The Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) has continued in their allegations against former President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan insisting he is the grand patron of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), threatening to show more evidence linking him with the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).

The splinter group of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), in a statement issued and was forwarded to nextnewslive.com gave more revealing insight stating NDA was gave birth with dethroning the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) as its primary aim and taking full operations to destabilize the Niger Delta region and said it was never surprised at the quick response from Goodluck Jonathan absolving self from the NDA.

The group is a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Cynthia Whyte said:

“It therefore did not come to the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) as a surprise that the Grand Patron of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has distanced himself from the NDA.

“To cut a long story short, NDA was formed to counter MEND but failed. The statement, however, said that the RNDA is not surprised that the alleged grand patron of the NDA, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has distanced himself from the NDA.

“It therefore did not come to the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) as a surprise that the Grand Patron of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has distanced himself from the NDA.

“Like every sponsor, sympathizer and operative earlier mentioned who has equally denied links with the Avengers, we can understand the wisdom behind their decision; as their participation was always meant to be covert.

“After a clandestine meeting in Otuoke, Bayelsa state in 2014 between the Grand Patron and several unidentified persons ahead of the Presidential election campaign of 2015, it was agreed that the Okah brothers should be ed to reach out to the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to endorse former President Goodluck Jonathan, and work with the group of persons to ensure victory for the PDP and President Jonathan.

“At the time, because MEND was the suggested tool, the NDA as a body was not yet formed.

“Mr Kingsley Kuku and Mr. Gordon Obuah, SA on Niger Delta and Chief Security Officer to President Jonathan, respectively were selected to visit Charles

Okah in Kuje prison. Mr Daniel Alabrah was given the assignment to draft an endorsement statement for Charles Okah to go through and on to MEND.

“The duo reported back that they had visited Okah in Kuje prison at night with the promise of his release along with others should he cooperate to get MEND to endorse Jonathan.

“It therefore came as a shock when MEND did the opposite and endorsed Buhari. Mr. Jonathan was livid with anger and swore that the Okah’s would rot in prison.

“It was also agreed that a show of force be put up in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state where ex-militants led by Government Ekpemupolo and Kingsley Kuku would threaten war should the electorate vote in Buhari’s favour.

“It was around that period the idea of forming..............http://nextnewslive.com/reformed-niger-delta-avengers-accuses-gej-more-new-secrets-revealed/

State Government Condemns Attack on Soldiers

….. Commiserates With Military Authorities.

Addressing the people of Nembe at the King Koko Square, Nembe Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, noted that the killing of the innocent soldiers was senseless, barbaric and not in the best interest of the Government and people of the State, especially the peace loving people of Nembe.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deuty, Retired Rear iral Gboribiogha John Jonah, described the incident as mos painful and unfortunate, pointing out that, a similar one occurred in July, last year, where soldiers were attacked at the same security check-point in Nembe, resulting in deaths.

While urging of the community, who have fled to return home, he called on youths and other stakeholders to collaborate with the military authorities, in order to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book, he also pleaded with the clergy to continue to pray for lasting peace in the community.

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has said yesterday that, it was confident the prices of crude oil would rise by next month as against the current low prices at the International market.

The OPEC’s President, Mohammad Al-Sada, predicted that the rise would be as a result of projected higher demand ahead of the winter season in the northern hemisphere, among others. Recall that the prices of crude oil at the international market have been heaving between $30 and $50 per barrel. Al-Sada said prices had experienced a steady improvement since February 2016, following a decline in production of crude oil supply outages and a decrease in oil inventories, while the global demand for oil improved in that period.

OPEC basket price as at Monday August 8, stood at $40.08 a barrel, compared with $39.60 recorded on last week, while Brent crude opened around $42.

Al-Sada, who is the also Qatar’s minister of energy and industry, noted that more investment was needed not only to meet the growth in demand but also to stem the natural decline of oil production from operating wells.

“The recent decline observed in oil prices and the current market volatility is only temporary. These are more of an outcome resulting from weaker refinery margins, inventory overhang, particularly of product stocks, timing of Brexit and its impact on the financial futures markets, including that of crude oil.

