Teju2014: There two thpes of staff at embassy. Local hires and those who work for Fed agenciy DOS so are like civil service hires and they do interviews nott the liocal hires The latter has been reduced since COVID, which is why you no longer see long queues, same reason visa interview dates are months ahead. They will not recruit more people because of Nigeria |

Does consulate consider the profile of the host of someone visiting usa? Like if the person is a usa citizen or a non-immigrant. Do they consider the finance of the host even if the host is not sponsoring them? What are things to consider for selecting a someone one will be visiting in USA for tourism?

Thanks. Do you think if someone to be visited is a non immigrant, it can affect someone one is inviting to the usa? For instance, if am a non immigrant with valid student status, will it affect me inviting my aunt over? Or can someone who is a retired citizen invite someone over?

follygold: Hello Folly. Yes they do consider the profile (and conduct background checks) of anyone living inside the U.S. and inviting a foreign resident for any kind of visit. The best people you can visit (in America) that will have a kind of relevant to the visa officers are : Your spouse , parents, business partners (in various form) , and your children or annex employer . However, no matter how strong the reputation or how wealthy the person or the entity you are visiting is, the only thing that will determine your visa success is your own personal qualification. You must satisfy all B1/B2 visa requirements. 👍 |

I submitted my application and wants to book an appointment for interview. I was meant to visit the US on five days holiday at the beginning of September this year. I have already booked the tour and hotel which I used the dates for my visa application. while I was trying to book an appointment, I discovered that the earliest date on the calender was ending of September. Will it be okay if I reapply adjusting the dates of my travel/holiday, maybe October and November or should I keep hoping to have earlier dates for me to grab??

Yes it does boss. As a student on an F1 visa, it is appropriate to invite your wify/hubby for a visit, mom/dad/relative for graduation etc. Master, It is important that the person you will be visiting is legally staying in the United states follygold: |

follygold: Hello. Why are both of you (husband & wife) hyper eager to bring your family into the U.S ? Why don't you want to wait until after your final graduation or untl the naming ceremony of your 1st child in America before you invite your mother-in-law ? Employment Authorization Document (EAD) legally allowed both of you to work in the U.S. for a specific period of time but It's a temporary document, not a Green Card, and does not guarantee permanent residency in the future. The only person who can invite her as it stands is her aunt in the U.S and that invitation should be based on medical .👍 1 Like |

I already have an appointment date on the old site before avits was created. My issue is that I wasn't migrated to avits and not still sent the migration link till now. I have ed on avits severally and they will always mention escalating the issue all to no avail. One avits suggested that I should create a new on avits and create ticket. Have done that and it's been 2 months the issue hasn't been resolved. Can I go for my interview with the appointment from the old site since avits haven't updated my ? Is there a place one can go physically at the embassy and have such issues resolved immediately? Nb: My interview is getting closer and my payment is almost a year |

toshofa: Hello. Payment issue/error is a complicated case and most of it ended in the applicant paying another fee. ** If you are not in a haste keep waiting . If you are in a haste create another avits profile and start all over but " Do not transfer or pay with card. Go physically to 1st bank and make your payment . 👍 1 Like |

AmKen: Ken. If your previous appointment letter is intact and you have the ds 160 confirmation slip that reflects the code on the appointment then you do not have to open another avits profile . Go to your interview like that but go along with two recent port photo. When your visa is out you can then go and and on OIS for pick up. NOTE: Anyone with payment issue should let a well experienced person to guide him or her . It is better than forfeiting or wasting $180 visa fee . People now pays twice or more out of payment error which is becoming the most difficult task for majority. 👍 1 Like |

Hello, I am inviting my mum to the US to for delayed omugwo(baby already born), she was denied the first time when I was pregnant and she has a date to go again, she told them she was coming to visit me and be there for the birth of her grand child. Now that my baby has been born, what should she say because she obviously can't say she is coming as nanny. I am a permanent resident and my husband is a citizen
|
Efetobore1980(m): 7:02pm On May 12 |
mhizzcherry: Hello Cherry. Your mum is very likely going to be denied again but if you apply some wisdom in her application the table can turn to her side. ** Her Omugwo (nanny) intention had been annotated in her first visa interview therefore, she must be honest in her next interview but with wisdom. ** In this respect your mum needs to familiarise herself with convincing answers to the consular. ** To convince the consular the more , you can hire a temporary nanny in the U.S and have the employment contract copied to your mum (she should take it to the embassy) as part of the evidence that she is not coming for Omugwo. ** Your mum must display strong ties and engaging activities back home in Nigeria too. Caring for your kid is considered an employment in the U.S (she already has this history at the embassy) even if she were caring for her grandchildren, therefore her application calls for wisdom. 👍 |

