday that there was fire outbreak at Redemption Line and he quickly called men of the Fire Service from Onitsha Main Market and Building Material Market Ogidi. He said he also alerted of his executive, who responded immediately and were able to quench the fire to avoid it spreading to the entire market. He said ,”When I arrived at the market the fire was still raging, of my executive were also here with me, including the President General of Bridge Head Markets Association Mr. Sunday Obinze, Chairman of Redemption Line and his Secretary, Alvin Okpaleke, were all here helping the Fire Service officials to quench the fire. “Several shops were affected and millions of naira both in cash and goods were lost to this fire incident. “You can see for yourself the debris left in the shops. The owners equipped their shops with goods for the Christmas sales, but you can see what has happened. “The whole market would have been engulfed by the fire if not for our prompt response in calling the fire fighting men from both markets. “We are therefore appealing to Governor Willie Obiano to come to the assistance of the affected traders; they have lost all they have been working for over the years in just one incident. “We are also appealing to the governor to provide us with fire service equipment; it is unfortunate that the entire Bridge Head Markets Association has no fire service facility to tackle this kind of problem.” http://anstalk.com/millions-wasted-as-fire-guts-onitsha-drug-market/

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has commended the Chairman of Stanel Group, Mr Stanley Uzochukwu, for fuel availability, accurate metre and for maintaining official pump price of N145/litre in Awka while other stations either have no product or selling above N185/litre in the wake of fuel scarcity in the country. Stanel World, Akwa is witnessing unprecedented crowd and queue seeking for better services, especially in this era of fuel scarcity because it is the only mega centre not only selling the scarce product at its official pump price but also maintaining accurate metre, making fuel available and rendering other luxury services 24/7. It would be recalled that the prevailing situation of petrol unavailability across the country has caused untold hardship to Nigerians prompting the intervention of government ahead of the yuletide. The luxury centre is peoples’ choice in Awka because of the first class services it renders to the public. Some are there to take petroleum products, picking bread from the bakery, refreshing in the Stanel eateries (Chicken Republic) while others are there fixing their luxury cars in the company’s car clinic and wash, seeking for laundry at laundry, seeking for booking for the event centre, shopping at the Supper Market, Farmers’ Market, etc. Recently, the company also unveiled Café service at Stanel World, Awka, providing first-class relaxation services and entertainment to its teeming customers. The governor and his entourage were received at the Café by Uzochukwu yesterday where a Nigerian popular musician, Flavour, ushered in the guests with a live music on stage. In his entourage were the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Commissioners, SSG, party leaders and other dignitaries. Endorsing the bread made in the company’s bakery, the governor ordered that everyone at the premises (customers and ersby alike) should be served with the bread while relaxing at the Café with his entourage. http://anstalk.com/fuel-scarcity-obiano-hails-stanel-groups-steadfastness/ 1 Share |