“Economies of major oil consuming countries are expected...........http://nextnewslive.com/opec-predicts-oil-prices-to-rise-next-month/

Recent happenings in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, particularly, the South South has raised a cause of concern as to the viability and workability of the political Institutions of those states. The greatest threat to the survivability of the region presently is the emergence of the Niger Delta Avengers, a group many see as coming out straight from Hell.

The Niger Delta Avengers started as a kindergarten local militia which many saw and treated with kid gloves, they made several demands which was anchored on some sense(less)(ible) demand from the Federal Government, and from their body language which was unusually calm, sent a very weak signal to the Federal Government even including the citizens that they are just some hunger-driven fellows who will be effortlessly crushed by the Federal might. However, the reverse has turned out to be the case as the group has surprisingly and increasingly lived up to their threat. The consistent destruction of the oil facilities in the region has taken the Federal Government by surprise. The Avenger’s vengeful way of repelling the t force sent to the zone to quell the crisis is a sure fact that the group will not seize their pipeline bombardment soon.

It is most worrisome and perhaps, curious, that in spite of threat to security of lives and property in the region, the Governors of South South who are also the Chief Security Officer’s of their respective States are extraordinarily silent, as if there is a general peace and tranquility in the area. I have always been against the vandalization of oil facilities and unrest in the Niger Delta region by whatever guise, whether as a message against environmental pollution and degradation or against marginalization of it’s citizens, but it is always a curious thing to discover that, the Chief Executive Officers of this region are unusually calm and silent over the sad situation. One wonders the problem of the South South leaders when it occurs to him that this is not the first time the South South is experiencing this type of situation.

Some time in mid-1980’s, the minorities were left in the equation of governance and control in Nigeria, from whose land much of the resources are exploited. In a country were there is no environmental protection, the oil companies continue to operate insensitively, often times, leaving the people with a complete devastated environment. It is even more pathetic seeing the people in a pristine conditions such as existed hundred years ago yet billions of dollars worth of oil were being carted away from beneath their mud houses that have neither pipe-borne water nor electricity. It is not uncommon to see children in an oil rich community with kwashiorkor as a consequence of severe malnutrition. Tam David-West from a minority state was a Petroleum Minister under Babaginda. According to Tom Mbeke Ekanem in his book “Beyond the Execution”, he uncovered a massive fraud with tentacles all the way to the top, and when he questioned this, not only was he relieves of his post, he was sent to jail on frivolous charges. For Tam, as a principled individual, he did not have to toe the line and be a ‘yes-man’ like a slave.

Again, after years of unanswered demands and protest against exploitation of their land by the oil companies and the Nigerian Government, in 1990, the Ogoni people decided to formally organize themselves into a powerful bargaining group. They issued series of demands in the form of Bill of Rights to the Nigerian government, adopted and signed by the representatives of the six clan, Ken Saro Wiwa though the initiator of the Bill of Rights, had no portfolio, but was just one of the six signatories representing Ken Khana. To carry out the aims and objectives of the Ogoni Bill of Rights an organization known as the “Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People” was formed. It’s first President was Garrick Barilee Leton. Ogoni had in 1993 gathered more men and women for a celebration of what is called “The Year of Indigenous People” were Saro-Wiwa, the ever energetic Speaker said “in recovering the money that has been stolen from us, I do not want any blood spilt; not of the Ogoni man and not of any stranger among us.” However, Ken was later framed by the Federal Government as causing the attack of some elders, like Alhaji Kobain, Baday and so on. He was charged with murder of four men, alongside other Ogoni activists. One of the things that inspired me about is his doggedness and unwavering belief in the trueness and rightness of his cause. In one of his trials, he adapted one of the famous English writer William Blake: “I will not cease from mental fight, nor shall my pen sleep in my hand till we have built a new Ogoni in Niger Delta wealthy land.” The defence team for Saro Wiwa and other accused, led by the late Chief Gani Fawehimi made several unsuccessful submissions that their client have no case to answer. He was nevertheless sentenced to death by hanging. But before he departed, he said: “I call upon Ogoni People, the people of Niger Delta and the oppressed ethnic minorities to stand up and fight fearlessly and peacefully for their rights.”

