I don't have any serious technical expertise in building but am looking at running a construction company whose specialty will be property development. I need you my respectable and very knowledgeable nairalanders in this section of the forum to please educate and advice me particularly on what professionals I can't do without. This is pertinent since at the onset, I plan to keep my operational costs as low as possible hence I can't go ahead to hire an architech, civil engineer, quantity surveyor, lawyer, ant, etc all at once. |

I had a very heated argument with a beloved friend who doubles as my wife over Ese Walter and her ex-pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo's saga. On the grand assumption that the story as reported by Ese Walter is true, here are my submissions: 1.Both of them being christians and consenting adults erred grossly in putting themselves in a situation where they could not resist the urge of the flesh to sin against God and their bodies. In this they both are in the same boat. 2. I hold the pastor to a higher standard of ability considering that he is not just a pastor but Ese's revered pastor and also that he is married. If he could descend that low, what would we expect from his junior pastors and church ? This is where they begin to differ. 3. Even though what they did was in the past, it is evident that what happened was not some minor misdemeanor between just the two of them but a sin against God, against the pastor's wife, against the church and against their own bodies thus creating a footstool for the devil whom the scriptures describes as the acc of the brethren to operate. Hence the least any christian with a living conscience would have done after securing God's forgiveness was to come clean with their spouse, the church and probably the other person. This is where I find the light and day difference between the two of them. One person has a conscience that is alive, the others conscience is seared and it is to this end that I commend Ese Walter not for her mistakes but for the steps she took in correcting the mistakes of her past. For Ese, I can only hope JESUS has become lord indeed and lord of all. On the other hand, I call on the pastor not to further complicate his life by means of cover-ups. Always that that was what led David to murder Uraiah after he slept with his wife Bethsheba. Tell the truth and seek your wife's and the church's forgiveness. Trust me, If you handle this well, five years down the line, you will look back and thank God. Christianity is afterall not a religion of people who don't fall. We get knocked down, but we don't give up. We get up and stay at it. 2 cor 4:8-9. Am praying for you pastor. 2 Likes 1 Share |

I have been combing the net trying to find information on whether or not limited liability companies operating in the agriculture sector of the economy are required to pay taxes on thier income. If yes at what rate? Thanks |

I can't claim 1st hand info but someone made me believe it is easier to get a corporate business loan from Diamond bank than from others. Also a few big businesses I know route most of thier payments through Diamond bank which makes me view them as corporation oriented. Lastly, the few times I have used thier services, I have found thier staff to be civil and polite. I can't say that about most other banks including my own bankers. |

reason deals with rational thinking, logical soundness, sensory perception and is altogether physical. Faith on the other hand is spiritual. It is what connects the physical to the spiritual. It is not a function of any physical sensory perception. It is actually the evidence of what physical sense cognition could not percieve. To that extent, faith and reason are incompatible. 1 Like |

^ I have no need of concealing an obvious harmless truth. I actually read, copied and pasted. As for making the write-up appealing to the eyes, I couldn't have done more than I did with the phone I was using. Now talking about famous modern scientists, you should know that even among the league of Scientists I quoted, there were some who differed in opinion. What's more? God does not actually rely on science or scientists to validate his existence. I only did the compilation to help some in your league who might not have condemned themselves to eternal damnation as yet to be proded to reevaluate their convictions and accept the mercy of God. Thank you. 2 Likes |

Delafruita: aristotle believed in God?that's a first.if you say zeus,i might be inclined to agree but am guessing your aim is to align aristotle's words with yahwehFrom reading Aristotle's writings as quoted, it is pretty obvious he like the people of Athens concerning whom paul the apostle wrote; “It is plain to see that you Athenians take your religion seriously. When I arrived here the other day, I was fascinated with all the shrines I came across. And then I found one inscribed, TO THE GOD NOBODY KNOWS. I’m here to introduce you to this God so you can worship intelligently, know who you’re dealing with." Acts 17:22-23(MSG) It is safe to infer that he sure believed in God even though he did not know him. |

