gtim4uall: Exactly, that's why the US are avoiding a confrontation. 1 Like |

Let’s start with a few assumptions 1. No nukes 2. No allies. Russia doesn’t have many military allies and the US has dozens- obviously, this tilts things. Let’s assume (rather unrealistically) that there is a war between just the US and Russia. Who would win? The US would win- and it would dominate. (note these numbers are a little off- the now favor the US more than before) Airforce: The US boasts the strongest air force on earth. Not only is it the largest by a margin, but it is also the most technologically advanced by quite a degree. 350,000 personnel 5,800 aircraft The Russian airforce is very large and advanced- yet its total cost is about 20% of the US airforce. Russia employs older jets and technology compared to the US 190,000 personnel 4,000 Aircraft Navy: The US Navy is by far the largest and most expensive fleet on earth. The US focuses on surface fleet action with combat being centered around “supercarriers” and carrier strike groups. 350,000 personnel 480 ships 2,5000 aircraft The Russian Navy operates differently than the US Navy. The Russians cannot afford a large carrier fleet and so they utilize more submarines and missile strike craft. This strategy can work when employed correctly but doesn’t do well against large surface fleets. 150,000 personnel 350 ships no aircraft in significant numbers Ground forces: The US Army is not the largest on earth but it is most expensive. US troops are some of the best equipped and best trained troops on earth. The US spends love static defense. US forces like infantry to be well ed by APCs, tanks, and air. 1 million personnel without about half being active duty The Russian army is much smaller than the US army by a margin and is also less advanced. Russia has banked on Armored warfare and thus has a larger fleet of tanks and armored vehicles than the US. 900,000 personnel with 280,000 being active duty Military the US and Russia have different strategies when it comes to war. The US has the best of the best in about everything while Russia employs what it can afford. Looking at the Navy’s of these 2 nations is a great example. The US has a massive surface fleet with 12 hyper-expensive carriers. Russia cannot afford more than 2 or 3 carriers so they know they cannot compete on the surface. Thus Russia has invested in missile craft and submarines, hoping this will allow them to combat the US fleet for a cheaper cost. In the end though the US simply has the larger military and the more technologically advanced military. That's not all either. The US has a far larger economy than Russia- with the US economy being 13 times larger (in of GDP) The US economy is more advanced than the Russian economy with a far higher GDP per capita. This advancement also allows the US economy to withstand shocks better. The US has the geographical advantage. It would be nearly impossible to invade the US given it’s bordered by the 2 largest oceans. Russia meanwhile is bordered by US allies and even if we take the allies out of the equation, Russia is more exposed than the US. Likely both nations are impossible to conquer though The US has a lot of control over foreign markets and global trade and it could easily blockade Russia into economic ruin. 1 Share |

I'm going to have to say child soldiers are the most frightening in combat, 8-12 year olds being the worst. These kids are usually drugged up, forced into whatever war their adults place them in, many have been sexually abused. No grown-up soldiers wants to kill children, even if they are trying to kill you. Netflix had an incredible movie called Beasts of No Nations, it was about how a young orphaned boy ends up as a child soldier. Most of the enemies of the free world haved used child soldiers in one capacity or another. A prime example is the unarmed child waves the Iranian military used against the Iraqis during that war. The Iranians used 10-13 year old boys to run forward of the main body to clear mines and other obstacles as well as being ‘human shields' for the Iranian military during attacks. The Palestinians have used toddlers straped with explosives and set them against Israeli Soldiers. This happened 100s of times during the Vietnam War. The VC would strap grenades to small children and send them towards the American lines. I would say child soldiers are the most frightening in combat, because even the most combat hardened soldier will end up hesitant to shoot a child soldier.

This type of soldier: Those carrying antenna ![]() Any soldier seen with antenna’s sticking out of their gear or carrying a radio should strike pure terror into the hearts of their adversaries. Snipers are pretty spooky, special operations personnel are highly skilled and can strike you anywhere anytime, and child soldiers present opposing forces with a brutal moral dilemma on the battlefield. All that pales in comparison with what this particular soldier is capable of in combat… All he needs is your location and the all-clear, and all of hell could simultaneously be delivered precisely to your location in a matter of minutes. If you see a soldier with a big radio on his back, be very wary cause you don't wanna find out what's at the other end of the Antenna… ![]() ![]() ![]() 4 Likes |

From an interrogation perspective: Snipers are assholes. That's a period to the left. Snipers have lots of Intel to include: Enemy tactics, techniques, and procedures. Enemy troop movements. Communication methods. Enemy dispositions (locations). They are expert map readers, they know the terrain, and even worse, they know you better than most any other enemy combatant. That being said, it's rare that you ever catch an enemy sniper alive, because like others have posted, they would rather die than be captured. Not to mention, we don’t eff around with snipers, we generally drop multiple and very expensive bombs with the explicit purpose of blowing the shit out of them on the battlefield. Personally, my (the op) team tracked down a single sniper for many months during combat (Intel side). He was responsible for so many deaths on my side of the court. They killed him all the way dead. I think they made a movie about it. But whatever. When you are lucky enough to capture a sniper for interrogation, you found a gold mine of Intel. Cheers 5 Likes 1 Share |

