Dalot is a quality player and young @25 (he will be 25yrs tomorrow). If Perez can get him for a decent fee this summer, I think he will do well with us as a backup/replacement for Calvajah.

cybergeek: I just looked GeorgiaTech up. It's a highly ranked public school and one of the best engineering colleges. I don't know your total COA but I will advise you try to get funding from your department if they didn't give you any during ission. The school also has tangible endowment funds so might be lucky to get funding from your program if you try hard. Wish you best of luck, bro! 2 Likes |

cybergeek: I am in a similar situation. I've got an offer from a school for MS but with only $8K tuition scholarship (leaving roughly under $40K deficit for the rest of tuition + boarding expenses + health/books). I have tried ing some profs and the department head for more funding via GRA position or added scholarships but I haven't gotten a positive response so far. You can try this too: message faculty of your course and introduce yourself as a newly itted student interested in RA position in their labs. IMO, if the deficit is too much and you don't have a sponsor, it makes little sense to worry yourself about Georgia Tech. Just don't make any decision until at least the last day possible (my school gave me the 10th of April). If before then, any other school gives you a better offer then I would advise you go with the new school. If by the GeorgiaTech offer acceptance deadline day and you still haven't gotten any ission offer from your other options, then you have to make the tricky decision: accept Georgia Tech and rally around for a sponsor or use MPower loan and pursue your visa chances. OR reject and keep hustling for a better opportunity. But I am positive that you will get something good in the coming weeks. Good luck to your Fall 2024 U.S dreams, Adeolu! 1 Like 1 Share |

anchex101: I didn't mean it as an attack. I was only trying to be sympathetic toward such a heartbreak "your friend" had to through. But tbh, one can't accurately point out the reason for the denial with the loopholes in your narration, which was another reason I asked my earlier question. We (and you) don't know the first two questions and the response he gave. That might be where the VO picked suspicion and had to ask for the opinions of her other VOs. So until your friend tells the full story himself, any advice given will be based on half-truths and sentiments. Also, you seemed to know so much about the said friend which was another reason I picked suspicion that there is really no friend. But I'm happy you cleared my doubt that you're not. Please send your friend the link of this thread and we'll be happy to assist him in getting the desired solution. |

Slimszy: Localboy48: I think he used their national college rankings on USnews or other websites to compare. But I believe UMD is more prestigious than UF. A comparison of their tuition cost, alumni network, average post-graduation salary, faculty size/ratio etc. puts UMD higher than UF. But well, opinions defers, so no one is absolutely right or wrong. Congrats, Slimzy! It's a thing of joy to be in your situation: having the opportunity of picking between two great offers. I will advise you to make your personal research and add with opinions you get here (and/or other forums) then go with your intuition. Wish you success in the next stage (Visa Interview) and a safe journey to Florida/Maryland🙏🏽. 2 Likes |

fearlessfang: Point of View (PoV) is very key in this life. While it's advisable to have tangible scholarship and low or mid-range deficit, the honest truth is that not everyone can have this. not every F-1 hopefuls had stellar Undergraduate results. Some folks don't even meet the required 3.0/4.0 CGPA (after WES evaluation) for Msc ission. Yet these persons still have the dream of one day getting a F-1 visa. They will apply to grad schools and if they are lucky, they might get itted to MSc programs but their poor CGPA will cut them out of scholarly funding opportunities and GRA/GTA positions. Should that deter them? No! So I can't really tell a total stranger what to do because I don't know where him/her is coming from. This might be MoshJ first ission success after many attempts hence, he wants to see it to the end. Our advice to him was for the best, but I understand the feeling of "let me just try my luck after all I have no other option." So I wish him well in his attempt. Who knows, luck might shine on him on that day and he scales through. As long as he followed through the whole ission process himself (not through rubbish agents), even if he gets denied, it won't be all bad because of the lessons learned from the experience. Unrelated: My advice for folks with poor academic standings. Try to do WES evaluation to at least boost your GP. A WES evaluated grade on 4.00 will always look better than our 5.00 grade. Take the GRE/GMAT/TOEFL and give your best to ace them. Then leverage on your work/research experience. If your dream program is say Biotechnology, apply to Biotech firms or research institutes like IITA even if it's just an intern role. Work with their top guys and try publish at least one academic paper. If you have the funds, you can attend international academic conferences. All these will count favorably to your graduate school application and might even give you an edge over applicants with better academic records. Who knows, you might even get a fully funded PhD program with your low CGPA ![]() https://www.linkedin.com/posts/kushimo-oluwatobi_phd-graduateschool-robotics-ugost-7171647224756523009-2BHA 3 Likes |

Mjosh1000: fearlessfang: All these back-and-forth insults are unnecessary. It should be our prayer that everyone succeeds in this U.S Japa struggle. No need wishing bad on others. Just drop your advice. If the person doesn't heed to the advice and goes ahead to blow their money for visa interview, then it's their choice. I will still wish Mjosh success in his interview even with the $63k deficit (all backed by Mpower loan) and hope he somehow scales through despite the odds against him. If he fails, then he'll learn from his experience and know better to be more realistic/objective next time. 1 Like |

