I don't think so, unless there's another route to the hospital. I went to the hospital through an offshoot from Orlu-Owerri road, not so good tho'. Abagworo: 2 Likes |

Abagworo: This is the Amaigbo road side of the road to IMSUTH. The Old Orlu-Owerri road side of the IMSUTH road is also like this side in the last four years. Didn't you hear demonstrating IMSUTH students last two months or so complaining that the road to their hospital is not motorable for years, and that they had complained to government but no solution? Centje said he went to IMSUTH through an off-shoot road, so he couldn't have seen the two worse entries to the IMSUTH road. 1 Like |

mandax: Nobody will visit Orlu and say Okorocha did nothing or that he paved only 2km of roads. Thats a devilish lie. There is nowhere in Nigeria where 50% of the roads in the State is completely good. Even in FCT you will get a thousand bad roads. My argument has never been that there are zero bad roads but Okorocha turned Orlu from a red semi-urban to an urban area with better layouts, dualised roads with streetlights, better schools and roundabouts. No town of Orlu's level is like that in Igboland. In Imo State the only people to complain should be Okigwe. I was there too and discovered it has only one poorly dualised road with a big shopping complex and nothing more. 1 Like |

More Pictures of Orlu. @ Centje I think we should show both the good and bad sides of Orlu not just the bad sides

Abagworo: A town of Orlu's level? If you are truly from Imo state, you ought to know that in 1976 when Imo state was created, there were little or no differences between the levels of urbanization between Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe. You and your principal seriously believe that a state capital must have all major development infrastructures in a state Okorocha got more votes in Orlu urban local government than from any other local government area. Considering that, the about 2 kilometres urban roads he dualized in Orlu and placed street lamp poles on some trips only a few persons who have not seen dual carriage roads before in Orlu. Or name any other infrastructure from Okorocha government in Orlu? Water supply?. It was Orlu's turn to have the regional water supply project which Ohakim was promising to start. Okorocha knew this but quickly proscribed government supply of pipe borne water when he came in as governor. All we plead with Okorocha government for now is asphalt the roads his contractors scrapped which are sending dust into people's lungs in Orlu in the last four years. |

mandax: Owerri was only 4th behind Onitsha, Aba and Enugu in population but 2nd most important after Onitsha in religion. In of istration Port Harcourt was even under Owerri province just like Orlu, Aba, Umuahia, Ohafia and Okigwe. The old Imo State was created out of Owerri province following removal of Ahoada from Owerri. Only Ebonyi part of Imo was from Ogoja province. Now to Orlu. If the entire stretch of Road done in Orlu area is less than 5km may all my descendants perish but if its more than 2km may all your descendants perish. I say amen to mine which is 5 km say amen to yours. 1 Like |

The Imo state government should think of creating a city out of Mmahu, Egbema. They already have the trappings such as quality roads and layout. What they're lacking is what quasi towns that are not even up to Orlu and Okigwe level possess and that is some level of commercial activity. Mmahu should be made to compete with nearby Omoku in Rivers State.

Abagworo: I told you about near-equal urbanization levels between Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe in 1976 when Imo state was created but you talk about the istrative status of Owerri then and beyond. Is there any correlation between the level of urbanization and istrative status of a town? If there is, Onitsha or Calabar for example, should have been more urbanized today than say, Abuja. Only touts swear with their descendants. Even if the urban roads Okorocha government did in Orlu measure up to 5 kilometres, as you claim, so what? Considering the large expanse of Orlu urban town, that is like a drop of water in the sea. Visit Orlu, its urban roads are mostly fully built on both sides with houses with unpaved roads, but not dangerous because the roads' surfaces were not scrapped and abandoned. Even the many roads built by Udenwa istration and NDDC here are left by Okorocha government to rot away without maintenance. What is being highlighted here and elsewhere is the necessity to save thousands of people in Orlu the possible eruption of lung diseases as they have been inhaling dust from the roads scrapped by Okorocha contractors in the last four years. Centje who recently brought pictures from Orlu sounds like a medical doctor or another sort of health worker, ask him/her the implications for a population subjected to prolonged inhalation of dust from scrapped roads. |

This hopeless old man I have warned you to always avoid mentioning any part of Anambra and its people. Focus on your worthless state and leave us alone. We are not interested in you or wherever you come from because we have nothing in common. Whenever you are held hostage with facts here you will start dragging anything and anybody to drown with you. We will come to camp here real soon to treat your fvck up since you don't want to respect your old age. [s] Abagworo:[/s] |

mandax: Say amen to that if you are not a born liar. Finally list 2 roads done by Udenwa. The NDDC roads were attracted by Nzeribe from my town and Idiga. Nzeribe equally attracted dualisation of Owerri-Onitsha road and repaving of Orlu-Owerri and Ihiala-Anara. Since you people pushed him away no other lawmaker from Orlu zone has attracted such federal presence. |