It may perhaps be said that his Excellency, Architect (Obong) Victor Attah heeded this advice, when in 2002, he dragged the Obasanjo led Federal Government to court to review the hitherto derivation principle which was also a continuation of the marginalization of the minority. Attah’s vision for Nigeria has placed him as one of the foremost National patriots. Obong Attah’s conception of the Resource Control issue, as he has rightly explained to other Nigerians at many fora has been to seek more creativity, Indigenous participation and control of the commanding height of the national economy, better economic opportunities and local resourcefulness. As Chairman of Governors forum, Obong Attah used the forum as a check to the Federal Government, and was successful in forging the unity of the South South through the Governors of their respective states. Little wonder they were able to contend with the all powerful Obasanjo-led Federal Government. Attah won so many international accolades for his role in Governance and Resource Control including international Award for Honour in Leadership role in Governance and Resource Control from the Nigerian family Association is Sweden.

In the same vein, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, in his days as the Governor of Rivers state, took over from where Obong Attah stopped. He challenged the Jonathan-led Federal Government on the use and appropriation of the excess crude money, which ultimately created a very wide abyss of enmity between him and the Federal Government. In his days as the Chairman, Nigeria’s Governors Forum, he checked the powers of the Federal Government using the forum, this led to his clampdown on virtually all his political life as the Governor, but he said something, that is what matters.

The activities of these brave men show that every so often, the voice of the dissent could be heard from afar and near among the oppressed minorities.

It is rather unfortunate that there is a dearth of these calibre of men today in the South South. This is even more ostentatious that we now have the likes of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state taking up the responsibility of the South South Governors. Lambasting and lampooning the Federal Government for their insensitivity towards the plight of the Niger Delta Region, a ..............http://nextnewslive.com/the-niger-delta-havoc-and-the-south-south-governors-a-conspiracy-of-silence/

NIGERIA —–President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Comrade Udengs Eradiri has today denied having any link whatsoever with the dreaded Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) bedeviling Southern part of the country.

Udengs in a press statement issued earlier reacted to allegations made against him and other notable leaders from the region by Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), a splinter group of the Niger Delta Avengers.

Udengs stated, he is the President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), the largest youth organization in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria and not Spokesman of the Niger Delta Avengers and has resolved that, no amount of desperation and blackmail would stop him from stating the position of the Ijaw people as far issues affecting the Niger Delta region are concernand.

The youth leaders further clarified that, the purported listing of his name as spokesman of the Niger Delta Avengers with code name, Brig. Gen. Mudoch Aginibo is laughable and promoted by the Aaron 11 MEND negotiating with the federal government.

Comrade Udengs stressed that, the hate against him was simply because it was made clear in his recent interviews that MEND Aaron 11 team does have the mandate of the Ijaw and other Niger Delta people to negotiate with the federal government.

“My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly issued by a splinter group of the Niger Delta Avengers in which several Niger Deltans were mentioned as sponsors and operatives of the Niger Delta Avengers including my humble self as the Spokesman of the Niger Delta Avengers who go by the name Brig. Gen. Mudoch Aginibo. I would have ordinarily ignored the said statement as it is laughable and nonsensical on the face of it. However, for the purpose of records, I wish to state as follows:

“I have no business whatsoever with the Niger Delta Avengers. I am the President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), the largest youth organization in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria and not Spokesman of the Niger Delta Avengers.

“Since the splinter group of the Niger Delta Avengers said they have broken away and repented from their old ways, I call on them to come out in open and identify themselves openly instead of still using pseudo names such as Cynthia Whyte to issue statements.

“Any discerning mind would know that the said statement purportedly naming sponsors of Avengers was issued by the promoters of the Aaron 11 MEND negotiation with the federal government. Their grouse against me is because I said in my recent interviews that MEND Aaron 11 team does have the mandate of the Ijaw and other Niger Delta people to negotiate with the federal government. They are desperate because of the lack of credibility in what they are doing.

“I wish to state that no amount of desperation and blackmail would stop me from stating the position of the Ijaw people as far issues affecting the Niger Delta region are concern. I was elected to promote and protect the interest of the Ijaw and Niger Delta people and not the selfish and personal interest of a few.

