The tech world is ever evolving. Every market segment and target audience are migrating more and more online by the day. This makes it a matter of necessity for every business that wants to attracts and retain more customers to open an office online. There are several platforms through which you could establish your service point online. Your website, with a functional blog, plus engaging social media pages will provide your business with vibrant online presence. If your website is basically to serve as an online brochure, you could worry less about optimizing your website for search marketing and conversion.

As a startup or SME, business models vary and approaches to market are not the same. However, you have to ensure more visitors who visit your website take one or two actions that translate to profit for your business. This is called conversion. Also, you must ensure prospects who are looking for what you offer can find you easily via search engines. That is called search optimization.

If you could successfully optimize your website for conversion and search marketing at the same time, your startup will surely blossom in due time. In ways as brief as possible, we will take a look at what cogent features you should look out for in your website to ensure that your website is optimized for conversion and search.

Why Search Optimization?

The most terrible thing to happen to a business is that a prospect is actually looking for you but ends up with your competitor. For instance, you have spent a whole lot of money and effort on offline advertising and your business is generating lots of buzz around town, folks will still google you! That is the truth. Most people will not your website or your business name in particular. But they will what you sell plus your brand promise via your TV, billboard ads, radio jingles. It is this bit of message they grab offline that will use to search for you online.

The whole essence of optimizing your website for search marketing is that when prospects like these are looking for you, they can easily find you and identify you effortlessly when they find you. Since we all can’t be web developers or search optimization specialists, we should find ways of ing that the website developed for us as business owners are well positioned to get attention of those searching for what we sell.

In simplest way possible, on-page optimization are a body of traits your website you should portray for search engines to list it as a search result when a prospects search with keywords relevant to your business.

What is Search Optimization?

Please bear it in mind that search marketing involves both search engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising. While pay-per-click ads require you pay Google or other online publishing platforms to display your ad to their audience, search engine optimization (on-page) involves those features on your website that could be fine-tuned to better position your website for search marketing. Startups and SMEs may not have budget fat enough to accommodate cost of PPC, but they could make a checklist from this post, audit their websites themselves or liaise with their web developer to ensure their websites are optimized for search marketing and conversion.

What is On-page Optimization?

Common on-page optimization features startups should look out for in their website include title and description meta tags, image name and Alt text, web page URL and so on. Web page title and description meta tags may sound too techy for an everyday startup owner who just wants to sell successfully online and cash out. What those tags do is tell search engines about your website. Meta tags are the code used by your website to tell introduce the content of your website or brand message to search engines and internet s searching for information to guide their buying decisions.

Home Page Title meta Tag

Home Page title meta tag is the first line that shows on Google when your website is displayed as a search result. This gives you around 60 characters to briefly introduce your business to search engines and s of search engines. Most web developers over look this and it happens by default if Wordpress is used to develop your website. Unfortunately, it could have severe implication on a website’s search optimization.

This should include your brand name and summary of your Unique Selling Proposition. In shortest way possible, the content of your Home page title meta tag should tell a newbie what makes your business stand out. Check your website on Google now, if the first line does not summarize your USP, ask that it should be edited. You may be losing many leads unknowingly.

Web Page Title Meta Tag

Title meta tag is not important for only home page, every web page on your website should have unique title meta tag which summarizes the content of the particular web page. This helps search engine to index your web pages correctly and display them when relevant keywords are used to search. For every startup and SME that sells product or service online, each web page created for each product or service should have unique title met tag.

Description Meta tag

Description meta tag also applies to both Home page and all web pages. What description meta tag does is to buttress your title meta tag. Assuming your title meta tag is a newspaper headline, the content of your description meta tag is the snippet of the story. It is a short paragraph that highlights what is really catchy on your website. Thus, you use the content of your description meta tag to explain further what your title meta tag introduces. This is where you could lay emphasis on special benefits your offer s.

Having read your headline and summary of benefits as presented by search engine on search result list, a prospect has only few seconds to decide whether to click through to your website or not. This is the beginning of a mere web visitor’s journey to conversion, it will do your startup business a lot of good if you could convince a newcomer to check out your website by making sure the content of your title meta tags and description meta tags for your home page and all web pages are explicit, concise and catchy enough to make prospects click through.

Image Name and Alt Text

To optimize images on your website for search marketing, name each image correctly and ensure Alt text has information on what the image is about. This may sound trivia but it is quite useful. During image search, a lead could click through to your website when they find an image you have named correctly. Such lead may not even be looking for you or your product, but clicking an image that bears name relevant to their search query will automatically land them on your website.

