For a family of 4 I spend close to 200k monthly on just feeding, we can no longer buy food stuffs the house because even if u take like 150k to buy food stuffs, u won't see anything.

I want to know if others are spending more or less and if there's a way around it.

Thanks

For me total including new born baby around 400k.

Remove ur eyes from generator every evening...

Buy only bags of rice or half bags ( Watsap group that buy directly from cheap places)

If ur wife is not working, go to the market urself to buy bulky essentials...most house wives inflat prices to get pocket money.

Lower your love for top brands...

Adopt the use of electric cooker also with gas..but like 80% gas..

Tell ur wife to avoid over cook ND over feeding where children run to toilet immidiately after eating...

I dnt see why 150k won't last one month... except u want to live in a very high lifestyle...like buying fastfood breads for the family instead of equally good open market displayed bread ..etc

Lolll u funny die bro . My light bill alone for a months is 60k. Band A things we never talk of fuel for car , new baby expenses and feeding . I don’t spend anything less than 400 to 500k monthly

Average Nigerian workers with a degree earn less than 400k a month

One thing again, I'll advise someone shift to hot plates and coal pots when cooking Bean's, corn, Palm kernel seeds and anything that takes age to get off the fire, because nowadays even topping up your gas to it's fullest has become something else.

Not for prepaid meter s.

Depends on your home size and standard of living. Do you buy ice-cream, Yoghurt, Suya, Shawarma and Pizza for your kids? Do you go out to playgrounds, Malls and launch out? I do 700k monthly and I know very well my wife adds close to half of that if not more for us to continue as we used to before inflation. This is without cost of fueling cars, paying domestic staffs, electricity and communication bills etc which could sur another 500k. So we should be talking about 1.5 Million devalued Naira as against 300k we spent monthly as at 2022.

Please prioritize your spending ok! Most family now use egg in place of beef and chicken for rice also if your wife is a good home manager, she will reduce the stress on you by proper and prompt planning for instance, every time my wife cooked rice or spaghetti, vegetable sauce will be there and it helps alot.

NB: wives must be appreciated these days because they are really doing there best despite how tough the economy bites(good wives oh!)

To me, the significance lies not in how much money I spend, but in the joy and fulfilment we derive from it. I strive diligently to ensure that my family finds happiness and contentment in whatever I can provide each day, no matter the amount. It’s important to me that we cherish the experiences and moments together, creating memories that overshadow any financial concerns.
Then how much do you use to achieve this?

We are truly in hard times. Sir, if you can squeeze out a budget of 1 million and buy all the dry ingredients in bulk. Thus, monthly, you would spend less than 50k on perishables.

You could buy Rice in bags, meats in bulk (half cow, full goat, etc)
Bulk shopping for 6 months saves cost.

Need I also say that a scale of preference needs to be drafted out and implemented. If I had a family, we would go minimal on cereals because those are actually poisonous to our bodies. That can be replaced with healthier alternatives.

.....that can be replaced with healthier alternatives... please specify. I am curious. Respond sir

150k in one month for family of husband, wife and children?

It is possible but that means the entire family has to skip lunch. A family of 4 on average living will spend nothing less than 7k - 10k per day. Breakfast for the children, money for biscuits, their lunch at school and transportation(if their school is far),alone will cost you 4k or more. A soup of 5k or more can't last you for more than 2 days.

Unlike adult, children are expensive to take care of, and if you don't feed them well, you are only teaching them how to steal or lose concentration at school.

It is not easy at all, majority are just pushing it anyhow with the hope of getting liberated someday.

Approximately 120k monthly, just me, my wife and our one year plus kid.

Bros is this for only feeding or is other expenses included.

If this is how much you spend on monthly upkeep, I would like to know how you do it.

Thank you.

As I said, stop dwelling in the past. Your past heroes are dead. Focus on the present unless you want to wail in the future.

The past is the past. American past leaders built America, the successors continued the legacy. They didn't lay back and live on past glory. They went ahead to make America great. That is America.

Nigeria that the past leaders didn't try as much as those of America is laid back and blaming the past leaders instead of forging ahead. Let Awolowo, Azikwe, Balewa and co. rest in peace. Focus on the dim.wits numb.skull politicians y'all voted for.