The eight-foot-diameter heat shield will safeguard everything within its umbra, the shadow it casts on the spacecraft. At Parker Solar Probe’s closest approach to the Sun, temperatures on the heat shield will reach nearly 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, but the spacecraft and its instruments will be kept at a relatively comfortable temperature of about 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat shield is made of two s of superheated carbon-carbon composite sandwiching a lightweight 4.5-inch-thick carbon foam core. The Sun-facing side of the heat shield is also sprayed with a specially formulated white coating to reflect as much of the Sun’s energy away from the spacecraft as possible. The heat shield itself weighs only about 160 pounds — here on Earth, the foam core is 97 percent air. Because Parker Solar Probe travels so fast — 430,000 miles per hour at its closest approach to the Sun, fast enough to travel from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., in about one second — the shield and spacecraft have to be light to achieve the needed orbit. The reinstallation of the Thermal Protection System — which was briefly attached to the spacecraft during testing at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Maryland, in fall 2017 — marks the first time in months that Parker Solar Probe has been fully integrated. The heat shield and spacecraft underwent testing and evaluation separately at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, before shipping out to Astrotech Space Operations in Titusville, Florida, in April 2018. With the recent reunification, Parker Solar Probe inches closer to launch and toward the Sun. Parker Solar Probe is part of NASA’s Living with a Star Program, or LWS, to explore aspects of the Sun-Earth system that directly affect life and society. LWS is managed by Goddard for the Heliophysics Division of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington, D.C. The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory manages the Parker Solar Probe mission for NASA. APL designed and built the spacecraft and will also operate it.

The American space agency NASA says a spacecraft has entered the sun’s outermost atmosphere for the first time. The Parker Solar Probe traveled through the solar atmosphere’s outer edge – known as the corona – in April, scientists announced this week. They said it took them a few months to examine data from the spacecraft and to confirm the result. Unlike Earth, the sun does not have a solid surface. Instead, it is a superheated ball of material held together by gravity and magnetic forces. Some solar material escapes and is released into space in what is known as the solar wind. The solar wind is the flow of charged particles, known as plasma, released from the corona into space. The Parker Solar Probe was launched in 2018 with a main goal of studying the solar wind. Scientists say being able to study the solar wind and the corona close up can help them better understand how solar activity influences Earth. NASA has described the spacecraft’s entry into the outermost atmosphere as successfully “touching” the sun. Nour Raouafi is the project scientist on the mission. He is with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland. Raouafi called the finding "fascinatingly exciting.” The spacecraft is now able to sense conditions in the magnetically-influenced corona for the very first time, Raouafi said. He added that the evidence used to confirm the findings included data on magnetic fields and the solar wind, as well as images. “We can actually see the spacecraft flying through coronal structures that can be observed during a total solar eclipse,” Raouafi said. Scientists announced the findings during a meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Results were also published by the American Physical Society. The scientists reported Parker was about 13 million kilometers from the center of the sun when it crossed the boundary between the solar atmosphere and the solar wind. They said the spacecraft was able to go in and out of the corona at least three times. The Parker team said early data also suggested the spacecraft may have entered the corona during its ninth close in August. But further study is needed to make a confirmation. The scientists said Parker made its 10th close last month. The spacecraft is expected to keep getting closer to the sun and diving deeper into the corona until its final orbit, planned for 2025. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, wants Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford. This claim was made by respected Italian journalist, Ciro Venerato. Reports had emerged that Ronaldo could be leaving Man United at the end of the season due to the club’s poor results, quality of the squad and problems in the dressing room so far this season. According to Venerato, Manchester United are targeting a summer move for Osimhen as a replacement for Ronaldo. Osimhen continues to be linked with a transfer to the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window, with Arsenal and Newcastle United also mentioned as possible destinations for the Super Eagles attacker. But Venerato believes that Napoli’s owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, would be forced to do business with one of Osimhen’s suitors if the Serie A club received a bid in the region of 100 million euros. “Manchester United focuses on the Nigerian, Rangnick wants him to replace Cristiano Ronaldo,” Venerato said on La Domenica Sportiva, according to calcioinpillole. “The club and the player have already been probed, with President De Laurentiis valuing him 100 million. “At the same time, Napoli asked Sassuolo for information for Scamacca, considered by Spalletti as the best possible heir of Osimhen.” Osimhen’s current contract with Napoli will expire in the summer of 2023. While the United States are the number 1 in the world and Russia second. The Russian military have been more effective lately than the US, they were able to overwhelm Georgia and made progress in Syria which lead to the establishment of a permanent base there and a sure economical benefits when the Syria economy starts booming again. Now, the US attack on Libya and Afghanistan was what some will say a failure, with the Libya own making other NATO question their actions. The US fights and try to replace government unlike Russia and that's their problem, they always intend to place their pattern of government to other nations which they never succeeded as in the case of Libya. The US army lack proper planning at times, in some situations they fail to create an exit plan unlike the Russia military whom are very effective. Now to the above statement I think this is down to the fact Russia's president whom for long has been in power and we all also know he was part of the Russian force and he is definitely skilled and tactical unlike the US which have seen different Presidents with different approach. The US might be superior to Russia in military but we all do know war has no victor only those who survived and the US will do every thing to prevent that from happen to avoid anything that will bring their economy down. Now they is nothing like Western Propaganda, the US might not be right in their actions with some certain issue and those are mistake and the issue of CNN along with the rest we all saw their actions during the Trump impeachment and the Election, for example during the Iran and US face off, everyone was expecting retaliation from US after their base was attacked by Iranian missiles, then Trump clearly say he won't do such but increase the sanctions on Iran, after the speech a CNN reporter said Trump was going to attack Iran and that was the day I knew they can't be trusted at all. We should never judge a country by it's leaders, they are good people so they are bad ones and most has made bad decisions and also good ones. All am saying is we should stop insulting these countries, for example Nigeria is a great nation but our leaders are the ones bringing her to her knees. My own opinion what's your view. |
