It is a shame, for Peter Obi, someone who seeks to be President, to say that a third party is responsible for crisis in his own party! It is public ission of lack of leadership skills!

Peter Obi, whenever he speaks, appears shallow and inept. I still struggle to see the 'thing' his rabid ers find in him.

His commentaries, opinions, and interviews are usually winding, uncoordinated, tepid; and are always bereft of any cogent matter that suggests any form of insight!

His answers are always pedestrian, pandering to the loose talk the average man on the street want to hear.

How could that kind of fellow seek to be President of Nigeria, a very complex, diverse nation?

It's baffling...

When there was trouble in Lagos APC, Tinubu stepped in and didn't ask INEC to resolve the issue. That is taking responsibility! That is leadership. Keep waiting for INEC to come and sort the issues in LP and other parties.

Although you might have a point with naive Obi n elupee But lets face the reality

Tinubu is a strategist, Buhari made him vulnerable 2023 election, now he is in power he wont take chances counting on Nigerians to Vote for him, ahead of 2027 Tinubu is playing a mind game to kill the morale nigerians might have towards that election

Continuous publicizing mass defection to APC is a strategy to make Nigerians lose hope ahead of 2027 n its working, what is happening now is 1st of its kind in Nigeria, the pattern we see now is not different from what we have always seen in Lagos, Tinubu hijacked opposition in Lagos nd even pick their candidate for them via proxy

Tinubu knows Nigerians dont love him, so his best move as always being to alter or cancel real opposition. funsho williams was a real opposition, he couldnt allow

Everything you said are just your thinking, your imagination and your opinion. But I must say that they are baseless

Tinubu is the one publicizing the defection? Are you for real? As in people don't like him? So those who are ing him here on nairaland are not humans?. Those who defend him till today are trees abí?

You guys don't know the enormous power a Nigerian President commands in Nigeria; Nigeria's President is more powerful in Nigeria than an American President is in the US. There is so much power and state resources available to Nigeria's President to use as he pleases.

Once you become Nigeria's President, you can do and undo if you decide to. Goodluck Jonathan was a good man that decided not to use all the Presidential power available to him which Pa Tinubu is using now to the extreme to destabilize every opposition and to buy every buyable Nigerian politician and cashvitists.

If you position yourself very well through proper media visibility as an opposing voice, Tinubu will send his boys to approach you with two options; and get this or refuse and be dealt with, so depending on your integrity and past records, it will be left for you to decide whether to them and get some benefits or refuse and get decimated using state mercenaries and institutions

Don’t waste your time explaining to people with a low IQ. Even though I knew, after I left Nigeria I realized how bad it was. I feel for the sane people dwelling in the midst of people with a shallow brain. It can be quite frustrating. In a sane country Tinubu with his criminal record cannot have the guts to contest for an election. It’s unheard of. Nigeria is where is it today, because the masses are dead in the brain. They don’t understand that Nigeria, currently is worse than a zoo. Nigeria is at same level with a jungle where the powerful feast on the weak. When you say it they start insulting you. An average Nigerian have a shallow mind. They can never understand. Honestly how I wish I can come back to my country. But there is no hope over there. The country is dead as Bleep.

In a sane country the least hourly pay is 24k converted to naira. A day pay is over 200k for even a cleaner. And the funny thing life is very affordable. You cannot be poor unless you choose to. You cannot hear questions like “do you know who I am” because no one is seeing you. Everyone is okay. That’s what we call a working economy.

Nigeria is so bad right now that food which is the least amenities is now more expensive compared to abroad. For instance the prices of Egg, meat, chicken, diary products etc are cheaper here even when converted in same rate with naira.

And in my country people still have the guts to bad leadership. What a shame. Nigeria is hell fire, when you experience life you will understand better. Honestly I wish my country will get better, we have the resources to compete with these countries. But you know the saying you reap what you sow. When you sow hate, tribalism, envy and wickedness you will definitely reap its fruits. Good luck to you guys. Bye

This is very disappointing and infantile coming from Obi
He didn't even blame the APC for the crisis in their party
He's blaming the FG for not helping them to fix the issues in their party
Obi needs to know that the question is a valid question and his answer a wrong one
While everyone knows that the challenges in the opposition are manufactured by the Tinubu political machinery, calling on them to solve it for you shows a lack of steel and resolve to take issues head on. If the party is not giving you what you need, the earlier you leave the party for them the better instead of this buck ing
I am terribly disappointed to be frank

What’s the false equivalence here? Would you promote someone who’s currently underperforming in their job to a higher position? By the way, I’m not against you or your interests—I want the opposition to improve, take responsibility, and hold the government able. But how can that happen if they can’t even get their own house in order?

