Just like you said, I am private and intend to do a picture diary of the building from scratch to finish which is the more reason why I didnt post the full pic . It is my choice either to come out in full or not because the advice I need is for the roof and not the building itself. My biz, not yours. Thank you for your contribution.

agarawu23:
the way you cropped your house to 0% seems to me you are kinda private. If you need public opinion, you will come out in FULL.

BTW using parapet on a complete roofed house will cost u more and some little damages.

but that means i won't be needing blocks? is it just going to be only columns?

Our security disscussion was on burglary and bulletproof doors while our Nigeria local thieves are upgrading.

How do we prevent the below? Are we going to use two blocks or we are going to increase the thickness of our plastering?

We use double bricks for outdoor here, tho they cant be compared to naija cos they are cheap. It will take the thief days to break in.

agarawu23....Ebenezer Obey sang a song, which said....Security mi o, o nbe lowo Oluwa.
We don't hope to be a target, because there is no hiding place (iyan ogun odun, oshin gbono). We can prevent opportunistic thieves called buglars (that's why we have buglary proof to prevent buglars) not armed robbers.

To your comment sir. In Present Nigeria, there is nothing that can hold down fully armed robbers, assailants or hired assassins if they want to operate. It's only the government that can stop them by deploying special forces to stop them if they are in action.

There used to be a very wealthy man in a neighbourhood where I grew up. I thought the man was involved in a shady deal. Some ppl sent hired assassins to kill him. Their first attempt on him at his residence, he had so many security and safety measures. Unknown to the assassins, maybe he had safety room in his house. He succeeded in killing one of them by himself. Those guys retreated.

They came back on a very neutral day, not fully prepared but they achieved one of their aims by killing the wife of the man when her car at their gate waiting for the gate man to open. They left again.

When they came back the third time at a very relaxed day a couple of months after the second, they came with cans of Petrol ready to burn the house down total in case the owner runs to the safety room again. But as usual he didn't listen to them, he did to his safety room but was killed by the choking smoke from the fire burning the house.

Neighbours couldn't go out because nobody was equipped to counter their superior fire power. It was only this rich guy that could stand them fire for fire, gun for gun but he's inside confined by burning fire.

No police, nothing.

Look at what happened to Raymond Dokpesi a couple of days ago, his police escorts was killed in place of him. He escaped this time maybe next time if there is any he may be unlucky but I pray it doesn't happen.

This is Nigeria, not all the things abroad work here. There is a working system, structure and set standards abroad but none here. If anyone wants to be secured atleast partially, he should get property in one of those highly policed estates that have rules, laws, security and all.

A single person can't do it all alone in a neighbourhood where you don't have your class.

Our discussion was on securing our premises.

Some think burglary is enough.

Some think that Baba God is the only savior.

EgunMogaji preaches levels of defense with each progressively deadlier than the previously encountered one.

Where's the fence?
Where's the local charm?
Where's the Mai Guard?
Where are the other Hausa people that have free rent in the compound?
Where are the Dobermans?
What happened to the security alarm?
Where's the armed homeowner, because I'm not seeing spent shotgun shells and brain matter in the hole from the first and only robber that stuck his head in the hole?

Sure not everyone can afford all of this, but it's about priorities. I bet you that they'll have money for aso ebi and the kids will be in private school.

Most will wring their hands, console the homeowner with "epele o", "olorun afi opo ropo" and the homeowner will respond with "ani fi irue san fun arawa" and then quickly patch up the hole with a "afi sowo olorun".

PS: and we're talking about average joes here because we'll hear elaborate stories of hired assassins not regular opportunistic midnight robbers.

PPS: and for those who have never left Nigeria or did on short vacations but consider themselves expert on foreign countries, we do have home invasion robberies, kidnapping, gang hits, etc here too.

@smiley 001.....this is what makes some areas more expensive than others. That's why people cough out lots of millions to live in a particular area. It's all about security. You can't compare the security level on the Island (ikoyi, V.I, Lekki) to anywhere else in Lagos except Ikeja( Anthony,Magodo, Alausa,Omole). This drives the price of the land up.

HI,
That's why it is fraudulent. why not let people buy immediately? Those buying will like to develop as soon as giving the chance and therefore, the place will develop naturally. But what i suspect is the guys are going to take money and use that funds for developing infrastructure in certain area, then take it up themselves while throwing those that have paid in the back, where they don't plan to develop soon. That's what makes it fraud to me. Im sure they will give allocation, but it will be for my Grandkids!!!

We the citizen must stand united against such sharp practices

segcymoor:

Well, u ve reasoning for urself....it is actually called 'parcharging'

There is many land available for u -'see and buy'
From experience they may not actually fraud u but d 'bush' may not be developed in the next 2 decade.

True talk. it's a mini-ponzy scheme where alot of people lose out eventually.

Please pay for land where you can start building in the next 6 months to a year rather than some dreamland that wont be ready in 2025

Not sure you needed to write this.

I have seen some of your comments on here and you come across as someone respectable so no need to announce this.

Take it easy bros.

Don't take things personal on NL.

My Facebook is by the name xxxxxxxxxx for all who care to see when I have been travelling abroad for vacation. I don't need to stay abroad if I do well here. When I say abroad I mean the white land and countries and FYI I once lived there but not anymore and i can still go anytime I like if I can afford the tickets.

I SHALL DELETE THIS COMMENT IN 30MINS.

Thanks all.