What Image Alt text does is to tell your audience what the image is about in case the image fails to load properly. Poor network signals by internet service provider could make an image not to load properly and on time. Besides, some web browsers, especially on mobile phones have images automatically turned off. On such occasions, image Alt text will inform the audience about the message the image intends to .

Benefit of Search optimization?

With your website optimized for search, more traffic will be driven to your website. With more traffic being generated daily, quality content and FREE offers will help you obtain their information and follow up with them. Doing this will increase traffic and conversion over time.
In order not to put your increased traffic to waste, you should ensure that steps leading to conversion are seamless. One way to achieve this is to choose a -friendly payment platform. Here are some key features you should consider in choosing a good payment platform for your website:

Security and Trust

Your payment platform must be secure and be the type that builds confidence in your customers as they transact with you online. It could deploy a third-party authentication like VeriSign or GeoTrust to validate the security level. This will guarantee the security of the information that is transferred so that s’ financial details are not compromised.

At a minimum, transactions must be carried out over a secure server; known as Secured Socket Layer (SSL). A website address that has SSL will change its display from http:// to https://

Efficient Customer Service

No matter how effective the security of a payment platform is, things go wrong when they are least expected. It may not be you, it may be your customers who are having a hard time getting their payment processed successful. No payment or tech-driven platform can boast of 100% performance at all times. But the system recovery provisions put in place to remedy the awkward situation on time differentiate some payment from others.

VoguePay is one-of-a-kind payment platform whose customer service is accessible via multiple channels like Facebook, Twitter, emails, phone calls, skype or ticket platform. When you can quickly lodge your complaint, get speedy response and resolution of the issue, you can be sure to have smooth payment processing which will further encourage your customers to do more transactions with you online.

You don’t want to be punished for trying to buy from someone, do you?

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.

Now that the person God, the creator Himself, made the head says he is not fit to lead. Civilization, self-esteem or what, who is to blame?

How many of those who totally agree with Charlie boy want to grow up and become who he is now?
How many men have been in his shoes?
How many men have had the experience that made him conclude he is weaker than the female folks?

You cant give what you don't have. His theory comes from his life experience.
Kindly take note of that before preaching his gospel.

You are weaker if you think so of yourself, whether man or woman.

Thanks to the internet, protocols, networks, Reuters, and the World Wide Web (www), the world is becoming smaller and smaller. Come to think of it, what is actually making the world grow smaller? Information, I guess. Access to more information increases by the minute. Piece of information that will ordinarily take months to get are now available with a click.

Transactions that could have taken weeks in the time past now takes place in seconds. The more information we have, the easier it is to buy and sell online especially via mobile devices. E commerce (buying and selling online) may not have gone this far if mobile devices and apps have not come to the mainstream.

The cyber space is now open to anyone to transact businesses. The opportunity to sell services and products online now is very robust and continues to grow. To encourage more and more startups and small businesses to start selling online, it is advisable to demystify ecommerce.

The purpose of this post is to explain the core components of buying and selling online. You will learn basic things you should keep in mind as you plan to start selling to the online community. Even if you already have an online store, you still have a lot to learn from this piece. You will be able to differentiate between payment gateway, payment processor and merchant .

What is Payment Gateway?
Similar to POS used at shops and offices, payment gateway is a window through which you take payment for your stock online. Gateway allows you to charge credit/debit cards for goods or services sold on your website. As a matter of security recommendation, you are not allowed to directly transfer transaction details from your website to a payment processor.

Thus, payment gateway is an e-commerce application service provider service that authorizes credit card payments for e-businesses, online retailers, bricks and clicks, or traditional brick and mortar.

One of the important decisions you will make when migrating your startup business online is choosing your payment gateway. You could choose to have as many payment gateways as possible on your website. But you will have to pay for integrating each of them. However, with VoguePay, you do not have to integrate and pay individual payment gateways. VoguePay aggregates many local and international payment gateways for your convenience and ease of use.

It is gateway that authorizes the acquiring bank to charge the card provided for payment. It is through gateways that your business communicates with your client’s banks to either approve or decline pending transactions. Security is very vital with gateways, as their major role is to ensure that personal and financial information provided by clients who want to pay via your website are properly secured. Payment gateways charge both merchants and the banks either a monthly fee or percentage of the transaction amount.

