Good morning...
Stamped Concrete should last for at least 7 years on the average before showing signs of maintenance and places with less traffic like you said will last much more.
As regards cost of maintenance, Interlocks has lower cost of maintenance as you may just need to remove the weeds that grow between the spaces and relay the Interlocks incase some portion sinks.
Also if you use nylon and do small concrete casting before laying Interlocks it will last much more.

Thank you for this info. When you say “some years” , what is the average interval of years this maintenance will be needed.
Also, I know stamped concrete floor is more expensive to install in comparison to interlocking. Want to ask which is less costly maintenance wise (in a private residence with less footfall).
Thank you.
Geekop:
No o. Haba
If properly done, it will last for some years...
You may only need to repolish the floor when it fades.

Would also appreciate any recommended solar flood light products.
Thank you.
Juror:
Let me mention that the Qasa AC/DC standing fan consumes less too, of course it works only via the DC supply but the AC/DC wall fan consumes a lot when you power it via the AC port.

They are all lead acid... Its better u buy all your material yourself and call dem to come and Install.. none of them will give you lithium phosphate batteries quotation for 1.1m meanwhile you can have it all setup for that range. Buy your own material. If you're in Lagos. I can give you of where you will buy all except lifepo4 battery.. u can get those from valto.

Which do you recommend in place of lead acid battery? Is this same as wet cell battery?
Honestly, most this things confuse me. Got a company that gave quote of 1.1m for the 2.5KVA. Maybe I go with that.
SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS
*2.5KVA INVERTER
*12V,220AH battery(x2) ...... wet cell battery
*1400W of Solar Capacity ....Monocrystalline
*Charge Controllers......MPPT
*Installation and Set-Up inclusive

Don't waste 420k on 2 lead acid battery o.. buying inverter n CC separately is even cheaper. That 3kva dey told you is 2,400w continuous running.

Also, they don't have the 2.5KVA available, the ones close available is 2.2KVA and 3KVA
Below were prices I got.
2.2KVA infinity Inverter - 150k
2.2KVA Eastman Inverter - 153k
3KVA Eastman Inverter - 218k
200ah 12v Eastman Battery - 195,000
220ah 12v Eastman Battery - 210,000.

From your quote above, there is no brand name given for the solar s, inverter and batteries. It's why in my initial post i suggested some brand names for every component listed. If you want a kind of complete setup, then you can consider a setup from Luminous https://thesimbaden.com/ or from Eastmann https://eastmannigeria.com/#. They are both Indian brand of inverters and can offer you a complete system with warranty. Check the websites for their addresses and give them a visit. Thank you so much for this breakdown.
The battery part looks a bit confusing, are they in parts?
Jefferyzz:
I'll advice u go with separate system rather than hybrid. ie CC n inverter not integrated together.
For a 24v 2.5kva setup
Inverter 2.5kva 60-80k..
Not sure valto still has instock
Transformersless inverter are are cheaper
Charge controller powmr or techfine (60a) - 85k
s - 300w -75k (4) - 300k
Battery 8(100/120a lifepo4) - 400k
BMS -JK 8s 80a - 32k (from AliExpress)
Other parts needed for the battery assembly - 8k
Instead of those quanta batteries
AC SPD- 8k
DC SPD - 10k
3 DC MCB (16a, 63a, 80a) - 12k
1 AC MCB (10a) - 3k
DC cable for s 6mm -1k/yard(u might need up15yards) - 15k
10mm cables for inside components connectivity (3) 1.5k/yd - 4.5k
Earthing cables for s (single copper core) - 450/yard (10-15yards- 7k max
Earth road 8ft or 2 4ft n er - 12k
Incase u no get am b4
DB (9) - 4k
Change ova - 3k
Mountain rack for ur s with screwset - 10k
I might av left few things out which people here will add.
This adds up to roughly 1m

You can try a 24v setup but with the dollar rates now rising weekly you will need to adjust your budget and move fast.
1. SRNE 24v 3.5KVA inverter with built-in MPPT 150v going for about N235,000.
2. Amaron Quanta Batteries (Two) 200ah AGM batteries going for about N220,000 each that's N440,000.
3. Yingli Solar s 450W ( my last quote on this was August at N110,000 each but please confirm from their offices on the current price. Lets say N880,000
4. Installation & wiring with surge protection. N100,000 (just an estimate but you can negotiate with the installer)
You are already looking at over N1.5M already. But as stated here, the quality and brand of products you choose will determine how long your setups last.
The above setup i believe should fall withing your budget and if need be you can stretch it a bit.
Many thanks for this breakdown, really gave me insight. I would also appreciate review of the quote below, particularly the brand

I would need this for like 17 hours daily, say between 1pm to 6am.
What components do I need for the 2.5KVA set-up that would fit into the 900k budget. Can still stretch to 1m though.
Sorry for the plenty questions, am a novice on the subject matter.
Thanks
Juror:
On the question of what to look out for, everything !
But if you're working on a budget, you could deliberately tone down some parts of your setup, for example. You could go for midrange batteries (and drastically reduce your night loads) while hoping to replace them in about two years or so but go for top class s because those are what would be the major source of power, or you could buy top class panes but reduce their number your if you family is the type that leaves home by 7am and returns by 6pm and you don't have daytime loads etc etc. But while doing these, you're also keeping in mind to the standard setup.
I hope you understand me a bit?