Afam4eva: You are intelligent and your idea has already been grabbed. http://www.channelstv.com/2015/08/25/imo-state-presents-industrialisation-plan-in-trade-investment-forum/ As contained in a plan presented at a Trade Investment Forum on Monday, the park would be located in Ohaji Egbema and Oguta oil producing areas of the state in eastern Nigeria, with a target to generate about five billion dollars yearly. The three-day Imo Trade Investment Forum is organised by the State government and is holding at the Imo State Trade Investment Centre in Owerri, the Imo State capital. Declaring the Forum open, the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said that the State government had already earmarked 20,000 hectares of land in Ohaji Egbema for the easy take-off of the modern industrial park that will open Imo state to the world. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that within the next four years, his mission and vision remained industrialisation, wealth creation and creation of job opportunities for teaming unemployed youths in the state. The newly completed Imo Trade Centre, the venue for the Forum, came alive on Monday, with business men and investors both foreign and local all gathered to witness the first ever investment forum. During his campaign for a second term in office, Governor Okorocha had emphasised his plan to industrialise the state, with a campaign mantra; “jobs, jobs, jobs; industry, industry, industry, industry; factory, factory, factory”. Since industrialisation and business investment is the main focus of the Forum, the chairman of the Imo State Trade Investment Forum committee, Rex Anunobi and the chairman of the proposed Industrial Park, Innocent Nzuma, reeled out the potentials embedded in Imo State, areas of partnership and the benefits of investing in Imo State. Mr Nzuma, who is also the CEO of Zuma Energy Group, said the Imo Industrial Park when running is capable of generating about five billion dollars for the state annually, especially with the large deposit of gas in Imo state, the presence of the Ohaji Egbema power plant, the proposed Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport and the proximity of Imo State to other commercial states like Onitsha, Aba and Port Harcourt. He urged investors and businessmen, both local and foreign, to take advantage of the proposed park and partner with Imo State on the project that would expectedly boost the economic of the state and the nation at large. Foreign investors at the Forum expressed readiness to do business in the state at the completion of the Park. Agriculture, oil and gas, construction, procurement and logistics, healthcare and education are the basic areas the Trade Investment Forum is focusing on. |

Beremx: It is still outside the town. What is your definition of projects? Check the length of Owerri-Orlu highway all the way to Akokwa. Thats about 55 to 60km. The man has done much for Orlu and should extend to other places like Mbaise. He can dualise Owerri-Mbaise road to Ahiara junction and equally dualize internal roads in Ahiara/Aboh semi-urban with streetlights. Okigwe zone needs same attention at least to Amaraku. |

Afam4eva: Have you been to Oguta? Oguta sprawls to Mgbidi and is quite developed and well organised. What Okorocha can do for us is to dualise the road from Mgbidi to Oguta town with well marked roads. We have the money to invest in tourism sector. We need the resort either completely re -organised or concessioned to a serious investor. NB Oguta is different from Oguta LGA. |

Workers in Imo shut down state over 13 months unpaid salaries and allowances By Maduabuchi | December 2, 2015 Sick of the inability of the state government to pay salaries and allowances for up to 13 months in some cases, angry civil servants in Imo state took to the street in a protest that virtually shut down the state capital Owerri on Tuesday. Governor-Rochas-Okorocha Most of the workers, who wore black attires, a symbol of grief, wept and sang while directing curses at the istration of Governor Rochas Okorocha. “What have we done to Okorocha to deserve his punishment?’ ‘Governor Nebuchadenazar, pay us our salaries,’ ‘Our children are suffering,’ ‘Rochas, the Idi Amin of our time,’ and ‘We have never had it this bad,” where inscribe on the placards some of them were carrying. According to the workers, Okorocha mismanagement of the state resources is responsible for his inability to pay workers. “The judiciary staff are now owed for nine months and the end of their travails appears not yet in sight. We are really in for hard times in this state and the governor is not worried about our plight,” one of the workers said. According to the Vanguard newspaper, workers of the state’s Water Board have not been paid for 12 months; Library Board, eight months; Due Process, nine months; Imo Marketing Board, 10 months; Imo Specialist Hospital, 13 months; Hospital Management Board, nine months, and Imo ADP, 10 months. The State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Austin Chilakpu, said that the workers were left with no choice than to embark of the protest following the repeated failure of the government to honour agreements reached with workers in the past. “The leadership of the NLC had, on November 13, promised workers that the state government would pay their salaries on November 17, based on the agreement it entered into with labour but failed. “This failure on the part of government made the workers to doubt the inability of the organised labour to fight for their rights,” Chilakpu said.
