Sometime in 2024 I argued that Nigerians should focus on cutting down inflation rate Instead of demanding increment in minimum wage. Our problem is inflation, and historically we experience increased inflation rate on every increase in minimum wage.

Oshey PDP's unofficial spokesman . But the same South East caucus who nominated Anyanwu replaced him with Ude Okoye. Why is he desperate to be in position? PDP governors asked him to go, BOT asked him to go, NWC asked him to go, yet he refuses and continues fighting. Is he bigger than the party?
This is why we say people should always read the rules of the game.
Only the National Convention can hire or fire a National Officer. No other organ, not even the National Executive Committee has such power. The BOT is an advisory organ without any implementing authority. Zonal organs CANNOT fire or hire any National Officer. PDP Governors Forum is a peer group that isn't even recognized by the PDP Constitution. Their opinion is as effective as the sound of "P" in psychology.
bolaayenimo:
I agree with the writer. The position of national chairman was microzoned to North Central, not entire North
Micro zoned to Northcentral by which organ? One reason Anyanwu keep defeating his opponents is that he follows the law while other acts in nzogbu nzogbu manner.

Too many misinformation in the article.
1. Senator Samuel Anyanwu did not "leave" the position of National Secretary to run for governorship. He applied for leave, which was granted to him. His decision is consistent with the provisions of PDP Constitution.
2. Anyanwu's decision is not even different from that of Mala Buni, then APC National Secretary who took obtained leave to run for Governor of Yobe state in 2019, returned to his office after his victory and resigned on May 28, 2019, on the eve of his inauguration. A similar situation was that of Victor Giadom, the Deputy to Buni, who obtained leave when he was nominated Deputy Governorship candidate of APC in Rivers 2019, but returned to office after his unsuccessful run. What about Omoyele Sowore that ran as Presidential candidate of AAC in 2019 and 2023 while still holding his position as National Chairman? What about Sani Yabagi, who like Sowore, has been ADP National Chairman while running as Presidential candidate in 2019 and 2023?
What is so special about Anyanwu? Did he break the law?
3. Anyanwu did not approach Enugu High Court for redress, it was one Emmanuel Aniagwu, as proxy of Governor Peter Mbah that obtained the now nullified judgement from Enugu High Court, which was upheld by the Court of Appeal, but overturned by the Supreme Court. Anyanwu only approached the Federal High Court Abuja where he won and his victory wasn't challenged.
4. The position of National Chairman of PDP was zoned to the NORTH not Northcentral. Moreover, PDP Constitution stipulates that when there is vacancy the Deputy National Chairman from the area of the outgone Chairman should take over in Acting capacity. The Northcentral has no claim to the position, and Umar Damagum is the rightful occupant.
5. Bukola Saraki is not interested in becoming the National Chairman, he wants to be the President of Nigeria.

While reviewing the communique from the National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party held on May 27, 2025, my attention was drawn to Resolution Nine, which stated:
"NEC also received the Resolution of the South East Zonal Executive regarding the issue of the National Secretary of our Party. NEC resolved to consider the resolution of the South East Zonal Executive at the next NEC meeting scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025."
Although I believe the party's esteemed leaders acted in good faith when adopting this resolution, I feel compelled to highlight concerns about the purported meeting and resolution of the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee on the issue of the National Secretaryship. This is to prevent the party from sliding into problems, especially as the benefits of ongoing reforms are beginning to materialize.
Firstly, Article 47(6) of the PDP Constitution stipulates that a replacement for any position in an executive committee can only occur when there is a vacancy. Currently, the position of National Secretary is not vacant. Therefore, it is procedurally and legally flawed for anyone to discuss a replacement. The Southeast Zonal Executive Committee, even if properly constituted, cannot lawfully nominate a replacement for the non-vacant position of National Secretary, which is lawfully occupied by Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu. Similarly, the National Executive Committee lacks the authority to consider any resolution from the Southeast zone or any other zone for replacing a non-vacant position. The NEC also cannot lawfully demand the replacement of a position that is not vacant under the PDP Constitution.
Secondly, Article 33(5)(b) grants only the National Convention the power to elect or remove any National Officer of the party. As previously noted, the NEC is only authorized to appoint a replacement for a vacant position in accordance with the party’s constitution. No organ, including the NEC, is empowered to order the removal of a party officer. The constitution further specifies that a vote of confidence may be called on an officer during a midterm National Convention, not at an NEC meeting. Thus, it is illegal and constitutionally flawed for a properly constituted Zonal Executive Committee to resolve to change a national officer from the zone. The purported resolution of the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee on replacing the National Secretary violates the PDP Constitution, usurps the powers of the National Convention, and is a nullity that should not be discussed in any party forum.
Thirdly, the position of National Secretary was zoned to the South, not specifically the Southeast, by a resolution of a properly constituted NEC meeting held on September 30, 2021. At that meeting, the National Chairmanship was zoned to the North, and the Secretaryship to the South. The fact that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, elected at a properly constituted National Convention on October 30-31, 2021, hails from the Southeast does not alter this legal fact. Therefore, the Southeast has no legitimate claim to this position.
Fourthly, Article 27(1) of the PDP Constitution designates the National Vice Chairman from the zone as the Chairman of the Zonal Executive Committee meeting, while Article 27(3) states that a Zonal Executive Committee meeting shall be convened at the instance of the National Vice Chairman from the zone. However, the purported meeting held in Enugu on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, was convened by Ali Odefa, who was expelled from the party after all steps outlined in Article 57 of the PDP Constitution were followed. His expulsion was upheld by a February 2025 ruling of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki in suit number FHC/AI/CS/182/2024. Furthermore, this same Odefa chaired the purported Enugu meeting. Based on these facts, the Enugu meeting violated Articles 27(1) and 27(3) of the PDP Constitution and cannot be considered a legitimate meeting of the Southeast PDP Zonal Executive Committee.
Therefore, it would constitute a constitutional breach and gross illegality for the NEC to consider the resolution from this unrecognized gathering in Enugu at its next session.
In light of the above, I draw attention to Article 2 of the PDP Constitution, which states that, subject to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and any other law in force, the party’s constitution is supreme, and its provisions shall have binding force on all and organs of the party.

