You can assess as ICT customer Officer or ICT technician with trades Australia.

ICT customer Officer is still available on 489 for South Australia for the program year 2018/2019, however, the outcome of your assessment may not be ready until July if you start now, so plan for next program year with these two occupations.
Your HND is enough for assessment and it will give you 10 points
You should be able to get at least 5points for experience of 3yrs or 10points if you can claim 5yrs out of your experience.

Check your age points and what you can get in English

Hello everyone, pls and pls I really need help. I've been following the thread for days now from page 0. I haven't seen where anyone mentioned about Paramilitary or/ related paramilitary personnel jobs.
This is where I will need help; I'm an HND holder in Computer Science and I've been in the paramilitary for 8 years now. I've worked as Officer in a Unit Command for 4 years, taking daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly records and sending them to the appropriate quarters. I'm currently at the Driver's licence Center and I'm incharge of data capturing of applicants.
Pls gurus in the house, help me out as I don't know where to start from.

Flinders University launched a work based assessment program for foreign doctors looking to migrate to South Australia last year. You get to work in regional/rural hospitals South Australia and you will be assessed on the job to get your practice licence.

You may have a look and submit an expression of interest

Good morning house... Thanks to everyone who has contributed in one way or the other to the success of this thread. I wish prospective applicants the very best.

After several hours of reading and researching with the resources on page 0, I've come to the conclusion that getting PR as a medical practitioner particular as a medical doctor is quite cumbersome and expensive.
Getting fully licensed alone is one heck of a journey and I guess it's the reason lots of Nigerian docs are not considering this route.

I'm so disappointed cry

Great response @Alphadoor
@Mo234, When drafting the statutory declaration, ensure your job description is fully aligned with the occupation Anszco description as set out by ACS in order not to loose points.

Alphadoor:

1. A sample reference letter is available on ACS website, I would have shared mine but its old and outdated as it does not meet the ACS latest requirement

Kindly provide dates for these certifications.

You've got quite a wide range of choice for occupation. We need to find an occupation that can give you maximum point for ITA based on the date you met the skilled level for the occupation. Also note that IT occupations are very competitive.

Boss, the job title on my appointment letter and references was Business Analyst but I successfully assessed as ICT project manager.
Based on my personal experience, I'll say the anzco description of the job responsibilities is what is most important in having a positive outcome for the desired occupation and not the job title.

Alphadoor:

I see all opinion says job title doesn't matter but I beg to differ.
From my own experience with ACS, Job title is very important and carries alot of weight.
A 263111 cannot use *desktop * title even though it sounds similar.
Why? A 263111 is an advanced position

Also note there is an anzsco code for *IT * related title
Alternative you can get your company to use included.
Systems Enginner, computer systems engineer. Lead systems enginner,

Also note that your Job Description which is the important must also align with the title and nominated occupation...

Thank you, @DoDirtsLikeWorm

@TRed, This seems another angle to it, what do you think sir? If my PgDip won't count to fetch me additional points from education, can I just assess with HND (gotten 2008) instead and gain more from work experience. Please advise how my score will likely look like with this.

Thanks

Boss, your PgDip will give you 15points, whilst your HND will give you 10points.

You can assess with your HND for occupations on skill level 2, but with a skill level 1 occupation you need a minimum of bachelor's degree to have a positive outcome and that is why I suggested ICT customer so that you can claim maximum point for your degree later with your pgDip when applying and also claim high enough points on experience however you will still need to compare the competition for invitations on any occupation you choose in order to assess your chances.

The occupation you use to get your visa is completely inconsequential to the job you will choose to do when you arrive Aussie.

I thought someone can remove his PGD to claim a Maximum work experience point and put it back while lodging IN for Visa?

I believe i have read something of that nature here but with Masters Degree?

1. Yes sir, it's very much possible but in this case, ICT project manager is a skill level 1 occupation that requires a minimum of bachelor's degree for positive outcome hence, only his PgDip will qualify.

2.If he were to assess for a skill level 2 or 3 occupation like ICT customer or ICT technician, then he will only need his Diploma degree either OND/HND to assess then claim his maximum degree point with his PgDip when filling an EOI through to visa application.

3. The reason I gave in point 1 above was why I asked for dates for his certifications. I am assuming his PMP MAY be used with his HND to qualify for ICT project Manager because ACS asseses other certifications on a case by case basis if he is willing to go for it and prove it.

