This one hit me last year. Not sure there is a way you can totally avoid it. It's just to hope the ripp off won't be too bad as advised.

I went to the aluminium company with the roofer. While there, observed side discussion between the roofer and the receptionists, cashier and even the guys in the factory; was also sure the quantity he quote was much more than needed. I made payment for all the quantity in his quote but was so determined to leave there with exact quantity I paid for.

Based on my observation, I made sure we measured/count all over before leaving the factory and told him categorically that the quantity was padded but he denied. It was at the point I threatened to report to the company's customer care he started prostrating, begging and opened up that is where they make gain, no much gain in installation, his wife just gave birth and needs money ...plenty plenty stories.... Said the quantity he added would fetch him 140k or so, I just pitied him and retrieved half even though I know the quantity added would fetch him more than that.

KolaShangOne:

Hmmmm..

Well.. I'm pretty sure the installer won't give you his cutting list.. So I don't think you can go get it yourself.

If you're trying to curtail cheating by going to get it yourself, there's a way installers signal the factory people and they'll still make their money..

Wow, with this a novice like me can hardly get to confirm if original.

I would just look for a Coleman major distributor store around to buy from.

Many thanks for the heads up. Appreciated.

topsy23:

There are 3 categories of cables in the market

1-. Copper coated
2- re-branded i.e re-coil 85m
3 - China cable with Coleman label.

Category 1

You can be tested with magnet. If it's magnetize it means it's not original

Category 2
There is no way you will know

Category 3
Using digital vernier caliper to measure the diameter of the copper

Many thanks, I really appreciate your response.

Sorry for bothering you, is there a way one can know/differentiate the original Coleman wire?

Thank you.

topsy23:

These are not updated price

1.5mm 11,000
2.5mm 18000
4mm. 30,000
16mm. 112,000
Tsuccesssquare: 8:40pm On Dec 29, 2021
Good evening Sir,

Kindly assist with current price of these.

The quotation I was given has lower prices, and am wondering if they are for original Coleman wire.

topsy23:

1.5mm 9980
2.5mm 16600
4mm 27000
10mm 65000

Tsuccesssquare: 10:14pm On Dec 28, 2021
Plenty thanks for this breakdown.

I am also at this stage. Same 3 bedroom ensuite, just that mine has two water heater.

Kindly assist with price for original Coleman for all of these wire.

CC: Twinskenny

.
topsy23:

Like earlier said by twinskenny the normal cable for 3-bedroom flat excluding the fence light is as follows

1.5mm
Red. 4
Black 3
Green 1(for traveller i.e 2-way switch)

2.5mm
Red 3
Black 3
1.5mm green for the earth 3.

Reason for having 1.5mm green 4-coils.

My concern for the 4mm cable. Why can't your electrician buy the require length in yard or meter for the colour code instead of using the same colour code for LIVE, NEUTRAL and EARTH.

The 10mm cable is okay
Go for original Coleman as instructed by Kenny. We have alot of fake cables in the market. Copper coated is common these days.

Wish best on your project

Update on the progress.

I just finished the outside plastering.

22 bags of cement used. Each bag is 3,700 Naira.

The bricklayer collected 40,000 Naira for the plastering.

1 trip of sharp sand used (not exhausted)

I decided to tile the veranda wall.

Total of 30 cartons of wall tiles. Each carton is 2,800 Naira.

3 small pack of white cement.

The tiler used 12 bags of cement.

Paid the tilers 25,000 for workmanship.

Good evening,

Is your bricklayer a Cotonou guy? I need his for plaster work. From all am seeing here, his price is very okay. Cumulative of all you spent for labour interior and exterior is not up to 120k.

Mine is requesting for 350k, another said 250k. They also gave quote of 150 and 100 bags of cement respectively. Meanwhile, my bungalow has just one sitting room while yours have two. I really need help on this.

Interesting, I would need this soon.

Few questions.

- What does it require for maintenance? And how often should this be done?

- is there a way this can be buried in the ground for cars to through? Or some part of it must be above the ground level? Location is around Bogije.

- Where will water in this biodigester be discharged to?
Tsuccesssquare: 2:38pm On Nov 28, 2021
AlphamaleTech1:

A bio digester cost #200,000 materials inclusive; means u ain't buying any material or any other cost aside the #200,000.

This looks cheaper than the traditional soak-away system.

The question that keeps coming to mind is why do people still go for the traditional soak-away? when this is cheaper and obviously require lesser space.

Anyone with experience can please share.

Since i will still buy granite, cement, and hire skilled workers, it will be approaching 600-650 for everything.

Many thanks for the response.

Approximately 500,000 Naira.

Wow, is this exclusive of the flooring and beam to cover it?
Tsuccesssquare: 12:19pm On Nov 25, 2021
ojasweb:
We have started sinking the sokaway.

The workmanship fee is 35,000 Naira.

After the sinking, we will do the floor, cast a beam then cover it.

Nice one.

Total of how much did you spend on the soak away?
Tsuccesssquare: 7:29pm On Nov 24, 2021
Muyi002:

Eventually I spent more than that but not too much sha.

8,700 difference is fair.

I might just as well go for this. Thank you for the info.

Hi Good People,
Eventually went for Iron.

Next is tiling o.
Please any idea on the ideal measurement for cement of tiling. I.e. how many bags of cement to square meter both floor and wall

Nice build Sir.

Were you able to do this iron stand with the 180k as planned?

3/4 ppr chrome valve : 4nr instead of 7nr( 3 toilet and a kitchen)
3/4 ppr elbow : 30nr not 60nr, (at most 6nr per toilet)

Plenty thanks Sir. Appreciated.

Averagely is ok, but let him look at few things which seems to be on the high side, like 3/4 ppr elbow, 3/4 chrome valve, 1/2" threaded plug, 3/4 tee, those quantity are much more than what is required,

Thanks so much for the review Sir.

Will do as suggested.

So far a good job is done, this can be done in any season.

Considering your location (Bogije), I’d recommend you do any type of soakaway in the dry season. However, use this period to arrange all materials needed as price of materials are always lower in the rainy season

This is location dependent. For Bogije, I’d recommend cast and sink

I’ll share a link on this shortly.

Sir, don't forget me on this.

Many thanks

Traditionally you want to be out of the ground on your project before the rainy season when possible.

Good luck on your project.