“I also want to put on record the consistent threat to my life by the promoters of the Aaron 11 MEND negotiation with the federal government. They have been consistently saying that they would deal with me. The security agencies especially the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Director General of the State Security Services (SSS) already know them since they claimed to be negotiating with the government and should take note and appropriate actions on this threat.” Said Udengs

Recall, nextnewslive.com reported earlier that a new militant group named Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), that recently split from Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), that claimed responsibility for bombing numerous oil facilities, through its spokes person, Cynthia Whyte alleged that former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was the grand patron of the NDA.

Cynthia Whyte also identified Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Seriaki Dickson of Bayelsa, former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, ex-militant turned contractor, Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), the founder of African Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), the former Special Adviser on Amnesty Programme, Hon Kingsley Kuku, Kimi Angozi, former NIMASA boss, Patrick Akpobolokemi as other sponsors.

The Legislature in other climes is seen as the panacea for a sustainable democracy. Little wonder it is regarded as the First branch of government in a constitutional democracy. The Legislature has also been described as the most representative of the three branches of modern Democratic Institutions. The constituent representative nature of the legislature under a presidential system as a check and counter-balance to the Executive in the operation of the Constitution, constitute a veritable mechanism for the limitations and ability of executive powers. The roles performed by the legislature could facilitate the smooth functioning of the democratic system or by default, its decline and ultimate collapse.

The beauty of modern democracy, which was instituted by the ancient Greeks, since some 3,000 years ago, is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Long gone are those days when the people would assemble at the market place to shout out their wishes, which when collated, would form the policy options of the leaders of the State.

Demographic realities have since dictated a more improved system whereby the views and the wishes of the people are aggregated and conveyed to the highest levels of governance through representatives which they elect at different levels of the polity. Hence, the modern parliaments are taken to constitute the most important level of government, as they represent – or should represent – the vector of the will of the people. The doctrine of separation of powers in a democracy presupposes that each arm of government is assigned certain responsibilities and powers which it exercises with a measure of Independence and in the process, ensures checks and balances within general mechanisms of governance.

The duty of the Legislature is not only to make Laws, but it is also saddled with the responsibility of expressing the will of the people and holding government, particularly the executive to . Legislature has played very important roles and always had a very weighty impact on the development of the democratic culture in society, particularly in Nigeria. This is evident in instances when various legislative chambers in the country held the Executive to ransom for the interest of the masses. It can be recalled that in 2014, the Adamawa State House of Assembly impeached Governor Murtala Nyako; while the Enugu State House of Assembly impeached the Deputy Governor, Sunday Onyebuchi thesame year. Coming down home to Bayelsa state, it could be recalled that Rt. Hon Peremobowei Ebebi (Speaker) led the impeachment of Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha, the Governor of Bayelsa State in 2005, due to the public outcry surrounding his money laundry scandal. These respective Houses at various point in time showed great temerity in order to keep faith with the masses whom they were elected to represent. They showed that every so often, the voice of the oppressed could be heard from afar and near among the oppressed minorities.

Unfortunately, many Bayelsans are now of the impression that the salutary roles and the impact of the State House of Assembly are increasingly being diminished by what has been seen by many as a rubber stamp Assembly, through acts of hero worshipping by its , want of Legislative experience, corruption, and lack of Legislative Independence under the Speakership of Rt. Hon. Kombowei Benson. To that extent, the reputation of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly has continued to be eroded in the purview of the citizens who have been lamenting the deteriorating quality of representation and ineffectiveness they have been enjoying from their elected representatives.

Worst is that it has cascaded from a respectable chamber to a humorist House. The House have absconded their primary function of representation and divest such responsibility to ‘Government critics’ who has unfailingly amplified the voice of the oppressed in the state. It could be recalled that during the inauguration of the House, were engaged in a fisticuff as some were surreptitiously sworn in while others were not. Those that were not sworn in and were devising for a mass protest against the House include; Belemote Alfred Watson, (APGA) Brass constituency II, Gibson Edwin Munalayefa (LP) Ogbia constituency II and Gabriel Michael Ogbara (ADC) Ogbia constituency III who have all, since been sworn in and have resumed their seats. The only thing we have gotten from the House is its continuous romance with the Executive which is not supposed to be so, for them to effectively carry out their function. Despite the public outcry about executive profligacy, the Kombowei Benson led Legislature is seemingly unconcerned. As long as their Allowance keeps coming. They are more concerned with making anti-people’s Law when they are not writing Congratulatory messages to the Governor when opportunity presents itself, then they are congratulating him for his victory at the Tribunal or ing a BILL within 24 hours for the establishment of a certain ‘University of Africa’ to be cited at Toru-Orua, the Governor’s village, when the State’s university is in a pitiable condition and have since been on strike for 3, months now, because of Government inability to pay salary to Lecturers. Not only that, the of the Legislature have failed to embark on a single Constituency project. Even the community of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kombowei Benson lacks portable drinking water. What is wrong with these set of Legislatures?