2. PgDip = 1 year (2 semesters)
3. ICT Content = 83.333% (10/12 courses are IT related)
4. Some are related, but not 100%

(I took the following courses
1 Computer Fundamentals
2 Micro Computing And Www
3 Application Software Design And Multimedia
4 Information Technology And Software Development
5 Introduction To Internet
6 The Good Study Guide
7 Foundation Of Information And Communication Technology
8 Computer Networks
9 Computer Programming
10 Operating System Concepts
11 Operations Research
12 Project
)

Based on the advice, I think a good point is to even start with an English test. If I am able to claim 20-point, I might be better off with ICT PM, otherwise, I will consider IT CS.

Also, can I still claim 5-point from spouse profile?

Thank you.

Great idea boss. Exactly what I did before deciding on my assessment options.

Claiming partner points is dependent on the occupation you eventually choose to assess if it's on the same list as your partner's occupation.

Hello everyone,

Thank you guys for the great job going on here. I have been reading for the past few days

Please, I need advice on what our chances are with below profile.

My profile
1. Age: 36
2. Qualification: Science Laboratory Technology (ND), Physics with Electronics (HND) - 2008, Information Technology (PGD) - 2014
3. Work experience: 8 years IT Project Management, and 2 years IT (IT Project Management from 2 different companies, and IT from 2 other companies as well, one of which was during NYSC)
4. English test: yet to be taken
I am planning to nominate ICT Project Manager (135112), though not available for 189, it's on 190 and 489.

Wife's profile
1. Age: 31
2. Qualification: Science Laboratory technology (ND), Microbiology (HND)
3. Work experience: 2 years in Medical Laboratory
4. English test: yet to be taken

@somto10 , @Shupy, pls help...

Thank you.

Find below requirement to assess with a post graduate degree that do not require an ICT degree for ission:

"A post graduate qualification (Graduate Diploma or Masters) that do not require a Bachelor with an ICT
major for entry into the course, must have:
• A minimum of 3 semesters or at least 1.5 years of full-time study (applies only to Australian post graduate qualifications)
• At least 2 semesters or 1 year of full-time equivalent ICT content
• A minimum of 12 units or subjects (overseas degrees may contain less units or subjects)
• 50% ICT content for a 2 year Graduate Diploma or Masters qualification
• 33% ICT content for a 3 year Graduate Diploma or Masters qualification"

Kindly respond to these questions;

1. What are the dates on your certifications i.e. PMP & ITIL?
2. What is the duration of your PgDip in IT?
3. What is the percentage of ICT content of the Course?
4. Are the course contents related to the anzco units found here -->> http://www.acs.org.au/msa/anzsco-code-information.html ?

A rough estimate of your points assuming your PG degree is not related to ICT project manager below:
Age: 25pts
Education: 15pts:
Experience: 5pts (you will loose 5years; 4years before PgDip graduation and 1year after. You will be left with 3yrs)
English: 20pts
State sponsorship: 10pts
Total: 75pts

Based on the current trend, your best chance of getting a nomination for ICT project manager is South Australia on 489 but the occupation is on high point at the moment.

Since you are open to go for a 489 nomination, I'll suggest you assess with TRA for ICT customer because it is still available on SA's state sponsorship with low points. With that you will be able to claim at least 5 yrs of work experience with your HND completion date. Your possible points will be;

Age: 25pts
Education:15 points (PgDip)
English : 10pts
Experience: 10pts
State sponsorship: 10pts
Total: 70pts

Ibuske:

Thank you very much and sorry for late response.

He's a Database and finished from the University of Ibadan. Thank you.

He will loose points for experience (5-6yrs will be cut off) if he chooses to assess as a database because his first degree is not related to the job.
He definitely needs those points from experience to match the points he has lost to his age bracket.

Here is what I suggest but this is dependent on the risk appetite of your friend and how much he wants to make this move because he should be here making this findings for himself.

He can choose to go assess as ICT technician if he can tailor his job responsibilities for it. He will assess with TRA, and will loose about 3yrs of experience. He may be lucky that TRA recognises NIIT certificate and he will only loose 2yrs.

Then he can claim
Age:15pts
Degree:15pts(using his BSc)
Experience: 10 -15pts
English: 20pts
State sponsorship 489: 10pts (South Australia)
Total : 70/75pts

Get in touch with TRA gurus in the house to help you with the application for assessment. It is very important that you package your application perfectly.