Which job?

My basis for accusing Tinubu is synonymous to their is no smoke without "Fire" ... for over 20yrs in Lagos No opposition, not even PDP had its house in order

Moving to the central, just under 2yrs we have seen the biggest crumbling of opposition under this Tinubu again .... i dont believe in political coincidences

You have foamed from your mouth a lot of lies that it may just be better for one to leave you to continue to roll around in your vomit.
For the simple minded people l will just point out two wicked falsehood from this irresponsible fellow:

-Ojukwu did not March towards Lagos because he wanted to fight Yorubas or wanted to confiscate Lagos, he marched on Lagos because Lagos was the capital of Nigeria and Biafra was fighting Nigeria. If the war were to have happened today and Ojukwu was still alive, it’s Abuja he will march against and it won’t be because he hates Gwaris.

-all the vital infrastructures in Lagos that made it unique and that offered it the platform to continue to develop at an astronomical rate more than the other states and that made it to continue to attract people from everywhere were mostly built or expanded on during the time of the oil discovery from the now south south; infrastructures like the sea port, FESTAC town, the third mainland bridge, Federal palace hotel, the airports, the barracks, government house, CBN etc. it’s this infrastructures, the sea port especially, that serve as the platform that enable Lagos to get the wealth, big markets, head quarter of companies, embassies etc that set it off on different pedestal than any other state, Abuja inclusive.

Ignore this bigoted delusional post

HmI can confidently interpret you as an IBO or Biafra man who constantly gleans crumps and crisps that fell from the table of a roadside news vendor. If I do not respond to your rubbish, someone might think you have a reasonable and sensible rebuttal to my article. I have carefully read all of your crap to determine your level of political inclination and to gauge your intelligence quotient.
You made a sincere effort to sound pertinent, but your attempts exposed your character and lack of critical thinking. What an unnecessary waste of time! Let me comfort you, however, with this proverb: "In the city of blind people, a one-eye man is their king... and ruler."

The second paragraph of your ridiculous, naive, and obtuse rebuttal states that "[b]Ojukwu marched on Lagos because Lagos was the capital, not because he wanted to fight Yorubas or seize Lagos"[/b. This is among the nonsensical remarks I have made regarding the recent civil war controversy. The declaration of Ojukwu Bulkanization was made in Biafra territory. (East Central Nigeria only), but we witnessed Ojukwu in Ore, Ibadan, strategically sponsoring some IBO to set fire to Yoruba infrastructure in these areas. Some IBO in Lagos planted bombs in some of the city's most well-known locations to cause chaos, but the majority of them were later detained and imprisoned.
Ojukwu intends to use Major Victor Banjo, an Ijebu soldier, to conquer all of Yoruba territory. To be honest, your ridiculous argument is unconvincing. Read and comprehend the letter that Ojukwu wrote to Victor Banjo if you wish to this assertion. Return here so we can examine the letter.

Furthermore, you claimed that Lagos State's growth can be traced back to its previous position as the capital of Nigeria, but this is again false.A well-organized Yoruba land existed prior to the arrival of the colonial master. The bulk of the infrastructure, including WNTN, Lagos Airport, Seaport, and Airport, was Yoruba-built when the military came to forcibly overthrow the regional government and convert it into federal infrastructure under Aguyi Ironsi's rule. Go ahead and this claim.