What is Payment Processor?
A payment processor is a company (often a third party) appointed by a merchant to handle transactions from various channels such as credit cards and debit cards for merchant acquiring banks.

Payment processors are the financial tech institutions that work in the background to provide all the payment processing services used by an online merchant. VoguePay is Africa’s biggest payment processor. VoguePay provides you with free merchant which you could effortlessly set-up and . Even before your is verified, you could start transacting with other VoguePay s.

If you have a ed your business with CAC already, ing your to facilitate transactions with non-VoguePay merchants is easy and prompt. With as low as N1,500, you will have a payment processing setup and verified. Isn’t that enough reason for you to smile?

What is a Merchant ?
A merchant is established under an agreement between an acceptor and a merchant acquiring bank for the settlement of payment card transactions.

Merchant is the you will open with a payment processor. It is on your merchant that the payment processor facilitate your debit and credit before your bank is hit. Merchant s have different features based on the payment processor.

VoguePay has Flexible Management, Accept payment without a website, free technical tools, Recurring transfers, Track and audit all transactions and communications, currency Control, customisable notifications, bulk and batch payments, free mobile phone applications, highly competitive charges, multiple payment channels.

What makes eCommerce tick?
Now that you can differentiate between payment gateway, payment processor and merchant . You have information good enough to decide who to work with when you want to start selling online. Beyond just setting up your business online, you should keep an eye on your potential customers in decisions you make. If you intend to take payment from customers abroad, make payment in foreign currencies or plan to receive payment in currencies other than Naira, you should sign up with payment processor that has a tested and trusted international gateway.

The success of your online business will be limited if your potential customers have difficulty paying you because you don’t have provision for their preferred form of payment. That is another reason VoguePay makes the best option for payment processing.

VoguePay's global coverage allows consumers and businesses to safely make and receive payments in all major currencies, regardless of location. VoguePay was created with a vision to make online, cross-currency payments and transactions safer, cheaper and more accessible for businesses, traders and consumers in Africa and internationally.

After you have taken the courage to put your brainchild to work, you will definitely need some bucks to put your idea on the table. Every entrepreneur, whether successful or mediocre, has this nightmare. Our dreams become ghosts that keep us from sleeping. This burning desire to make something outta nothing keeps us thinking and thinking over time.

Many employees, too, have this shadow chasing after them but most are handicapped by startup seed. To put yourself forward as an entrepreneur is a very big deal. With it comes the vacuum you need some funds to fill for a start. Before what you have nursed in your mind all the way becomes visible to us all, you will need small doe to bring your idea to live.

When you are just starting out, you're not at the point yet where a traditional lender or investor would be interested in investing in you. So, that leaves you with selling assets you really really fancy, borrowing against your house, dipping your hands into your emergency vault and asking loved ones for loans. There is a lot of risk involved, including the risk of bankruptcy with your personal finances and fractured relationships with friends and family.

This is the hard part behind starting a business -- putting so much at risk. But doing so is the rite of age to both success and failure. It's what sets entrepreneurs apart from people who collect paychecks. You’ve got too many decisions to make in a short period of time, with inadequate information available to you at times. You become so many things to so many people at the same time. Even your close pals will be wondering if they have ever seen you in such form before.

At this point, you definitely know you will get paid. But how you will receive your payments may not be very clear to you. You will have to decide what platform will be the best for you to receive and make payments. Before you are a range of options from traditional acceptance of cash or bank deposit to online payment solutions such as e-wallet, local or international payment gateways, and custom apps and so on.

A major key is to ramp up initial operations as quickly as possible to get to the point where outside investors can see and feel the venture, as well as understand that you took some risk getting it to that point. That is you do as much as you could to make me your idea your idea. Many will turn your down because they don’t believe in your ability or can’t see how your business model will bring return on their investment.

Do not be discouraged. It is your vision, they aint wearing ‘google’, so they are allowed not to see from your perspective. Do as much as much as you could until the blind can also feel your business.

Some businesses can also be bootstrapped. They can be built up quickly enough to make money without aid from investors who might otherwise come in and start calling the shots. With so much at risk, it is important to have a strong business plan in place, and to seek out advice from experienced entrepreneurs and experts -- people who might also invest in your business someday.

Seek out trade unions you could identify with. When you find some who shares your worries, the pain becomes less. Attend networking events with the attitude to add value to those who you will meet.

