I don't see this as a big issue. This directive had been there for over 3 years. This was just a reminder.
The thing about money, just like water is that it will always find its way.
Let things settle and multiple opportunities will open up. This is a battle the CBN cannot win
Western govts and even china tried but they all succumbed.
The new directive is different. You cannot send or receive money from exchange directly from your Nigeria bank again else your will be blocked by your bank.
P2P seems to be the only available option now to use.

Hmm... what you said here is a huge fallacy. AS are the ones not prone to having Malaria, since the morphology of their Red Blood Cell does not thriving of malaria parasite. The actual reason for the existence of the Sickle Cell trait is that african body system developed the trait in order to adapt to the perenial Malaria diseases. Hence, for her not have fallen sick all this while when her siblings do is a huge indication that she is AS .
You are just saying the same thing that she felt. That she doubted her AA results because she does not often fall sick of malaria. That's why she kept repeating the tests. But all came as AA.

In response to this thread: https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/6391103/undetected-sickle-celler
It is possible the woman is AA, but she's most likely a beta thalassemia carrier, which most Nigerian labs don't test for!
The child inherited a HbS gene from the father and a beta thalassemia gene from the mother.
Here's what is likely going on in the child:
The thalassemic Hb gene from the mother cannot produce any reasonable hemoglobin.
The HbS gene from the father produces sickled hemoglobin.
The end result is the child having sickled hemoglobin in his/her blood, which Nigerian labs would tag SS. But, genetically, the child is HbAS with an inactive (beta thalassemic) HbA component and an active HbS component!
Some of you are wondering why the woman did the SCD test 5x and 2x again during antenatal: Well, someone might have had a hemoglobinopathy (beta thalassemia) in her family, which she, just like any of you here, might have thought was sickle cell anemia. So, she wanted to be sure she doesn't have it. Obviously, she doesn't have the beta thalassemia, but unfortunately, she's a carrier. The point is, SCD is not the only hemoglobinopathy (hereditary blood disorder); there are others like beta thalassemia, which are also recessive. When a carrier of SCD (AS) marries an AA who's a beta thalassemia carrier, they can have an AS child that manifests as SS because the HbA component habeen rendered inactive by the beta thalassemia gene!
Regarding the woman's latest test that showed AS: The result cannot be trusted! The principle of "when you know what you are looking for, that's what you will find" was most likely at play there. It's a very important principle in medicine, which is why in clinical trials to ascertain the effectiveness of a drug, researchers do a double blind randomized study — both the doctor and the patients don't know who's receiving the real drug and who's receiving the placebo so as to remove the effects of biases.
My point is, the lab scientist who did the last test (which was after the child tested positive for sickled hemoglobin) was already biased. S/he knew what they're looking for and that's what s/he gave as the result. I would rather trust the previous 7 tests than trust that last test. To clear the doubt, a new test (possibly HB electrophoresis) must be done by a new lab without prior knowledge of the situation!
@Ishilove, please put this on the front page so that people can learn and stop castigating the woman. She's lucky that she wasn't the AS and her husband AA; if not, she would have been accused of paternity fraud while innocent!
I thank you so much for this professional insight. Let all come and learn.
But did you mean she should actually be AA genotype and not AS as the last test showed?
@Ishilove, come and see oo.

The problem with Nairaland folks is not just ignorance but the refusal to unlearn and relearn.
My brother, thanks for the insight you provided on this matter. God bless you. See how people are calling someone they don't even know evil. Even calling me evil because I'm defending her. We are Christians and close family neighbours and someone from nowhere that dont know us is even cursing us. Even raising all sorts of nonexistent theories like she is fucking out, she went to pastor to change AS to AA for her, etc.
How bad people can be!
Now I now have better information. I gather from her discussion with my wife new angle to it. I think in one of the initial tests she has been informed of beta thalasemia in her blood but because she did not understand as a young girl, she started going to other labs for retest and others gave her the AA results.

Things really got messy last year. I stopped eating her food not because of the genotype issue. I dont sleep on same bed with her again nor make love to her. I said in my earlier statement, I said lots of discoveries later came up.
I have my little penthouse I stay, but do return home cause of the kids, like 2 or 3 times a week. I dont want to go into details, especially on social media.
I had to make a statement on this particular issue cause it is just like my story/experience. I almost lost that boy. You wont believe my wife refused me to take him to the hospital when he was in a serious crisis? She said it was a spiritual attack from my village.
That was the prophecy and revelation given to her in the church. It took courage, wisdom and patience to convince her to let me take him to hospital. She was so adamant and wouldn't let me take him.
Hmm, her saving grace was that she was 7 months pregnant, because I couldn't bear it anymore seeing that little innocent boy in pains. For almost 48hrs she refused to let me take him to the hospital.
God knows if it wasn't for her condition then, the devil would have used me to cause serious havoc on her, because I was already loosing my mind but due to that I'm a very patient person and do tolerate a lot.
God knows how it hurts me to see my home crumble, but for peace to reign, I had to leave home and get another place because I couldn't her nags anymore. There are to my story, but I wont go any further.
Oga calm down. Your wife may have the same case as we are having here which is beta thalasemia. So, don't just conclude and wreck your family yourself. Take her to a very standard hospital/laboratory preferably teaching hospital and get her tested for beta thalasemia. Then you will know what really happened.
Forget all the negative talks of myopic nairaland people. My strong advice.

Nah.. she used the the 7 fake tests as Alibi to try to prove her fake innocence. She had planned from day to blame it on the labs/hospitals.
Nothing of such. And in this case, the fault is from the medical persons. Have you heard of people with beta thalasemia before? Why is it none of the hospitals never asked her to do that test? But when a rare situation like this occur what most of you here will say is negative instead of you to learn about situations in life.

I had similar problem with my Nissan Almera Tino 2001 . Airflow meter, crank shaft sensor and engine. I changed the engine (110k), airflow meter(10k) and and bought a new radiator (12k). Since then (over a year ) my car sound like new. There were times I won't even kick start the car for a month because I have a Toyota Hilux (2019) for work and the engine would start great. The only thing that makes me think of a mechanic is servicing which I don't joke with. Just to add, Nissan is a special breed of vehicle, very different from other cars but durable and more lasting. An experienced Nissan mechanic is difficult to find.
You changed the engine!!! Haba. I'm sure the engine was not bad. Just an electrical fault not detected.

My brother, not that they leave it for God, they will castigate the woman immediately as evil person. They will call you stupid for not even thinking along their line. They will even say you are the husband.
Meanwhile those ones are usually not married, neither do they work in medical field. Just hiding behind their keypad to type out their ignoramus.
