why remand him in prison, he didn't commit constitutional offense, the way people abuse power is alarming, they could have just subjected him to pay huge fine or give him community service for months.....

this is pure nonsense and abuse of power.
Nigeria is really a strange place bro.

Just look at the thing someone carried for 9 months.

You're a fool if you think disposing refuse in public space worth being jailed for, a bigger fool when your so called politician are stealing your future without being punished but s someone being jailed for disposing refuses, ask your brainless skull if that is a constitutional crime...

there's a law called environmental law, if you break that law, the punishment should only be applicable to that law.

Thank God it's not a developer, otherwise, the internet would be flooded with posts about how everyone hates them just because they're developers.

Instead of remanding him, l think he should be asked to cough out a whooping sun of millions from his savings. That will teach him a lot of lessons and serve as a deterrent to others with criminal minds.

That is why Nigeria is backwards. Wron dumping of refuse life imprisonment and politicians looting billions gers bail. undecided

How can a reasonable person put trash at the back of your car, then park? Open the boot, bring out the trash bags, and drop them by the roadside that’s another level of madness. Some people do this in Ikorodu some even go as far as burning the trash. I’m honestly tired, especially when LAWMA comes regularly twice in a month fee 1500 yet some people still turn beside my house to small bollA. De form landlords I talk I done tire yet them no stop this bad behavior

I agree with you bro, this is akin to killing an ant with a sledge-hammer. It goes to show how babaric those in power can be when power-drunk yet these same people would never find a way to jail those responsible for littering our country with corruption which in itself is a greater crime! A fine would have sufficed in this case coupled with community service like you mentioned, this is what is being done in 'saner climes' but you see a lot of us who like quoting 'saner climes' saying that it should be jailed for life in the comments section. Why? Have we lost our sense of humanity that much? What provision has the local and state government made to ensure refuse is being collected by LASMA again in 'saner climes' that is being done at least once a week!

Thats a very stupid thing. Must we take every one to prison? Community service or fines should be enough for offences like this, this is jist nonsense. You remand someone in jail for more than a month for something like this? It's just dumb

What’ a waste
wallrichy: 9:32am On May 22
Community service would have been a perfect punishment. Attach a Lawma supervisor to him and make him to be using his car that he used in littering the area he was caught to be the same car he would be using to carry waste from areas to the dump site. Let him do that for good 4 hours everyday for the next 3 months. That would have been a great lesson..... And he must always wear Lawma coverall while doing this work....

very dumb, wish that man can sue them, there's environmental law for goodness sake.

can't imagine being an ex convict just for disposing refuse.

even in advanced countries, they can't even arrest you for that not to talk of jailing you, last thing, they ask you to pay an inconvenient fine.
tuoyoojo(m): 9:33am On May 22
So it's easy to catch culprits like this,s and you have herdsmen doing TikTok with their faces showing, and nothing can be done to arrest them
F117nighthawk: 9:33am On May 22
We want to see you jail high profile thieves and criminals in government and the society at large, not only ordinary citizens.
Let's have a balanced judiciary for the rich and the poor

You can also commit the crime so you will be able to find out if it's a constitutional law or not

Yoruba people accused Igbos as the cause of the stink in Lagos.

This culprit is Yoruba not Igbo, little wonder it’s not being blown out of proportion.

What does the Nigerian environmental law state? I mean the one peculiar to the Nigerian constitution? Educate us.

The people in authority and the judiciary in this country behave uncivilized. They behave like they aren't exposed or even read what's happening in other climes despite this world of global exposition. They are so eccentric and mentally not balance......

Hope this will deter others from such behavior.
Hopefully.
The only problem is that agberos will soon turn it into a hustling avenue.
They'll lurk around in dark places, spring out if they see you dumping refuse by the road (especially in the early hours) and extort you.