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly have continuously failed to see that effective legislature contribute to effective governance. And such, have shied away from living it’s Constitutional........http://nextnewslive.com/who-needs-the-bayelsa-state-house-of-assembly-aluzu/

Here is the list of Nigeria's worst performing Governors of 2016. A lot of factors were used in getting to the above.

1. Yahaya Bello of Kogi state

Kogi state, once Nigeria’s seat of capital is now in ruins. From Ejule to Lokoja and beyond, from infrastructure to the economy, the state’s government has done little or nothing in shaping up the lives of its citizens. There are no good roads in the state, no viable commercial activities; state government paid staff and pensioners hasn’t been paid in months; to say that the governor is a monumental failure will be a ‘light praise.’

2. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

The senator turned governor is amongst the worst performing governors in Nigeria. With all the huge funds accrued to to the state, Delta state capital Asaba in of infrastructural development is very backward. There are no good roads in the town, no drainage, no light and No water. The government has also done nothing in salvaging the precarious security situation of the state. Delta state has always been plagued with bad leaders whom are after their pockets. Mr Okowa should map out ways in dealing with the insecurity and embarking on massive infrastructural projects in the oil rich state.

3. Samuel Ortom of Benue state

Benue state governor has gotten himself a slot in the league of the worst performing governors. Since his inception into office, the ex-minister has not initiated or executed any viable project in his state. More so, the marauding Fulani herdsmen have been killing the people of the state in their thousands, and homes and villages been sacked. The governor has done nothing in securing his people against the killers. Until he initiates policies that will bring in goodies to the state, he will be in our list of worst performing governors in Nigeria.

4. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti

The Ekiti state governor has recently been in the news and media on issues bothering the wife of the president. The governor who believes in stomach infrastructure politics have not been doing what a state chief executive ought to be doing. Instead, he choose to do the work of his party’s spokesperson. He attacks the president at any slightest opportunity instead of bringing up projects that will uplift the state. Ekiti is the poorest and the least developed state in the southwest and one of the poorest In Nigeria and as long as the current governor continues to ignore embarking on capital projects in the state, it will remain so for a very long time to come.

5. Abdulfatah Ahmed of kwara state

The governor of the north central state is not experienced on the issues of state leadership and good governance. One is expected that the state with abundant material and human resources should naturally be leading the pack, but it is not so. Instead, he chooses to become the official stooge of Nigeria’s senate president, Mr Saraki. Since he assumed office years back, the state has not experienced any significant growth that translated into the well-being of its citizens. Recently, news of foods being stolen from fire in the state was in the media, leading many to conclude that the hunger in the state was in massive scale. They are all correct. Ahmed needs to step up his game and better the lives of his people.

6. Darius Ishaku of Taraba state

Some would say that the man is taking his time resting after the narrow defeat he gave his rival Mrs Aisha Alhassan. The governor does not have what it takes to lead a state. I suggest he arms himself with advisers and commissioners that knows what it takes to deliver. No single road has been built in Jalingo or anywhere else in the state. The healthcare rating of the state has dropped, and the Education sector is in near comatose. Security has also worsened, and like his neighbor counterpart Mr Ortom, Darius Ishaku is clueless in tackling insecurity and other economic downturns in the state.

7. Tanko AL-makura of Nasarawa

Nasarawa state should be one of the best states in Nigeria in of revenue drive/generation and infrastructural growth, taking its proximity to Abuja as an advantage, but reverse is the case. It is one of the poorest state, north of Nigeria. The governor does not know what it means to prioritize needs. A governor that once wanted to embark on the construction of a cargo airport in the state without standard markets and commercial activities taking place in it. State and local government workers haven’t been paid for months in the state, and no viable project have been commissioned in the state since 2014; one wonders where all the revenue accrued to the state goes. Tanko is one of the governors that squanders federal government allocations on frivolities.

8. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state

Talking about total cluelessness in governance, The Enugu state governor sits on-top. The governor of the coal city state has done virtually nothing since he came into power a year ago. Whatever there is now in Enugu state was done by his predecessors. He is said to be the most ‘’dormant’’ governor in the southeast of NIGERIA. The vibrant capital of the old eastern region, touted to be the entertainment hub of the southeast is now turning to a shadow of its old self. Watchers have started speculating about the possibility of the governor in securing a second term for himself come 2019.

9. Shettima of Borno State

Mr shettima presides over the affairs of the state ravaged by terrorism and insurgency. Since Nigerians (and the world) is more interested in getting to stop the insurgency, his non-performance and cluelessness have been overlooked. The economic and commercial activities in the once Home of Peace is now at a stand-still, and nothing has been done by the governor. His reasons for his non performance is Insecurity, but that shouldn't be the case. Shettima should draw up reconstruction plans and makes sure he sticks his nose into it, till total reconstruction is achieved. He should leave fighting terrorism for the federal government and focus on developmental plans.

N/B: As a blogger, I've been to all 36 states of Nigeria and including the FCT. The compilation was based on what I saw on ground and all other relevant yardsticks.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State yesterday accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, of under developing the state.

The party further called on the state governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, to show the people what the state gained from the six-year rule of Goodluck Jonathan as president.

The APC was seemly reacting to a statement credited to Dickson that leaders of the APC were not doing enough to bring development to the state.

The state’s major opposition party described the submission by the governor as “mischievous and loose”.

This was part of a statement issued by the publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Fortune Panebi, where the APC alleged that both the immediate past president and his party, the PDP, were liabilities to the people of the state.

The statement read, ”Our attention was today drawn to a mischievous and loose statement credited to the Bayelsa state governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, apparently in clear exhibition of arrogance and shallowness that APC leaders from Bayelsa state were yet to attract development to the state.

”From the statement, it was clear that the governor was either being misled by his own imagination or was merely merely expressing another misguided view of our party, the APC.

”In our view, the statement was reckless even as it was a shameless show of brazen arrogance by a man whose party, the PDP had an ample opportunity to develop Bayelsa state that looked the other way.

”Does it not show much of political liability that while Jonathan,a son of Bayelsa state held sway for six years, the state is yet to take off on? What template of development did the former president lay before he was voted out of office? For us in the APC and indeed the generality of Bayelsans, both Jonathan and his party, the PDP were liabilities than they were assets to the people of the state. They under developed Bayelsa State.

”May we use this medium to remind Governor Dickson that rather than chasing shadows and engaging in blackmail, he should consider the plight of Bayelsa workers and pay their salaries. The level of hunger, despair and insecurity occasioned by poverty we thought, could be of paramount interest to him.

”It is a shame that despite the God given opportunity, Jonathan and his party decided to impoverish the people of Bayelsa state just as Governor Dickson, like an emperor, has taken solace in a conquest-like squeeze of the people.

”We use this medium to advise Governor Dickson to face governance during this period of judicial reprieve as the days of justice are not too far away. It can only be preposterous that development which had eluded our dear state over the years under a PDP national government can be hurriedly canvassed to wrestled to Bayelsa within 15 months of President Muhammadu Buhari istration.

”For our teeming ers, we en you to remain steadfast and ignore provocative moves orchestrated by the state government and its agents to trigger unease. We will win at the end of the battle.”

OCCUPY CREEK HEAVEN

Last week the National University Commission confirmed our fears: That the new has come to jettison the old. We should brace ourselves for more excruciating times. Yes, there is no time we can say we have truly enjoyed the didvidents of democracy since the Military istration handed over to civilian Government in 1999 when we elected our first Governor Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha till date. But at least, we never find ourselves in such truculency where we have to trade our children for a bowl of rice. No! We never did. At least not for the political class. It has always been good to be a politician in this state. Ask around, they will tell you a man celebrated his first One Billion Naira (N1,000,000,000.000.00) sometime ago, when he was deeply involved in state politics. It has always been a dream to be a politician in Bayelsa state. But the story is not the same for the vast majority of us-fishermen, subsistent farmers, brick layers, carpenters, traders, unemployed youths, and the rest living below the N18,000.00 minimum wage. We have perennially been in government’s total neglect. Prone to insecurity, exploitation by Politicians, disease, economic instability, communal clashes, flood, oil leakage, to mention but a few. We are used to hard times. At least, so we thought until now.

