For a family of 4 I spend close to 200k monthly on just feeding, we can no longer buy food stuffs the house because even if u take like 150k to buy food stuffs, u won't see anything.

I want to know if others are spending more or less and if there's a way around it.

Thanks

To me, the significance lies not in how much money I spend, but in the joy and fulfilment we derive from it. I strive diligently to ensure that my family finds happiness and contentment in whatever I can provide each day, no matter the amount. It’s important to me that we cherish the experiences and moments together, creating memories that overshadow any financial concerns.

Just spend as it comes. It's Hard to keep track of actual expenses when it comes to family.

Remove ur eyes from generator every evening...

Buy only bags of rice or half bags ( Watsap group that buy directly from cheap places)

If ur wife is not working, go to the market urself to buy bulky essentials...most house wives inflat prices to get pocket money

Lower your love for top brands...

Adopt the use of electric cooker also with gas..but like 80% gas..

Tell ur wife to avoid over cook ND over feeding where children run to toilet immidiately after eating...

I dnt see why 150k won't last one month... except u want to live in a very high lifestyle...like buying fastfood breads for the family instead of equally good open market displayed bread ..etc

We are truly in hard times. Sir, if you can squeeze out a budget of 1 million and buy all the dry ingredients in bulk. Thus, monthly, you would spend less than 50k on perishables.

You could buy Rice in bags, meats in bulk (half cow, full goat, etc)
Bulk shopping for 6 months saves cost.

Need I also say that a scale of preference needs to be drafted out and implemented. If I had a family, we would go minimal on cereals because those are actually poisonous to our bodies. That can be replaced with healthier alternatives.

Once you can beat this by staying in an area with 15 hours to 20 hours per day electricity you don't know what you are enjoying. Some people spend two times their annual rent on PMS without knowing it when they can just moved to an environment where the light is steady and save more.

God bless all good men out there. May your pockets never run dry and may you get money for a DNA test someday, especially if you married a non-virgin aka borehole. Una dey try!!!!!!!
What do I even know sef aside enlightening my fellow men nationwide with the good news.

Oga the economy is tough, try to double your hustle by going into tech or whatever you think will boost your finances and thank me later.

Despite cutting of costs and many adjustments, we still expend over 500k per month during the school season.

At least 350k per month during the holidays

Just a family of 4 (2 kids), and it is not that we're living large o. E no easy, walahi.

Just little little things the kids take to school everyday like Bobo milk, maltina, noddles and animal proteins cost well over 100k monthly.

Exactly....I second your last statement

This is the time to eat healthy foods and cut off all other needless ones

Your food now should be:

Vegetables
Swallow
Boiled plantain
Beans
Rice
Potatoes
Yam
Eggs
Boiled chicken/meat...no need frying
A lot of fruits

One need to avoid all this fast food junks.....cakes meat pie, fried chicken, ice cream and all

God Bless You Sir 🤗

As for me, i buy all the necessary major foodstuffs, like rice,(alot of times half bags) Bean's, yams, Palm Oils and Vegetables oils five gallon of 3 litres is enough for us for 4 months, sachet Maggie, sachet tomatoes cartons, salt's, i buy dried peppers in large quantities and ground them, i don't buy noodles even when my Wife complains, I just buy yoghurts and some cereals for my baby

I get these stuff's from depot's/warehouse or where it's been sold for wholesale or cheaper prices

As for garri (very much mostly internationally important) i go to the farm, most times we get a bag

When we were having light constantly back then, i do go to the slaughter house and buy maybe 20k meat and put it inside the refrigerator (not now again)

But truth is, i don't spend even up to 50k a month for feeding, because the basics are readily available.

My motto (actually i learnt it from my Father)

EVEN IF MONEY NO DE HAND, SOFA MAKE FOOD DE HOUSE

The one thing that drain's finance now is fuel, and I have parked my car and now I use the ever increasing transport, i don't do Gen, solar got me covered.

One thing again, I'll advise someone shift to hot plates and coal pots when cooking Bean's, corn, Palm kernel seeds and anything that takes age to get off the fire, because nowadays even topping up your gas to it's fullest has become something else.
