So on one saturday morning, I went out 2 use the ATM close to my house. It was one of those days u wake up with a hangover and u somehow, try 2 justify ur 'misbehaviour' the previous night by getting up early to carry out some house cleaning exercises. I wore a pair of shorts and a rumpled Tee shirt, got into the car and drove straight to the ATM. I had to buy some household items. After driving round looking for the ATM with the least human traffic, I finally found one. Queued up, and got some cash. As I turned to take my leave, I saw a lady that looked familiar. Now, I have a habit, good or bad. But as soon as I spot a familiar face, I walk up straight to u and strike a conversation, and even if u don't recall, I always find a way of reminding u, no fronting. Classmates from prim/secondary school, university, old neighbours, friends of friends, etc. So as I turned from the ATM, I saw dis familiar lady with her hijab on, someone that we sat in same class and were actually friends for 4 years back in our university days. As I wanted 2 walk up to her, she somehow, deliberately turned away and acted as though she didn't see me, or perhaps, didn't want me talking to her. I immediately read the signs and walked away. The alcoholic content in my system didn't even help as I wanted to get the items needed at home and go back to sleep. And as I got to my car and was leaving the bank premises, I noticed her staring at me through the rear mirror. Whatever her reasons for that was her business. Fast forward a couple of weeks later, I was one of the resource persons at an event organized by my office for training various Entrepreneurs in our Entrepreneurship Development Programme for possible funding opportunities for SMEs. This Lady was part of the trainees, yes, the same lady from the ATM incident. So I asked all the trainees to stand, after introducing yourself, your business interests, and background, u could then sit. When it got to her turn, she introduced herself, and at the mention of her background, it was now confirmed. She was indeed my school mate. I asked her if she recognized me, she squeezed (abi na squoze sef) her face, took a second look at me, and started forming the most annoying drama ever known to mankind. "Ooooh! Emma, is dis u? You look different, was it u I saw at d ATM the other time?" At that point, I couldn't take the pretense anymore. I politely asked her to sit, we'll catch up later. It was really awkward. Sorry for the long post guys, I actually saw her again today, and guess where? At the ATM, on a Saturday morning. I was still putting on my shorts, only this time, she walked up to me and said "Hello" |

That's why I said it should be agreed by both parties madam. Why do children bear the man's name as their last name? Because He's the head of the Household (And this is biblical) The wife bears the name of the husband as his wife. If you're married, your name is changed from Miss (which ends with your Father's name) to Mrs (Which ends with ur hubby's name) as a change in status to bear that name of the Head now. Marriage is all about understanding and communication. If that will bring about problems, then the wife shouldn't insist on bearing her Father's name at the detriment of a Peaceful home. If it's not agreed by both parties, then it's not right. These are some of the 'little' issues that can cause marital conflicts. If you're married, you've left your Father and Mother, then you and your spouse are now one. Stop all these modern-day trends in marriages.