1. Aristotle(384-322BC). His writings cover many subjects, including physics , metaphysics, poetry , theater , music, logic , rhetoric, linguistics, politics , government , ethics, biology , and zoology. Aristotle believed that all movement depends on there being a prime mover. For Aristotle, movement meant more than something travelling from A to B. Movement also included change, growth, melting, cooling, heating…etc. Just like his predecessor Heraclitus, Aristotle recognised that everything in the world is in a state of flux. Aristotle argued that behind every movement there must be a chain of events that brought about the movement that we see taking place. Aristotle argued that this chain of events must lead back to something which moves but is itself unmoved. This is referred to as the Prime Mover. In Aristotle’s view change is eternal. There cannot have been a first change, because something would have to have happened just before that change which set it off, and this itself would have been a change, and so on. In his book Metaphysics (literally after physics), Aristotle calls this source of all movement the Prime Mover. The Prime Mover to Aristotle is the first of all substances, the necessary first sources of movement which is itself unmoved. It is a being with everlasting life, and in Metaphysics Aristotle also calls this being ‘God’. |

2. Sir Isaac Newton 1642-1727 English mathematician & physicist, one of the greatest scientists of all time. Laws of gravitation and motion, developed calculus. Major contributions to optics, physics, math and astronomy. He are some of his quotes on God; "The solar system itself could not have been produced by blind chance or fortuitous causes but only by a cause very well skilled in mechanics and geometry." "There are more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history." "No sciences are better attested to than the science of the Bible." "This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being.... This Being governs all things, not as the soul of the world, but as Lord over all; and on of his dominion he is wont to be called Lord God." Isaac Newton; Principles. "It must be expressed in the very form of sound words in which it was delivered by the apostles. For men are apt to run into partings about deductions. All the old heresies lie in deductions. The true faith was in the Biblical texts." |

3. Galileo Galilei (Italian pronunciation: [ɡaliˈlɛːo ɡaliˈlɛi] ; 15 February 1564 – 8 January 1642), was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who played a major role in the Scientific Revolution . His achievements include improvements to the telescope and consequent astronomical observations and for Copernicanism. Galileo has been called the "father of modern observational astronomy ", the "father of modern physics ", the "father of science", and "the Father of Modern Science". His contributions to observational astronomy include the telescopic confirmation of the phases of Venus , the discovery of the four largest satellites of Jupiter (named the Galilean moons in his honour), and the observation and analysis of sunspots . Galileo also worked in applied science and technology, inventing an improved military com and other instruments. Read some of the things he wrote in relation to God. "I render infinite thanks to God, for being so kind as to make me alone the first observer of marvels kept hidden in obscurity for all previous centuries.” “…the Holy Scriptures cannot err and the decrees therein contained are absolutely true and inviolable. I should have added that, though scripture cannot err its expounders and interpreters are liable to err in many ways …when they base themselves always on literal meaning of the words." |

4. Sir Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity , one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics ). While best known for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation" ![]() the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect ". The latter was pivotal in establishing quantum theory . Peep through these window of his opinions into his mind; "In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the of such views." "I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangements of the books, but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God." |

5.Nicholas Copernicus(1473-1543) He theorized that the Sun was the fixed point around which the motions of the planets takes place. The Earth rotates around its axis once in a day and slow alterations in the direction of this axis cause the precession of the equinoxes. Hear him as it relates to God; “To know the mighty works of God, to comprehend His wisdom and majesty and power, to appreciate, in degree, the wonderful working of His laws, surely all this must be a pleasing and acceptable mode of worship to the Most High, to whom ignorance cannot be more gratifying than knowledge.” (Copernicus, as cited in Neff 1952, 191-192; and in Hubbard 1905, v). 2. “Not the Grace received by Paul do I desire, Nor the good will with which Thou forgavest Peter, Only that which Thou didst grant the thief on the cross, That mercy I ask of Thee.” (Copernicus, as cited in Trepatschko 1994, Vol. 44). 3. In his revolutionary work De revolutionibus orbium caelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres, 1543), Copernicus wrote: “For who, after applying himself to things which he sees established in the best order and directed by Divine ruling, would not through diligent contemplation of them and through a certain habituation be awakened to that which is best and would not ire the Artificer of all things, in Whom is all happiness and every good? For the divine Psalmist surely did not say gratuitously that he took pleasure in the workings of God and rejoiced in the works of His hands." |