In fact, the last three months have been terrifying. Jet fighters have been hovering around our roofs, while Avengers were having the time of their life bringing down the country’s oil production to zero percent in the creeks. We cried, we called, we complained, but our Governor was stone deaf. Like he too had ed an ear infection.

Three months now, we have been sitting at home. Our schools, all suffering from infrastructural decay have been under lock and key while ASUU and Government keeps playing ‘ping-pong’ with our future. Our parents have died without their gratuity, leaving us the Youths with the burden of providing for the household with no sustainable means of livelihood. Those whose parents are alive are not very much different from us as they are spending money in this excruciating times, undergoing verification exercise so they can get just 1, out of 17 months salary.

Yet, there is no inspiration from Creek Heaven.

There has been blame, lies, more blame, excuse and counter-excuses. The commissioners of this istration are in a tabular rasa. The Government itself seems to consist of its Virtual Team. Where we only get to see government’s achievements in 5 years online. Public relations have cascaded to warnings, insults and abuses from the Governor and his Aides.

The Legislators is unconcerned. As long as their Allowance keeps coming. They are more concerned with making anti-people’s Law when they are not writing Congratulatory messages to the Governor for his successful return from his 2 week holiday, then they are congratulating him for his victory at the Tribunal or ing a BILL within 24 hours for the establishment of a certain ‘University of Africa’ to be cited at Toru-Orua, the Governor’s village. While Government policies either haunts the poor masses or add more zeros to Executive’s .

In all of these, the Judiciary, hope of the common man is reticent. Lady justicia must have been gagged by the proliferating hunger in the land. The people are left on their own.

This is the condition we find ourself in Bayelsa state.

Of course, this is a pessimistic scenario but it does not in any way capture the asperity of our plights. We Bayelsans.............http://nextnewslive.com/occupy-creek-heaven-yenagoa-e-a-aluzu/

Yet, seriake dickson said No money to fund the present university. Ha NUC, what is your share in this wicked agreement, kickback? Dickson, with building your own university under guise of PPP just know that God is watching you. I hope your university will have the poor children in mind if it will ever takeoff? THIEF.

It's pathetic my brother, the PPP is the cover he has fronted to deceive gullible Nigerians but's no iota of truth in it.

You were trying to correct him and you were still not right according to what the post said!
It's not Federal govt nor state Bayelsa own but own by ppp is a private sector initiative,
the state give the enabling environment and the private sector finance it.

Do you think because it's a PPP project so the private investors will just come and pour money out from Heaven without state government's contributions Where will he get the money to contribute when he cries everyday there is no money

NUC approved the said University as Bayelsa State-owned University and not all the brouhaha about the private thing.

U didn't see where it is a PPP project. Private Partnership. So the university will stand. It's a private university just any other private uni. If u av money u pay, if u don't, u stay back; wen unilag, oau and uniport shut down, did private universities shut down?

The end result is aimed at enriching the man running to NUC to get approval and not for the overall interest of Bayelsans. This was the wrong time to pursue this self-centred project owing to the fact that our younger ones are all at home for months, teachers were not even going to schools to teach before finally closing down for holidays.

Another thing is that, you are shutting down an institution low income earners can easily afford to send their children to for flimsy execuses of government not been able to run the institution and you expect these same low income earners who are not paid for 6months to train their children in an institution that charges N450,000, or N500,000 as the case maybe

I attended the Niger Delta University shut down now from 2004-2008 and only paid N10,000 as specified school fees without dues as then student of the Department of ancy, Faculty of Management Sciences.

Our younger ones are suffering as a result of these poor governance from our leaders, people who are supposed to do their clearance s for NYSC are affected and don't even know their fates. Are you expecting them to enroll in the new proposed University of Africa so they can meet up NYSC deadline

Let's reason please!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!!