Thanks so much for this insight.
Juror:
The flyer is beautiful but the only thing that looks reassuring there is the quanta batteries mentioned in the list, we don't know what other brands would be used and I am scared about how much would remain from the 900k quoted after the cost of two quanta batteries (about 400k) are deducted. That's around 500k left, you'll spend around 100k or slightly higher for 300+Watts s (the ones that can get you moderate harvest) that's about 400k gone or slightly lower if you go for some fair brands. Wires should cost from 25k and above depending on to setup distance. How about accessories and other appendages, then how about their profit or is it for charity?
The Quanta batteries specifically mentioned in the flier even makes it tough to accept the quote. Like I said they could get it done with cheaper materials but even with that there'll still be some heavy compromise hidden somewhere.
NB: there's nothing wrong with cheap setups if they're not fatal and are done based on budget while still maintaining some level of standard and are used within their true capacity.

You are actually correct. The price is inclusive of all materials and installation.
What's price range that should be considered ideal for the 2.5KVA set-up?
|
Tsuccesssquare: 8:58pm On Oct 31, 2022 |
Juror:
900k to 1m looks insufficient except some of the components are the mid range brands (this isn't condemning them though), going DIY doesn't exactly guarantee that it'll be cheaper too.
You can DIY step by step here and I'm certain you'll most likely be guided by the capable hands here.
NB: lithium apostles should take it easy...lol
Many thanks for your input, appreciated.
Truth is I don't know exact brand that would be used for the set-up. Below is snapshot of info on two variants. Should I want to go the route of DIY, what are the good components/brands I need to look out for?

Greetings to all Gurus in the house.
I need solar inverter setup for my three bedroom, 2.5KVA should be fine for the things I wish to power.
Average cost of 2.5kva from all the online vendors have checked seems to be around 900k to 1m. Crux is am not sure of the quality of what I would get hence I might have to go through the DIY option. Get all the materials needed and pay an installer to fix all.
Gurus in the house, kindly help with items I would need for this setup and likely amount for installation.

One drum and 3 gallons for living room and dining, 3 gallons each for 2 rooms, 1 drum for master bedroom, 2 gallons for age and anteroom or store.
3 drums for ceiling.
3 drums for the external wall, 1 drum for parapet and window hood, 4 drums for the fence.
It may be a bit more or less. I worked on assumption of it being average.
The height of the rooms is also a factor that may increase the quantity required.

Good evening,
Kindly assist with quote for a three bedroom bungalow building. The interior, exterior, POP ceiling have been screeded already.

gbadexy:
From experience and collation of painting charges, I've been able to narrow prices down to charge per bucket for uniformity and ease of negotiation.
Let's take for instance an unscreeded 2 bedroom flats that is charged average N25000 and requires 2 drums for ceiling, 2 drums for living room, dining and age and 1 drum for the two rooms, that would mean N25000 for 5 drums of paint.
That's equivalent of N5000 per drum/ bucket.
Let's even break this further in still simple manner to put the pricing to test.
5 gallons make up a drum/ bucket. To paint a room, on an average, it would require 2 gallons for the ceiling, 3 gallons for the wall.
The average charge for painting a room is N5000. It's still at a regular rate of N5000 per drum.
For screeded wall, the same scenario as above applies except there is going to be sandpaper and dusting involved.
At average cost of N35000 for a screeded 2 bedroom flat using 5 drums of paints for the ceiling and walls, average charge per drum is N7000.
This rate could be helpful in negotiating labor charge based on total drums of paint used.
At Regal paint, we can charge the same rate for both screeded and unscreeded walls at N5000 per drum and make use of machine sandpaper and spraying.

Sir,
Kindly assist with the ideal mix ratio for casting soak-away.
Many thanks.
spyder880:
The toilet pit, soak away tank and septic tank are some of the works you have to be very careful when constructing. If you don't apply good safety precautions, things can go horribly wrong, for instance in the digging stage, if you are digging in sandy soils, you have to be very careful of loose chunks of the soil caving in and burying the guy doing the digging. There are supposed to be at least 2 guys digging at any time.
Also, if you spare materials and do a shoddy job, the heat alone from the toilets can crack and weaken the tank underground after about 2 years, not to talk of tanks in salty, water logged areas, this will lead to the tank caving in and causing a serious danger to the kids and even adults living in the compound. It is important to note that you have to do this right and as we used to say in engineering ''get it right the first time''
I will update the thread later in the week about how I do septic tanks.

mufutau55:
No, you dont need to plaster the back. There is no way you can plaster the outside. They just need to mix the waterproof cement with regular cement to plaster the inside. Only the part that poo will be going needed to be plaster. The small part where the regular water is going does not need to be plaster inside.
Hope this helps. Thanks.

Sir,
Did you still plaster the soak-away walls in and out after using the waterproof cement?
Am constructing my soak-away presently. Dug the ground and casting inside, so wont be able to plaster the back of the soak-away but would plaster the inside. I would be using this waterproof cement to avoid leakage.
mufutau55:
The above was used for my Soak-away and german floor. I don't know if it can be used for decking.
You can get it anywhere they sell cement... my bricklayer bought it. It's like a cement, it will just be mix with
with the regular cement. it's a small bag... but I am sure they have bigger bag too... Look around.
If your decking is done very well it should not be leaking... if your decking is leaking already then you should
look for some other adhesive to seal the cracks.
That small bag (1kg) above is only N500 per bag and I used 10 bags for the soak-away of about 12ftx10ft.
I can't how many bags we used for the german floor..
