I have been offline for about a year - maybe longer - and come back online - and the same old same old clowns abusing others.

Africa and the U.S. - both countries have IGNORANT, UNEDUCATED BLACKS - both Africans and African Americans - I don't know which country tops the other with uneducated ignorant blacks.

Because of the racism in the U.S. - I can confidently GUESS that the U.S. leads hands down. When you go to Africa you openly see a larger upper class, middle class and even larger underclass - but you still see them. Here in the U.S. you have to peel back soo many covers to find the token blacks that have made it through the system - many states in the U.S. especially more West you travel and the further go into the hundreds of small towns - you won't see a black face at all.

It is not my job to edit wikipedia.  I am also not an authority figure on vast topics, I would never present myself as a figure of authority to update any topic on Wikipedia.

Many innocent students ignorantly use Wikipedia, brag about it and reference it in papers that affect their grade point average.  Too many professors forbid their students in 2012 from using Wikipedia.

It is ignorance not TO DO TRUE RESEARCH that isn't internet based.  Many students such as yourself refuse to put in the time to properly research and do the work that is required of them.

I run my own business, Ignorant, I am very far from, St.pid.  doesn't know my name.  I am definitely not an old learner as I CURRENTLY work with students who are working on their Law Degree from Law Schools and WORK with Masters Students working on Masters Degrees in IT and in Business Management from great universities.  None of them rely on, or use Wikipedia and they also have professional positions at major corporations.

Wikipedia is what it is.   A site that has general information on too many topics to mention.  Most of the information hasn't been validated that is why using it to rely on for academic purposes is quite foolish, they haven't housed the correct information even on your own country, Nigeria.  I do understand Kobo's use as a tool to look for additional tools.  I only suggested more indepth tools such as academic journals which are online and are already validated in the academic world.

I work with serious students who are beyond their Bachelor Degrees.  They would not use Wikipedia as they have other alternatives and other options.  Wikipedia is seen to them as very surface and remedial compared to the deeper research levels they reside upon as they are working on their thesis Masters and Doctoral.

Be aware of who you speak to when you speak as ignorance and I don't and have never occupied the same space.

If you want to use Wikipedia as a tool, using it as a tool for studies or academic or classroom use is like using the wrong tool for the wrong purpose such as using a garden hoe as a spatula to flip a burger.  Use Wikipedia as a "fun information tool."  Never expose your grade point average to Wikipedia, that is st.up.idity at its finest.  And if you insist on using it, make sure you have other credible sources you cite and you aren't relying on Wikipedia.  Which makes no sense to me, because if I have to cite other sources besides Wikipedia, why would I waste time using it, when there are other sites that I can access just as fast and just at direct through the student portal at your local College Campus that is connected to all of the libraries that are online?

Earlier, the poster asked that we depart from this debate on this thread.  This is my last post.  I stand firm on what I have said and my opinion remains and will remain the same in regards to Wikipedia.

A man won't leave a woman who is loving, attractive, financially well off.  A man in the U.S. who is AA, White, Spanish, Mexican, Italian will leave your black arse as fast or faster than a Nigerian male who has more patience for you than his male counterparts who are American citizens.

Get off the internet and get on the treill or bike.  Get a manicure, a pedicure and get your teeth whiten.  Make sure you have a good paying job and more importantly what is your relationship with God?

Where is your faith?  IT sure shouldn't be in men or in family that surrounds you.  Jealousy knows no boundaries, are they jealous because you have someone that truly cares?  If he needs a green card, what do you need?  Life is give and take.  Get what you can out of this life and completely enjoy it and share yourself with someone else.  Make sure that you are giving them something that is worthy of them and not an old, washed up, fat gossipy, unemployed woman who cares more about what the neighbors think instead of being slim, trim, attractive, educated and employable. 

Make sure you get out of him the qualities that are worthy and vice versa.

I hate spending hours and hours at the Library or on google searching  through tons of sources to pin-point exactly what I want. The WikipEdia Data Search Engine does a better job than google at presenting me with information that more exactly matches data I need and I love that about it.

Everyone around you thinks the same way.  And guess what?  The same Wikipedia you are using, is the same one they are using, Get your paper to stand out by getting off Wikipedia because it is basic information and you run the risk of "not being current or valid", put some bang in that paper by grabbing some journals which can be just as fast and just as easy and there are so many millions of journals out there that the professor hasn't even seen.  Your papers can receive some serious attention of excellence by retrieving info. that is not on Wikipedia or the cites it references.

Kobo, I encourage you to take one hour during your "down time" to drag yourself to your school library and work with a librarian on a fictitious topic, choose any topic and see how long it takes you to locate sources, compile a list of sources that can be accessed online.  You will be surprised as the links will fill a notebook on any topic.

You are a student, you have access to information that most people can only DREAM ABOUT.  Your library, to your university or college library online.

Choose any topic, it will locate information from every single library in the U.S.   WAAAAYYYY more than wikipedia.  I KNOW what you are saying.  Get the general gist FROM Wiki and then grab another source that Wiki uses.  You sound like the students (many white ones) who love the cliff notes instead of reading the books.  They want the fast, quick and easy.  A and A+ papers include much information that requires research and information that isn't readily available on the internet and definitely more than what Wiki offers.

Search engines and websites that are ACADEMIC in nature that tell you "how to search"  "how to access that nitty gritty that separates the quality students from the rest of the pack."  You can work to just "get through school" or you can be that student that prepares themself for "graduate student"

Academic journals are invaluable and are as easy to access as Wikipedia, right from a computer.  The librarians on hand at any university or college can walk you through it and be a huge and ready resource.  Instead of wikipedia, you can go to a credible journal, cite that journal and go the references to other sites in the journal and cite those as well.  Then every stop you make during your reading travels will be acceptable in the eyes of instructors who won't accept wikipedia.

That's what I am saying=you haven't wasted any time.  A large majority of students don't take full advantage of their own libraries and don't know how to use them. The topic of compilers that you used, there are sooo many sites that you could have used besides the ones you chose.

I read your post, clearly and you did say everything that you said, but I still am stating that Wikipedia is a time waster, Why go to Wikipedia and get any information?  Because in the end, you are still going to a source outside of Wikipedia to cross check its legitimacy.  I understand your thought process of using Wiki to go "straight to" the sources it cites.  Well if you can use Wiki as a tool to get to the sources Wiki cites, my thought is to just go to those sources through Google if you insist on citing an internet source.

Your School's Library online database has a search engine that will bury Wikipedia and Google and if you any librarian at your university or college they will produce via phone and list of sources you can check out and cite that is longer and higher than you stand tall.  So that's just my question to you?  Anyway I did read your posts and do agree with most of what you have contributed to the thread, I just am surprised at anyone who wastes time on Wikipedia.