Dear mischievous and disgruntled fellow, to get to Lagos from the east, an individual or a marching army will till today go through Ore and Benin and that’s what Biafra Army did.
There is no record of Biafra army operations in Ibadan. If they had operated in Ibadan it won’t be an indiscriminate attack on civilians or civilian infrastructures.
To show -not really you but honest observers- how Lagos became the advance and special city it is today is because the British colonizers and business interests chose it to be the capital of United Nigeria one need to note;
1. Other yoruba states are just like most other states in Nigeria and doesn’t look extra like Lagos look today. It’s noteworthy too to know that Lagos was never the capital or close to a main city of Yoruba at anytime before the colonizers, so one cannot argue that it is unique because it attracted special and brilliant yoruba minds that wanted to turn it to a model city.
It’s useful to point out that Ogun and Oyo due to their proximity to Lagos are beginning to do fine. They are enjoying ripples from Lagos development. For example, some companies that have their commercial activities centers in Lagos build their offices in Ogun and Oyo. And there are even people that commutes from this neighboring states to Lagos everyday to tap from the abundant opportunities.

2. Lagos was never among the biggest and advance towns in what is today Nigeria before the European colonizers came. The big cities were;
-Sokoto
-Kano
-Oyo
-Ife
-Benin
-Arochukwu
-Ilorin
-Kazarganmu

To point out the noble intentions of Ojukwu, I will leave here the images of his letter to Adebanjo. An honest person that is not a bigoted annd wretched pathological liar can make their conclusions from it.

To point out the noble intentions of Ojukwu, I will leave here the images of his letter to Adebanjo. An honest person that is not a bigoted annd wretched pathological liar can make their conclusions from it.

Hey, as long as you can, you are free to interpret Ojukwu's, his soldiers', and his IBO people's actions however you see fit. I'm not perturb. According to a common adage, a leopard cannot change its skin. Furthermore, average IBOs are not only crafty but also treacherous.

You mentioned in your post that traveling to Lagos from the Central Eastern States requires ing through Oree, Oyo, and Benin; however, you neglected to mention what the Ojukwu soldiers did upon arriving in Benin and Oree. How unarmed civilians were raped and looted by soldiers in Benin who were trying to take over Lagos State. What a charming evasive method.
Now, speaking from someone with some guerilla warfare experience, let me address this.In his initial broadcast, Ojukwu declared that the central region would become a bulkanized region in order to break away from the Nigerian government, protect the territorial integrity of all IBO land, and provide property to its citizens. His broadcast made no reference to Yoruba land, and it is possible that he intended to seize Lagos State from Yakubu Gowon, the then-current head of state, without endangering the lives or property of any Yoruba residents.

To let you know that the truth is far from you, the northern soldiers killed Ironsi, an IBO man. After the first coup, which was planned and executed by the IBO agenda, I could have expected Ojukwu and his soldiers to besiege the most prominent locations in the north and to retaliate by destroying some of the northern political leader remnants. If the Ibos and their ancestral warlords were cowards, they could have protected their territory and made sure that the Fulani, Hausa, and/or the entire northern caliphate suffered a great loss going forward. However, you are here defending nonsense.
Second, I would disagree with you on the subject of Yoruba land's civilization and infrastructure development because "Res Ipsa loquitur."

Thirdly, you requested that I highlight some of Ojukwu's malevolent intent in the letter he wrote to Major Victor Banjo. Laconically, these are what I have noticed:

As the commander in chief of the Biafra Armed Forces, the author was introduced in paragraph three. With malice in his heart, he wanted Victor, an Ijebu man, to help him lead his Biafra soldiers in the liberation of Yoruba land. As a trained professional, I can say that the interpretation of paragraph 3 speaks for itself.

Additionally, protecting Biafra's "sovereignty" and never being threatened were discussed in paragraph 3 (iii).

Now to expose his actual malign intent, paragraph 3 (iv) abandoned all discussion of Biafra's sovereignty and protection in favor of using Victor Banjo to liberate Yoruba territory. Uninvited freedom. The answer to the question of whether Yorubas needed his military intervention is ABSOLUTELY NO. All of Ojukwu's letters to Victor Banjo in section three (Iv) were unsolicited and help from tribal bigot Ojukwu. You could then see that the Nigerian army, which is dominated by Yoruba, fiercely opposed all of Ojukwu's military interventions in Yoruba. Under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Adekunle, Nigeria soldiers defended the Yoruba and their people, as well as the government infrastructure that held significance for them at the time.

Ask your remnants and ancestors who was Benjamin Adekunle during the Civil War; they will be able to tell you a lot about him.