In the timeless words of the great American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, "A man is not strong until he can look a fact in the face."
Tuesday, May 27, 2025, will remain etched in the memory of the Peoples Democratic Party as the day the rule of law prevailed over the might of a few, and every party leader confronted the reality of the PDP National Secretary position.
Prior to this day, a committee, appointed by an expanded PDP Governors Forum on May 11 and chaired by the esteemed former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, thoroughly examined the provisions of the PDP Constitution, Nigeria’s Electoral Act, and a Supreme Court ruling of March 21, 2025. The committee concluded that Senator Samuel Anyanwu legitimately holds the position of National Secretary, which was never vacant.
The National Caucus meeting, which began on Monday and continued into Tuesday, provided the party’s expanded leadership an opportunity to review and deliberate on the Saraki committee’s findings.
The Caucus also evaluated a report from another committee, led by Governor Agbu Kefas, with Governors Lawal Daudau and Peter Mbah, an opponent of Senator Anyanwu, as , alongside the PDP National Legal Adviser, Ajibade Kamaldeen SAN, as a coopted member. This committee’s task was to confirm who the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized as the legitimate National Secretary. INEC promptly affirmed Senator Anyanwu’s legitimacy, emphasizing that his removal would require due process as outlined in the Electoral Act and PDP Constitution.
During the Caucus meeting, both reports were adopted, and all faced the undeniable facts. This stance aligns with the majority of party who have consistently maintained that the National Secretary position has not been vacant since December 10, 2021, and will remain occupied until December 9, 2025.
With this reality affirmed at the National Executive Committee meeting held that same Tuesday, the contention over Senator Anyanwu’s role as National Secretary should finally be laid to rest. His opponents should accept the facts and demonstrate strength, enabling the party to move forward.
It would be remiss not to express gratitude to the visionary Acting National Chairman Amb. Umar Damagum, who remained steadfast in upholding the rule of law and constitutional principles amid the turmoil. Appreciation is also due to the charismatic Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, whose committee tackled the issue with unwavering clarity. To the amiable Senator Anyanwu, who showed maturity and patriotism despite unfair scrutiny, yet stood firm for justice without destabilizing the party. Above all, I commend the party who upheld the rule of law and constitutional integrity, safeguarding the PDP from potential challenges in future elections.