What's Next? Once you get over the initial wahala, it is possible to seek out funding sources available to more advanced startups and early stage SMEs.

VoguePay is a -friendly online payment platform that allows you set up an for free and receive, transfer funds with or without a website.

Running startups in Nigeria don’t have to bite hard like plagues. We have advised in the past on how you can save from your current job, how you could bootstrap to fast track the growth of your business. Here and now, we present to you a concept you might have heard but don’t know much about or yet to tap into as a startup.

Nigerian economy may be going through hard times, banks may find it hard to give startups and SMEs loan to boost their businesses but there some good Samaritans among us that are willing to take some risk with you and also share from your profit over time.

They are called Angel Investors, or Angels for short. They are not Angel Gabriel from the skies, so don’t expect free bread from them. Even, streets of Free Town don’t grow free money on the free trees. So, be prepared for a value-for-value relationship as you pitch them to fall in love with your business when you finally find them.

Some startups in Nigeria may be aware there are angels among us but do not know them and where to find them, we will provide you with a short list of some angel investors whom you could .

Who are Angel Investors?

An angel investor or angel (also known as a business angel, informal investor, angel funder, private investor, or seed investor) is an affluent individual who provides capital for a business start-up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity. The term "angel" originally comes from Broadway theatre, where it was used to describe wealthy individuals who provided money for theatrical productions that would otherwise have had to shut down.

High-profile success stories like Uber, WhatsApp, and Facebook have spurred angel investors to make multiple bets with the hopes of getting plenty plenty returns.

Angels could be professionals from any field of specialization –doctor, engineer, lawyers and so on. Startups must avoid this stereotype mindset that their businesses could actually appeal to a particular class of professionals or some philanthropists. By keeping an open mind and exhuming confidence that angels will make more than their money back in due time will boost their chances of sweeping an angel off his feet.

Startups don’t necessarily have to look up to ONLY those who have succeeded in their industry before. What matters is that angels are wealthy and are willing to invest cheerfully into your business in return for a piece of the action.

How does Angel Investment work for Startups?

Angels pump money into your startup or small business in exchange for equity in the business. Apart from funding, angel investors can provide valuable management advice and important s. There are several ways through which private companies meet angel investors. These include referrals from the investors' trusted sources and other business s; at investor conferences and symposia; and at meetings organized by groups of angels where companies pitch directly to investor in face-to-face meetings.

Profit jaburata may not the only reason an angel investor wants to fund your startup business, it may be to keep abreast of current developments in a particular business arena, mentoring another generation of entrepreneurs, and making use of their experience and networks on a less than full-time basis.

Angel investment works for different types and sizes of businesses. It works for startups that are already running on seed fund but need handsome capital to develop a product or fund a marketing strategy. It works as well for SMEs that need some cash to kick the enterprise to the next level, expand scope of business or venture into a new line of business based on their success in an existing venture. This could be helpful when you find an innovative way your business can better meet your primary or secondary audience in order to boost revenue.

What is bad in angel investment?

The truth is, no matter how great something is in this life, it has its own flipside. Although, this is not enough for you to completely shut down helping hands from sincere and trustworthy business angels in your business life. So many brands that are rocking the technology and business world in general benefited immensely from angel investment. Uber is one brand you could pick on and study today. You will see how they became the world’s most profitable fleet company through angel investment and without owing a car!

How can Startups find angel investors in Nigeria?

There are several ways you could find and meet business angels in Nigeria as a startup. This piece won’t explicitly deal with that now, but we have for you a list of reputable Nigerian angel investors.

Click the link to meet Nigerian Angel investors https://angel.co/nigeria/investors

You will benefit a lot from their wealth of knowledge, , access to fund and information plus experience as a startup or SME who need funds and some form of mentorship.

What do angel investors look out for in startups and SMEs?

We will give you in bullet points (we aint shooting you ooo, abeg, fear not!), what angels particularly care about so you can prepare ahead.

-The quality, ion, commitment, and integrity of the founders.
-The market opportunity being addressed and the potential for the company to become very big.

Have you checked their site? You might be able to get a few info from there

There are so many fake recruitment agencies and it is a good advice to do your background checks before going for job interviews.

I agree with the points raised below about doing background checks, especially on Google.