6. Robert Boyle (1627 - 1691) The Boyle's law describes the inversely proportional relationship between absolute pressure and volume of a gas, that is, if the temperature is constantly maintained in a closed system. In "The Excellency of Theology, Compared with Natural Philosophy" (1674, written 1665), he noted, "The vastness, beauty, orderliness of heavenly bodies; the excellent structure of animals and plants; and other phenomena of nature justly induce an intelligent, unprejudiced observer to conclude a supreme, powerful, just, and good author." "The furnace of affliction refines us from earthly drossiness, and softens us for the impression of God’s own stamp." "The joys of heaven are like the stars, which by reason of our remoteness appear extremely little." |

7. Louis Pasteur (Dec. 27, 1822-Sept. 28, 1895) was a French chemist and microbiologist. He is most famous for inventing the process that keeps milk from going sour, which is now known, in his honor, as pasteurization. He also performed experiments that confirmed the germ theory of disease, created the first rabies, anthrax and chicken cholera vaccines, was a founder of bacteriology and made numerous discoveries in chemistry. Pasteur described on a scientific basis the process of fermentation, wine- making, and the brewing of beer. "He debunked the widely accepted myth of spontaneous generation , thereby setting the stage for modern biology and biochemistry ." Pasteur was also the Dean of the faculty of sciences at Lille University. He founded on June 4, 1887 the Pasteur Institute , a French non-profit private foundation dedicated to the study of biology, a forefront of the battle against infectious disease. He had these to say; "A bit of science distances one from God, but much science nears one to Him. The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator." |

9. Lord Kelvin 1824-1907 (William Thomson) British physicist; helped lay the foundations of thermodynamics. First and second laws of thermodynamics. Absolute temp scale. Trans-Atlantic cable. Read him: "I believe that the more thoroughly science is studied, the further does it take us from anything comparable to atheism." Do not be afraid to be free thinkers. If you think strongly enough, you will be forced by science to the belief in God. 8. C.F.Gauss One of the greatest mathematicians of all time. Contributed significantly to pure mathematic and made practical applications of importance for 20th- century astronomy, geodesy, and electromagnetism. He had these to say: "There are problems to whose solution I would attach an infinitely greater importance than to those of mathematics, for example touching ethics, or our relation to God, or concerning our destiny and our future; but their solution lies wholly beyond us and completely outside the province of science." |

10. Blaise Pascal : 1623-1662 French mathematician & physicist. Father of the mathematical theory of probability and combinatorial analysis and provided the essential link between the mechanics of fluids and the mechanics of rigid bodies. He has these to say; "There is a God-shaped vacuum in every heart" " We know the truth not only through our reason but also through our heart. … For knowledge of first principles, like space, time, motion, number, is as solid as any derived through reason, and it is on such knowledge, coming from the heart and instinct, that reason has to depend and base all its argument. … It is just as pointless and absurd for reason to demand proof of first principles from the heart before agreeing to accept them as it would be absurd for the heart to demand an intuition of all the propositions demonstrated by reason before agreeing to accept them. Our inability must therefore serve only to humble reason, which would like to be the judge of everything, but not to confute our certainty. As if reason were the only way we could learn! (Pensees , p 28-29) For a religion to be true it must have known our nature; it must have known its greatness and smallness, and the reason for both. What other religion but Christianity has known this? (Pensees , p 69) |

As I encountered and interacted with free thinkers and atheists amongst others, I found that a large percentage of them based their convictions on Science's inability to proove the existence of God. Find here collated 10 of some of the most outstanding scientists of all times with varied, ground breaking and essential contributions to the field of science and the entire body of modern knowledge as we now have it and what they each had to say about God. |

miketonic: I think your post is bias..because it reeks of Christianity perspective . Not everyone in here is Christian or catholic. Some are Muslim, Jewish,Hindu, or etc. I disagree on number 10.
