Wow!

I understand now. Thanks.

I want to ask.... To install a solar system that will carry almost everything in the home, every essential thing whether it requires high energy or low, what capacity of solar will one be looking at? And can you state the amount in naira too?
Thanks.
thesolutions:

If you can not afford to install solar powered inverter of 7 to 10kva, you might not be able to use your usual home appliances that requires more energy to power. You would have to ration appliances usage or else you damaged the inverter system. You would switch off some appliances when you need to use some appliances with high energy demand and that is not convenient. To avoid this, you would have to switch to low energy variants of those appliances to be on a safe side.

Seems your battery have issues, have been using mine for over 6 months, yet to fill it.
Skyfornia:
You are right, but maintenance, though it's still cheaper.

I fill my inverter batteries with inverter(Distilled) water every month and it cost me N5000 to N10,000 monthly.

I don't know if there's anything I can do to reduce such.

Any advice from the professionals here will help. Thanks

so all this you have mentioned is a case of not doing a proper energy audit and system sizing. I have been fully off-grid for close to a year now and it took me back to the drawing board to do a proper energy and system sizing, I can confidently tell you that i power every appliances normally being powered by NEPA with my Solar energy system, come rain come sun i am having 24 hrs of power in my house.

nurudeen181:

But it doesn't work like that, it can be better though, the important part of a solar system are the s, everything else are a waste of resources but maybe that's what we have now. Solar today is inefficient, it's not replaceable to nepa light, yes nepa light is costly and not stable or reliable but we need stop making people believe solar can replace nepa light now because it cant.
1. When there's no sunlight, no power for you, when sunlight is poor, no stable power, when sun is at it's peak, there's limit to what you can power and the duration it can power you appliances.
2. Affordablility, how many familie can afford a solar system that will power the electronics in their house the way nepa light does even if they'll have to use some at a time and others at other times.
3. Efficiency, the s are mostly doing great work but the charge controllers and the battery is nothing to write home about. Charge battery the whole day and at night, the charge is down and they tell you that you should have reduced load or put it of during the day...
4. Improvement, i thing a good solar generator should be able to produce sufficient power without the battery connected so that the solar generator can produce power during the day while the battery is charging and the batter can take over at night when the sun is no more. My take
And mind you, solar is not environmentally friendly. The batter is destroying the environment. This is a hard truth. The s are fine but the batteries, no way. To make 1mah battery, a lot of destruction of the environment has happened not to talk more of making batteries in kwh. The resources can not sustain the demands. Goto , go to drc, china and see this effects

My battery is 2year and 2months and I have only top it with water 3 times am using luminous tabular battery, you don't need to top the water until it get to the red line at the bottom of the gauge

Lol this yr setup they cashout for yr head 5kva inverter and 5kwh for 2.8millon even if it this year you did yr installation
COMPAQ:

I have 5kva inverter with 5kwh lithium battery.

Everything in my house except washing machine, AC's and oven are connected to it. i even use my microwave with it for short times - like 5mins to warm food or electric kettle to boil water for tea, which is just few minutes.

But things that are on always are fridge, freezer, water dispenser. lights, fan and TV are used as required. Basically I dont think twice ing anything....I just use as I need it and it lasts me about 10hours, so roughly I consume about 0.5kwh every hour.

it cost N2.8mln. I installed this in October 2024. No s.

Why not just ditch all these outdated and cumbersome technologies and go for a more advanced one like the EcoFlow Solar Generators powered by lithium ion batteries. This is what I use and I can recommend it to anyone. 08055532556

He does installations and all for companies and homes. So reason he "begged" me then to do it. Because he had all needed laying in his store

So i reluctantly did it thinking I was helping his life by patronizing his business. Now I am grateful

Which is like how much?

let me help you a little. think of 15000watts battery bank- battery bank varies depending on how much you have; but due large capacity, it's best for you to use a 48 volts system; lets say a 24v 220ah battery x 4 which will give you around 20kw (good for you because of less sunny days). then you now think of solar which must be minimum 25percent of the battery capacity- think of around 5000watts of solar array; maybe a 500watts x 10 assembly, a 120amps charge controller, and a 15kva 48v pure sine inverter. other accessories include; mounting accessories, DC circuit breaker, DC wires, battery rack, AC wires as maybe necessary etc.

Battery bank(tubular) - 1.5m max
s - 1.2m
charge controller - 300k(not sure)
Inverter - 1.2m(varies)
other accessories plus labour 1m (varies)

Approx. Total - 5.2m

Instead of talking on how we will have 24/7 energy, you guys are driving us to Solar. Just like the Cabals in the generators business made sure Nigeria didn't have electricity, the Solar Importers are now doing theirs. If we keep depending on those sources of Energy, stable electricity will forever be a dream
You're right no doubt but who's going to tackle the mafia that has a chokehold on NEPA? Do you think you can try?

Even in countries with the best of electricity supplies,Solar energy generation by individuals is becoming the in thing.
Instead of trying to discourage the adoption of a clean and environmentally friendly source of energy..
It would be best to advocate on how the excess energy generated can be tapped in to the national grid.
