Oh so sorry to hear. Have you received your port and didn't receive any yellow slip for 221g?
NBako:
Hello , I have just checked mine it says refused. I was hoping to get 212g but I’m not shocked at this,
Having had a baby in 2022.
Congratulations to all that were approved

My brother, I already did now on some people's post they refused after 6wks put me on 221g and i was able to get a date, reappeared at the embassy and my visa was granted, although i am yet to pick up from OIS

JohnZak:
I pray that you find favor!!
They are flagging people with that length of stay now. 2months upwards.
JohnZak:
Piggybacking on what @cashmadam and others have said. You should have included a letter from her Nigerian ophthalmologist and another from an American ophthalmologist describing her condition his planned clinical management, ission length, and correspondence between the Nigerian and American surgeons etc. Another letter from the hospital with a cost estimate as well and Obviously proof that you can afford the care. Ophthalmic surgeries are very expensive even with insurance. VO was probably worried about these issues especially after three prior surgeries.
Might be best to abandon the medical care route and focus on tourism as a reason. However the current denial can even complicate this.

Yes my port was returned and i picked it from OIS. It was not istrative processing( you don't have to reappear for this unless they write you and tell you to provide more document).
For 221g its a 50/50 chance. Most times they just want to confirm that they have made the right decision especially when its IW. I know people who overstayed(3-6months) who got 221g, reappeared and was still denied based on their length of stay.
And 2 of my aunties who was in the same category was given their visa. You can never tell how it will go until you get there and they ask you one or two questions based on their refusal. That's why i said it might be just for clarity on one or some of the information you provided. Just prepare your mind that you are going for an interview.

I don't think yours is 'istrative processing". Just reschedule like you have stated that you opted for September and go and appear. And just pray its not a big deal. I received 221g as well and was approved.

It will don't worry as long as you did not over stay on your last visit. Most times they just want to confirm something/s that was not too clear. All the best.

Ois to pick up my port which I schedule for pick up this week, and I got a 221g follow up appointment via usvisaapp sechdule. Date I was shown are all in September 2025 and November 2025 all in Lagos . I chose September nothing earlier . Am
Praying it goes well when the time comes.

Its dicey!! Not now that they are trying to cancel Citizenship for 'Aliens'. Even if you mail the embassy in Lagos, they will tell you the onus is on the US immigration to give you access into the country. You can gamble it but be prepared that it may come up when you want to renew.
Consultvenek:
Chances of this is so slim so I will not advise you take this route if you still would love to visit the states in the future. If you want to give birth try Brazil or Mexico.
Safe delivery to you in advance.

No he doesn't have to pay another visa fee. 221G is not an outright refusal, . He just have to get another date.
Efetobore1980:
Hello Alex.
Your friend's dad submitted (or gambled) renewal application as a qualified IW applicant when he naturally did not qualified.
He is likely going to start afresh by submitting a new ds-160 , pay another visa fee, and apply as a normal visa applicant (physical appearance). 👍

Teju2014: 9:29pm On May 21 |
Yes, you will need to pick up the port then rebook an appointment, no you won't have to pay for another visa fee. The appointment is not automatic.
Although someone mentioned that his status showed refused/ it later showed istrative processing/ then changed to visa approved and didn't have to reappear for an interview. i guess he didn't have to pick up his document.
Efetobore1980:
Hello Teju.
How were you eventually approved since you received same letter? because that letter said the applicant's documents have been returned. Did they return yours too ? Did you pay another visa fee ? How did you find yourself back to the embassy? Automatic reschedule appointment? Pls clarify for the good of the public. 👍
|
Teju2014: 4:31pm On May 21 |
He will need to book for a physical interview at the embassy. i received the same for my IW and was later approved, they wanted to clarify something. But bare in mind that if he overstayed(3months and above) on his last visit, the likelihood of them refusing him again is high.
Alexie89:
Hello,
A friends dad got this, please what's the next step and how to go about it.

It is better for her to say she is coming to see her child and grandchild. she hoped to have been there to you for your childbirth but unfortunately her visa was denied. If she says for birth they might do a check-up and see. Every child born has social security number. She should just be honest. I suggest you write the embassy(they read their mails) that your mum missed out on a precious moment and you will like for her to come over and meet her grandchild.
mhizzcherry:
Hello, I am inviting my mum to the US to for delayed omugwo(baby already born), she was denied the first time when I was pregnant and she has a date to go again, she told them she was coming to visit me and be there for the birth of her grand child. Now that my baby has been born, what should she say because she obviously can't say she is coming as nanny. I am a permanent resident and my husband is a citizen

How do you just determine it's not true and a fallacy. There is some truth to it. DoGE has been cutting down staff and agencies to reduce cost and embassies & consulates included. It could be one of the challenges at the Lagos consulate.
Antonio Rubio and D. Trump do not care about repercussions. They are focused on America first and don't care if it takes non-Americans a year to get visa infact they will like you not to come.
USAID and VOA staff are currently unemployed. So, do not cancel an opinion when you are not 100% sure.
Let's us just praying for favour when it gets to our turn. Shikenan!
Thank you oo.. if they are laying people off and cutting staff who is America. People that have been for interview in recent times said they were just 2-3 visa officers

Teju.
It's not true , it's a fallacy.
For U.S embassy to reduce it's staffs is going to be a complex process and it must have diplomatic repercussions. Besides, the number of staffs is determined by the U.S government.
** Nigeria is the most populous black country in the world. We need more staffs . They cannot reduce staffs. 👍
What is Fallacy Please explain to me why visa process has taken 5weeks counting, still counting. If they can reduce staffs in America with DOGE policy who is Nigeria in the scheme of things

This is becoming something else.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing the delay?
Cc: NBako, Gbol123
I was told they have reduced the staff at the Embassy. Not sure how true it is but looks like a strong possibility. It is only those who were refused and re-invited for 221g that got a quick response. Now i am referring to Lagos. As for me i don't have any urgent travel plans so i am not too bothered.

Ask this in the US visit visa thread.
It could be the appointment date is for you to drop off your port at OIS or it might be in person interview.
Interview waiver is still on however it doesn't mean you can't be called in for an in person interview
To add you can also be called in for 221G again because you used the tourist visa to give birth. They are refusing visa renewal based on this and also people who spent 4months above in the US. Again, all the best!