Good evening everyone and thank you all for the swift and helpful response on here.

Please I need someone to be of help to me.
My friend wants to apply for the Australia PR and don't know how to go about it, so I said I will help him put it our here for you all to advice. Thank you.

Age: 40 - 44 years
Qualification: BSc Geography
Professional Cert: NIIT Advance Cert in Information Technology.
Status: Married
Working Experience: 2 years working experience with DPR as a corper, 10 years working experience as Data with the bank till date.
He's been paying his tax since 10 years ago.

Please kindly advice.

Your friend will loose point with experience if he/she assess for ICT occupation because his/her degree is not related and due to his/her age bracket he/she will not be able to compete if he/she eventually gets a positive outcome in skill assessment. ICT occupations are highly competitive.

if your friend's role is data or database .

If data , he/she may be able to assess as records manager with vetassess which is only available for 190 &489 visas. With that he/she should hope for the following points;
Age : 15pts
Degree: 15pts ( if his/her degree is from a tier 1 uni)
Experience: 10pts
English :20points
State sponsorship: 5/10
Total:. 65/70

Note: records manager is a skill level 1 occupation and you can only qualify to assess for this if you attended a tier 1 University or a 5yr course in Nigeria.

I assume you are mixing electrical engineering draftperson up with electrical engineering technician.

Kindly the occupation you want to assess.

Happy New Year! TRed.

Pls, I just need clarification on this, let's say your work experience solemnly is based on your master's degree which wasn't bagged from Nigeria. Can this be assessed from EA or Dublin. Note master from UK.
Happy New year boss!!!

You can assess any "recognised" degree and experience from any country. Recognised degree means the degree has to be accredited by the education authority of such country.

If the occupation you are nominating is an engineering field, you will assess via Engineers Australia (EA).

It doesn't matter if your experience was in Nigeria, and your Degree obtained in UK.

Lastly, if you are below 31yrs and have an Engineering degree from the UK, 476 visa may also be available for you.

Electrical Engineering Draftperson is skilled level 2. You're good to assess with HND.

Bellong, may God bless you for starting this thread. To all the gurus in the house, more power to your elbow.
Gurus, please I need guidance. These are my current details:
Age: 37
Ed: I have an HND in Mechanical Engineering (I graduated in 2009)
Work experience: I completed my ND (Mechanical Engineering) in 2002, and got a job as an engineering technician in a Manufacturing firm since 2004. So, my current working years is 14 years.
I have gone through the list of eligible skilled occupations, and intend to apply as an engineering technologist. I intend to apply under visa subclass 189. Currently, I am married with 3 children. Wifey is 29 years, and is a business woman.

Please, is visa subclass 189 the right one for me?
Is applying as an engineering technologist the right application?
Please give an other advice. Thanks ahead.

Good day boss,

Age : 25pts
Degree: 10pts
Experience: 15pts
English: 20pts (to aim for)

Total: 70pts

Is 189 right for you?
Absolutely

Is the occupation right?
Engineering Technologist is a skilled level 1 occupation, you will need a bachelor's degree to successfully access for any skilled level 1 occupation.
Secondly, Engineering Technologist is quite competitive.

The bright side
You can nominate "Fitter" otherwise known as "plant mechanic" with your degrees and experience in the manufacturing field.
Fitter is much less competitive and gives you the opportunity to go for 189 and 190 or 489 with either Northern Territory or South Australia in case you get 10points for English.

Good day all, please has anyone travelled down to Australia with different flight tickets and/or airline operators that connect in either China or Singapore? Please what was your stop over experience like? Any hassles from immigration, especially when you have to do a self transfer of checked baggage to the connecting flight.

I understand you don't need a visa if you're not leaving the airport, but what of when you need to pick up your checked in luggage from the flight that got you down there from naija and then check it in to the next or last leg of your flights?

Some tickets actually are indicating self-transfer, any better idea of what is meant by these online booking agents?

Thanks all
Boss, did you try IOM for concessional tickets? I assume you're trying to use these multiple airline booking to reduce the airfare.
I am hoping to use them too.

To submit your nomination application to SA, you will need your skills assessment, English test, port details of adult applicants, and work references if you are claiming points for experience.
You will also need to declare how much money you have for migration based on your family composition, no evidence is required though.