On a scorching Wednesday in the wild savanna, Chief Pumbaa Mbah, the Governor of the Enugu Plains, strutted into the Animal Government Grove with a posse of critters who looked more confused than a zebra in a leopards den. Pumbaa, a warthog with a swagger bigger than his tusks, called this chaotic crew the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee of the Prancing Deer Party, or PDP for short. They held a so-called interactive session that was more like a circus than a meeting, and oh boy, did they stir up some resolutions!
First off, this sneaky gathering decided to nominate Mr. SKE Udeh-Okoye, a sly fox, as the National Secretary of the PDP, a position that was not even up for grabs at the National Watering Hole HQ. They claimed their authority came from a shady meeting of the PDP Governors Pack in the Ibadan Oasis, where the big-shot lions had roared about swapping out the National Secretary without following the sacred Animal Constitution. To top it off, they twisted a recent Supreme Court of the Savanna ruling like a giraffe trying to tie a knot with its neck. As their grand finale, they growled a threat: “Either the PDP falls in line, or we’ll stampede right out of the herd!”
The Animal Constitution, etched on the Great Baobab Tree, states clearly that only the National Vice Chairman of a zone, who also chairs the Zonal Executive Committee, can call such a meeting. But Pumbaa, who’s about as qualified to lead a meeting as a sloth is to run a marathon, took charge instead. And guess who he picked to chair the session? Chief Ali Odefa, a once-proud cheetah who got kicked out of the PDP a few months back for trying to steal the lions share of the watering hole.
Odefa's expulsion was stamped by the Federal High Court of the Abakaliki Plains earlier this year, which roared that Odefa, having lost his PDP hip, couldn’t parade around as National Vice Chairman anymore. This ruling echoed an earlier decision by the Savanna Court of Appeal in the case of Adams Oshiomole, a bear who got suspended and was told to stop acting like the Big Boss of the All Pouncing Cats party. Yet, there was Odefa, strutting like he owned the eastern side of the savanna, chairing Pumbaa’s meeting!
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ruling Pumbaa’s crew tried to twist had declared that all animal parties must follow their own constitutions. It tossed out the rulings of the Enugu Plains High Court and the Court of Appeal, which had sided with Pumbaa’s gang in claiming that Samuel Anyanwu, better known across the savanna as Sam Daddy, the wise old owl with a hoot that could charm a snake, lost his National Secretary spot the moment he ran for Governor of the Imo Burrows a couple of years ago. Those lower courts had chirped about moral grounds, ignoring the PDP Constitution and the PDP Sacred Electoral Guidelines that said otherwise. The Governors Pack in the Asaba Delta Territory had even backed Pumbaa’s argument earlier this year, but the Supreme Court swooped in, declared Sam Daddy’s appeals valid, and nullified the whole mess.
Sam Daddy, perched high on his favorite acacia branch, fluffed his feathers in triumph when he heard the ruling. “Hoo hoo! They can’t mess with Sam Daddy!” he hooted, his nickname echoing through the savanna. Every critter knew Sam Daddy wasn’t just any owl—he was the coolest fatherly figure in the PDP, always looking out for the little guys like the meerkats and mongooses. His nickname had been earned after years of mentoring young animals, teaching them how to navigate the wild politics of the savanna with wisdom and a wink.
But the savanna’s true beacon of order was Ambassador Umar Damagum, a majestic elephant who serves as the Acting National Chairman of the PDP. Known as the Trunk of Truth, Damagum is a stickler for the law, his trunk always pointed firmly at the Constitution etched on the Baobab Tree. He’d faced his own battle not long ago, back in the dry season of last year, when a pack of scheming hyenas tried to unseat him from his leadership role.
They’d howled that Damagum was not from the central north of the Savanna, and needed to be replaced with someone who’d let them run wild. But Damagum, with his sharp tusks and sharper mind, outsmarted them all. He trumpeted the Constitution’s rules loud and clear, proving that their challenge was as unlawful as a lion trying to the antelope club. The Savanna High Court backed him up, and the hyenas slunk away with their tails between their legs, muttering about their next scheme.
“The Constitution is our guide, and I’ll not let any warthog trample it!” Damagum had long been respected for his unwavering commitment to fairness, ensuring every animal, from the tiniest shrew to the tallest giraffe, followed the rules.
Instead of bowing to the Court’s wisdom, Pumbaa and his posse decided to replay their old tricks, which the Supreme Court had already squashed. They tried to renominate Udeh-Okoye for the same non-vacant National Secretary spot, basically ignoring the Court’s ruling like a monkey ignoring a Do Not Climb sign on a tree. “We’ll take Sam Daddy’s perch if it’s the last thing we do!” Pumbaa snorted, his tusks glinting with mischief.
Knowing their plan was as shaky as a flamingo on one leg, they resorted to threats: “Let us have our way, or we’re outta here!” But would the savanna even notice if they left? Would the skies fall if a few warthogs and foxes stormed off? Sam Daddy, sipping nectar from a flower, just chuckled.
The PDP Constitution is crystal clear, like a watering hole on a calm day, about how the party should be run. Every animal and group has their role, and nobody gets to overstep. Only the National Convention, a massive gathering of all creatures, can appoint or remove a National Officer. Zonal, territory, local, and burrow meetings handle their own leaders. So, a zonal group trying to appoint a National Officer? That’s like a meerkat trying to tell an elephant how to trumpet! The Constitution even has a backup plan: if a National Officer spot opens up, only the National Executive Committee can call for a nomination. Not the National Working Committee, and definitely not a Zonal Executive Committee.
It’s a real shame some animals, like Pumbaa, think being a Governor gives them the right to trample over the Constitution like a rhino in a flower patch. They’ve got this wild idea that their growl is louder than the law of the land!
So, here’s the deal for Pumbaa Mbah and his mischievous crew: it’s time to tuck their egos under their tails and follow the rules. If they keep up their antics, the National Executive Committee meeting later this month will swat their demands away like a lion swatting a fly.
And if they decide to leave the PDP as they’ve threatened? Well, the savanna will wave them off with a cheerful “Good riddance!” while Sam Daddy keeps hooting his wisdom from the treetops, and Damagum stands tall, ensuring the Constitution remains the law of the land, proving once again why he’s the Trunk of Truth.

ACN -> APC is not defection! It's the product of a marriage as the previous party automatically becomes defunct while the successor party inherits everything about the former.
In otherwords, Tinubu moved once, AD to AC. ACN and APC are products of mergers.
Buhari moved once, ANPP to C.