In general, an invite from a direct/nuclear family relative is better. It is a stretch for your mum to request for a visa based on the invite of her 60-70-year-old sister when she has a son and daughter-in-law in the States. Your husband is better-positioned to invite his mum. This is a more credible approach for his mum than her daughter-in-law or sister inviting her. However, this is based on the assumption that your husband is the main applicant for the AOS, has a valid visa like H1-B, L, O, or F visa, and that the AOS is not based on asylum, TPS, or U-visa etc. If you are the main applicant and your husband is the dependent, then you can both invite her. Obviously, the invite is just one part. She has to also demonstrate home ties, to include finances etc. follygold: 1 Like |

These visa officers are sick sick !!! They denied my dad for the first time ever .They didn’t even ask him any questions ,just down right denial LOL! Someone that was even entitled to Dropbox and the new website messed him up .At this point I don’t care if I even get it ,good riddance ! 1 Like |

It is better for her to say she is coming to see her child and grandchild. she hoped to have been there to you for your childbirth but unfortunately her visa was denied. If she says for birth they might do a check-up and see. Every child born has social security number. She should just be honest. I suggest you write the embassy(they read their mails) that your mum missed out on a precious moment and you will like for her to come over and meet her grandchild. mhizzcherry: 3 Likes |

Zebaby89: Hello Baby. USA Visa Officers does not hate you. They are not wicked or mindless, and they dont like to break our hearts as most of us used to think. But they owes allegiance to the United States as highly educated diplomats who won their jobs through an intensely competitive and difficult process. They can be fined (for treasonable felony) up to $10,000 or minimum of 5 yrs imprisonment if they commit or by open visa issuing blunders (especially to terrorists, wanted criminals, drug cartel etc). Go and research 911 event, you will understand why the U.S visa is becoming the most complex and difficult to secure. NOTE: With due respect, your dad's previous visa was abused in the sense of over-staying, illegal working etc (either knowingly or unknowingly) and mind you he was not entitled to drop box but he was qualified for IW and the USA embassy has the veto power to invite him for physcal appearance. Tell us the real jist. We have experts on NL who will suggest possible way out for our senior citizen. 👍 |

Efetobore1980:He has money so why would he work there for the 3 weeks he goes on holiday ?ewwwwww. This is someone who owns 2 holiday homes in the uk btw, paid for in full with no mortgage .So idk what they mean by he doesn’t have home ties to Nigeria? He might be retired but he’s got money, property and investments .He took his bank statements and other docs as usual but they never ask to see all that. His wife got a different interview date than him cos of the messed up website .So again I ask what home ties did he just start lacking this year ?Lool they are clearly deranged . |

Zebaby89: So sorry about this. It is absolutely insane honestly. I think your Dad met a mean visa officer who was just bent on denying him. I suggest he reapplies as soon as possible. He will definitely get the visa. They are really flexing these days and denying a lot of senior citizens. My Uncle with a 5 year Canadian visa was denied today. Same home ties story. A 65 year old man with 2 children in Canada and a very comfortable life in Nigeria. It is sad and really annoying..... 2 Likes |

Zebaby89: Hello. I won't reply after this in order to avoid situations but let me clear out some points. 1. Wealthy people thrice than your dad have been denied in the past on their first time or on renewal. 2. Your dad as a wealthy individual can be suspected of money laundering. 3. Ironically, US embassy suspects professionals (ie engineers, doctors, surgeons, etc) & wealthy individuals who travels too frequently to different countries within the space of short periods than the low or average individuals. The aforementioned are some of the characteristics of drug pushers , terrorists , human traffickers, Money launderers etc. 4. Avits amentum did not mess up your dad. Your agent or the person who handles the application does not have full knowledge about how to navigate family appointment. Besides, the Embassy overturned your dad's IW qualification into physical interview because he was suspected of something and needed to be seen for interrogation. 5..Your dad may have failed to express or explain himself clearly to the consular about his activities in the U.S. (he can be a PhD holder and still failed in this aspect). Most time , our senior citizens especially the wealthy ones can be unfriendly towards the consulars thinking the renewal of his visa is automatic. I have seen an elderly woman shouted on a visa officer in the past. **. My points here are not to disrespect your dad pls. I am only narrating to you the very possible mindset of the interviewing officers. 👍 1 Like |
