Recently read this on Punch: http://punchng.com/indigenous-firms-build-software-for-small-businesses/ This is an interesting development when local software can be developed to do the same thing all this foreign software are used for. Imagine that Nigeria spent up to N1 trillion Naira (i.e N1 billion X 1,000) on foreign software alone. Kudos to www.probitybooks.com. Do you know any local software produced in Nigeria that deserves any good mention too ( I can easily think of Remita, VoguePay, Interswitch etc). Please mention others that deserve applause cc: Lalasticlala Ishilove Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy |

This policy might look like it is NOT favourable, but let's look at the bright side. 1. There is a HIGH cost of transporting cash that will be reduced as a result of this policy (that means government and businesses can save money) 2. Government will print less cash while saving the money (it might surprise you that the cost of printing N50 note is higher than N50. In fact it is almost the same cost to print N1000 note) 3. Incidences of arm robbery will be reduced. But this does not mean that government should not provide reasonable incentives for people to adopt it. While the sanctions of additional fees might be imposed, there is need for Government to work with private stakeholders in the payment sector like www.VoguePay.com and the rest to set up easy solutions for payment. I expect that on a massive scale of enlightenment on mobile money, POS and web payment options for businesses in this cities. |

SmartyPants: Really, you should ask their team what they need your debit card PIN for. From a security point of view, I doubt if this is safe. In fact, you are not expected to share your PIN with anyone. On the other hand, you might be required to provide your Bank details for withdrawal purposes. I use VoguePay.com and I have never been asked to provide my card pin instead, I have to add bank http://voguepayblog.com/kb/add-bank--voguepay-/ You need to ask questions to confirm what next to do. |

FellepHq: Logistics is one big problem to solve in this country, abeg.. If you look around, some couriers do not charge up to 2K per delivery depending on the location. I am wondering why VoguePay is reducing prices when almost everyone else in this country is raising prices? That is a good move for customers anyway, especially, me. Kudos to them. 1 Like 2 Shares |

I totally agree with @VastfinderBlog on the issues of fraud and how to prevent it in Nigeria. What we have noticed is that online payment fraud is a global issue (not just an issue with Nigeria). Unfortunately, when small businesses owners are exposed to this fraud, they might not have resources to pursue redress. Since these activities happen online, online payment gateways have an important role to play in preventing this from happening by making sure that... 1. Businesses using them perform adequate KYC to prevent them from using the payment gateway for fraud 2. Ensure they have adequate intelligence gathering mechanism for transaction monitorings. The good news is that fraud rates will go down if there is collaborations among all players. There is an article that discusses how VoguePay - an online payment solution in Nigeria - is making efforts to ensure that its merchants and s are safe from payment fraud. They are the perfect example I can give. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/04/cybercrime-voguepay-seeks-cooperation-among-payment-firms-security-agencies/