BUHARI TO RELEASE HENRY OKAH, NNAMDI KANU, EDMUND EBIWARE, OTHERS SOON

In a statement issued today, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) claimed that a team negotiating on behalf of the Federal Government for a return of peace to the oil-rich delta had agreed to release several detained or imprisoned militants, including Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Henry Okah, a MEND chieftain serving a jail sentence in South Africa, Charles Okah, and Obi Nwabueze. The statement disclosed that Mr. Kanu and other detained IPOB activists would be released on condition that they renounce their agitation for secession. According to MEND, ex-Senator Adolphus Wabara had introduced the compromise to secure the release of the pro-Biafran agitators.

MEND also stated that the government’s negotiators had agreed not to arrest or harass fugitive ex-MEND militant, Government Ekpemupolo (popularly known as Tompolo), “whenever he makes himself available as a delegate of the MEND Aaron Team 2.” In addition, the group stated that the government would review the life sentence meted out on Edmund Ebiware.

MEND declared itself the only militant group from the Niger Delta region presently engaged in a dialogue with the Federal Government of Nigeria, adding that oil companies and security agencies were representing the government in talks aimed at brokering peace in the region which has witnessed increasing attacks on oil facilities since President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in May 2015.

MEND stated that the agreement called for a review of “criminal charges against Urhobo freedom fighter, Mr. Kelvin Prosper Oniarah,” and the review of life sentences handed to seven soldiers in 2008 for ing the Niger Delta struggle. The affected soldiers are Major Suleiman Alabi Akubo, Sergeant Mathias Peter, Lance Corporal Alexander Davou, Lance Corporal Moses Nwaigwe, Lance Corporal Nnandi Anene, Lance Corporal Taatihi Emmanuel, and Private Caleb Bawa.

Declaring the deliberations “fruitful,” MEND seemed to back military reprisals against the Niger Delta Avengers should the group refuse to stop attacking oil installations in the area. MEND’s statement declared, “one of the most immediate and urgent fall-outs of the ongoing dialogue is the imperative for the Federal Government and MEND to tly and separately take proactive steps to rescue and secure the region in the event that the recalcitrant Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) continue on their senseless and politically-motivated path of attacks on the country’s oil assets.

“To this end, both parties agreed that the Special Forces of the Nigerian Army should commence the purely routine but strategic military exercise code-named ‘Operation Crocodile Tears’; while MEND would commence a meet-the Government-Actors-and-People tour of the Niger Delta region code-named ‘Operation Moses.’”

The statement continued: “While ‘Operation Crocodile Tears’ is aimed at ensuring the combat readiness of the Nigerian Army in Amphibious and Internal Security Operations in the Niger Delta as well as check criminal activities like kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, piracy and other forms of criminal activities spearheaded by the NDA in the region, MEND’s ‘Operation Moses’ is essentially to inform, educate and generally sensitize the citizenry in the Niger Delta, particularly the Government, the youth, oil companies, elders and militant community on the need to ceasefire and the President Muhammadu Buhari istration in its determined bid to proffer sustainable solutions to the current Niger Delta crisis.”

MEND urged all states, local governments, oil and gas companies and the people of the Niger Delta region “to go about their lawful and legitimate concerns without any iota of fear as we have received FIRM ASSURANCES from the Federal Government that ‘Operation Crocodile Tears’ is an innocuous exercise in the national interest.”

It added, “Meanwhile, MEND’s ‘Operation Moses’ shall be anchored by the AARON TEAM 2 Dialogue, Peace & Development Initiative tly led by Mr. Odein Ajumogobia (SAN) and HRH King Alfred Papapreye Diette-Spiff, the Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass in Bayelsa State.

“’Operation Moses’ shall commence with a visit by the distinguished of the AARON TEAM 2 to President Muhammadu............http://nextnewslive.com/breaking-buhari-to-release-okah-kanu-ebiwari-others-soon/

U may not b far from the truth. Na their way b that, using public funds to their advantage

The bill to establish the university was past through the Bayelsa State Rubber-stamp House of Assembly in just few days and here we are.

The said university is to be cited at Toru-orua, this huge man's home town.