Drella: Most times, you have to be valuable to someone to get value in return. Except you're his close Gee from his broke days or family, a rich/financially comfortable guy would hardly see any point relating with you or even worse taking his time to mentor you. He will always ask himself: Why? What is in for me to spend my time (and possibly resources) teaching this stranger? My advice for you is don't envy these successful guys nor feel bad whenever you get aired by them. Everyone is out to avoid added liabilities while improving their current financial/societal standings to a higher level. First work hard on yourself to become more social. Try relating with normal average guys around you. Learn to build solid and genuine friendships with like-minded people (in form of true brotherhood). If you're not interested in learning how to build genuine friendship first, then you will always come off as just another selfish guy trying to leech off other people's success. Or better still, learn to navigate your life as a lone wolf which is the harder route but the best for a hardened introvert. pansophist: The bolded is a basic truth most people don't like to accept. Everyone avoids liabilities. Affection, Pity, and gratitude (for past deeds) are the reasons people accept liabilities of their long-term friends, family, and loved ones. Even in sexual relationships where one partner is a liability to the other, we can still say there is an exchange of value: liabilities for 84 Likes 10 Shares |

Petrified235555: Tufts University doesn't require WES. They prefer your original school transcript. I am sure there are tons of others but Tufts was the only one out of 4 schools I applied to that requested my original transcripts over the WES evaluated one I initially ed. 1 Like |

Mjosh1000: Your deficit is too high boss. Also you don't have personal funds to offset the $63K and relying 100% on loan? Visa Officer would doubt the credibility of you paying back such a huge loan after your studies knowing that it will take a lifetime to earn that much in Nigeria. While we can’t predict the outcome of your visa interview if you go ahead with it; going with sample size of similar scenarios, your chances are very slim tbh. My advice: If you can get tangible funding from your school by applying to GRA positions (if available) then good, you can still go ahead. But if you can't, I will advise you not to bother with the school and try another school that will give you funding. Or maybe if Fall, 2024 is too late, you can work more on improving your profile (GRE/GMAT, TOEFL, Stronger SOPs/LORs, WES etc) and try again next ission cycle. |

Devvy4:I hope Diaz gets fit before Sunday for Celta game so he can start on the RW. Anyway I think you should calm down with your Rodrygo bashings so it won't look like a hate campaign against the boy. While I agree that Rodrygo deserves less game time with his current poor form, I am still sure that he will come good later on. He had some nice moments yesterday and could have scored a great solo goal but he messed up the final shot. |

EDUECO: Same here. Zenith is one of the safest stock for newbie long-term investors to avoid stress. It's price appreciation might be slow but steady due to organic growth backed by results. Just buy as your power reach every month end and you will be fine in the long run. 3 Likes |

Every time I watch EPL big games or other top European teams in UCL, I will just be thanking God that we got Vini Jr. Just watch the rubbish Doku is playing today. Man has been having back-to-back poor performances in City. Apart from Mbappe, there is no better LW in the Europe than Vini. In general for wingers, only Salah and Mbappe beats Vini (I've much respect for Son tho).

Taal17: Yes, you're right but na naira depreciation cause these high fees. U.S charge $185 for F1 visa in almost all countries so why should they lower this fee for only Nigerians? Some years ago same visa fee was less than 100K so I can't really put all the blame on US consular for this new 333K. |
![]() |
ARISTOCRATDAMMY1: Now that back market rate has come down to #1500-1600, US consular should have just maintained their last rate of #1500/$. #1800/$ is too much na, them just like to rip us. |

monerozi5590: Same here. That was how same set of Madrid fans were always hating on Asensio but giving love to Hospital-merchant Hazard for much of 2020-2022, until it became clear that Hazard was a bona-fide flop. Go back to 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, you will see their posts clamoring for Asensio to be binned but giving excuses for Hazard to get another chance (swears, I was furious then). Now same Asensio is still balling in PSG while their MCM is retired. We have seen what Rodrygo can do and the boy has loads of receipts of his world class ability. But you’re hyping other players who haven't done shit for our team (likes of Brahim, Guler, Endrick) over him? Clamoring for new toys is normal for kids, but a wise man would always trust his old guards over unproven ones that could easily turn out as flops. Thankfully, Don Carlo is a wise old man so he will always stick with Rodrygo ![]() |

Rodrygo na flop but you keep crying for the invisible-man Guler to be subbed in every game like he is some Messi-regen? Endrick >> Rodrygo? ![]() Come that 2026, Rodrygo will be a bona-fide world class player balling for Brazil at USA26. It will be interesting to know where/what your faves would have become by then. 2026 no far sha, so we will definitely revisit this episode ![]() 1 Like |

Devvy4: Guler and Paz ain't deep lying playmaker. In fact our current crop of midfielders don't dominate games without Kroos (the evidence is clear this season). Kroos and Modric are the only good DLPs in our current roster so Kimmich buy makes sense. Guler and Paz will fight for minutes upfront in any of the attacking positions or AM role. Also Kimmich just clocked 29 so we can easily get 4-5 years from him, and he is one of the best available DLPs around. A No Brainer transfer IMO if the price is right. For your last sentence: Kimmich will slot in easily in Kroos current position should the latter leave this season. Kimmich - Tchouameni - Valverde works perfectly for this current system with Bellingham in the AM role as a diamond 4. 1 Like |

Should we go for Kimmich this Summer if he will come in cheap (say around €40-50m)? I think Kimmich will do a good job in our midfield should Modric/Kroos leave and we bin Ceballos (He's too mid IMO).