Qualms:
1) VoguePay (owned by Vogue Web Solution) is in no way related to any company by the name quoted by you guys above
2) Companies do exist on the same floor, that is why Suites 32 and 33 was stated.
3) As smart graduates, we should know that when you have an email as [email protected], there will be a website as "voguepay.com" where more information can be sourced on the Company
4) As smart graduates, we should know that if you are not sure about the company, you can carry out a prelim check on it by paying a courtesy visit prior to your interview date
5) As smart graduates, we should know that when you type "voguepay" into google, you will get a comprehensive
You can be assured that if you are not smart enough to know how to source information online, you cannot excel at VoguePay or any similar firms. I am left wondering whatever happened to the quality of graduates being produced in recent times.
For the records, VoguePay shares no affiliation with any of the companies quoted above. You may google (as earlier advised) to understand why "Suites 32 & 33" were quoted. VoguePay has many awards to its credit and is currently nominated for the award of the best payment processor in Nigeria 2015. VoguePay won the same award in 2014 under the People's Choice category.
Please get your facts together.

What have you done in order to achieve your dreams?

I came across this story today of a Nigerian who delayed his NYSC service year to make sure he fulfils his dream. I did a little research and discovered that he is even known on this forum as @lojik. https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/lojik. He is the co-founder of VoguePay a leading online payment gateway in Nigeria

Some appetizer below:

How did a Chemical Engineering graduate end up as a Software Developer?

.....After I finished school in 2002, I decided I wasn’t going for my Youth Service (NYSC)[/b] because if I did, my parents would force me to pursue Chemical Engineering on completion. That would actually derail my ion for tech entrepreneurship. As I couldn’t afford to pay for the training I needed, I knew I had to take the self-taught path. So I told my parents I didn’t make the NYSC list, although I actually did. I kept up that lie for 4 years. That was enough time to learn everything I needed.

What have you done in order to achieve your dreams?

I cam across this story today of a Nigerian who delayed his NYSC service year to make sure he fulfils his dream.

Leke: [/b]That is all thanks to the “Nigerian factor”. The average Nigerian university student has no idea what their course of study is all about, mostly because it wasn’t their first choice.....After I finished school in 2002, I decided I wasn’t going for my Youth Service (NYSC) because if I did, my parents would force me to pursue Chemical Engineering on completion.

Leke: [/b]That is all thanks to the “Nigerian factor”. The average Nigerian university student has no idea what their course of study is all about, mostly because it wasn’t their first choice. I actually wanted to study Computer Engineering but two of my sisters were already studying that. My parents didn’t want 3 out of their 6 children all studying the same course, so I had to opt for Chemical Engineering (at the Lagos State University). My mind was never in it though. I struggled and managed to finish with a Second Class Upper.

PLEASE HOW DO I LINK AN ONLINE PAYMENT SYSTEM TO MY SO THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO COLLECT 3% OF ANY MONEY THAT IS MADE THROUGH D WEBSITE

It looks like you are selling something on your website. If I am right, VoguePay is an easy system to help you decide how you want to allocate the revenue you make on your site. One of the features in VoguePay is called Merchant Split. and another is called Product Split

The Merchant Split works like your own platform while the Product Split helps you to organize your revenue against your product inventories.

I hope it will help better if you read these guide:

Due to the frustrations of many job seekers in Nigeria, many Nigerians have been tricked by job scammers who extort them of the little money in their pocket. Thanks to this thread on NairaLand, you now have a guide you can refer to on How to spot fake Nigerian Jobs https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/search?q=HOW+TO+PREPARE+FOR+JOB+INTERVIEW&search=Search

After the interview, it will be a good idea to follow up (in case you are not called) to know the status of your interview. Many companies even send rejection letters too to let you know you were not selected.

5. If you were lucky to get the job, be the best staff you can be and make your first 90 days memorable.

Good luck.

I really don’t think SimplePay4u can be used to receive payment in USD yet. Although VoguePay might not have gotten back to you but am very sure offers that service. You can checkout this link http://blog.voguepay.com/kb/local-to-international-transfers/ for more clarification on that.
Did you them by mail on @voguepay.com?
Maybe you try their social media pages (Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/voguepay and Twitter: @voguepay)

Hope it helps.

I agree with @creativeweb's recommendations as they are worth considering.

The only reason i don't use any of those for my international transactions is because VoguePay makes receiving your money locally easy due to their direct partnership with Nigeria Banks.

I am also aware that Voguepay has good presence in the countries you intend to do business with. I recently saw a comment on their Facebook page about someone using them in UK and Cyprus.
