Thankz for the reaponse. My mother in law is a trader. How much finance can she say she has to prove financial stability forba visit to her aunt and saying shes sponsoring herself.
Ashirioluwa:

For a US visit visa, the applicant's profile is more significant than that of the host, regardless of whether the host is a citizen or a green card holder.

Note that these consular officers are under time constraints, and they want to make quick decisions based on initial impressions of the applicants, not the host.

Since the applicant is the main focus, the visa officers at the US embassy almost never look at the applicant's documents because they are aware that the majority of these documents can be purchased on the streets.

This is another reason why some applicants who claim they are going on vacation and have no family or friends in the US are granted a visa at a higher rate than those who have relatives. They used hotels.

The visa officer focuses more on the applicant's profile and determines the credibility of the applicant within the 2-minute allotted interview time.

For complex cases, the interviews might be longer than the usual time because the applicants' profiles look ok and they ed the initial assessment, but the consular officers need additional information to arrive at their decisions. Interviews in this category can last up to 5 minutes or more.

Hello ,
I had my interview today in Abuja and I was denied

The visa officer asked me why I'm visiting and I said for vacation
She said with my husband I said yes
She asked how many days I said 20 days
She asked where do I work, I told her am a lecturer
My husband works for a multi national oil company
She asked if I have any child in the us I said No. If I know anyone in the us I said no.
She asked me which country have I visited I told her . UAE UK. And I went on to explain to her that I just visited the Uk in December. And squeezed her mouth and just denied herself and not me. 😃😃. They truly do not know persons with genuine reasons to travel

If I may ask do you truly not know anyone in the US? former class mates. friends, any relatives? Its so hard not to know anyone living in the US these days...

They don't really focus on finance. The main thing is home ties. She must convince the visa officer she will come back to Nigeria.

I am unable to use the visa fee that I paid for. It is showing reference number not found. I paid on the 11th of August, 2024. Is anyone still having the same problem? I have raised 3 tickets already.

Is it advisable for both to attend visa appointment together or separately? B1/B2 spouse and F1 and F2(minor).

OyoTunjiUSA:

🤠

* F2 is created for F1-VISA holders , ie wife, children , house help etc, but the only student category who have being more favourable with F2 VISA applications is PhD, followed scantily by Msc.

1. If you are on PhD (especially) or Msc with full fundings , yes F2 will be favourable in this scenario. But if you have less than 100% of funds, your F2 VISA application will be based on your family ability to proof availability of funds for the F1 dependent (s) (F2).

2. Presently, B1/B2 is more favourable, and easier to secure than F2 VISA,
except if, the F2 VISA applicant is a minor, or teenager under adulthood age.

3. F2 visa holder in America is absolutely dependent on F1 visa holder, b/cos f2 visa holder (adult) is not permitted to work, and attend degree or credit award institutions, and 75% of the time, only the change of status of F1 VISA holders in the USA can also change the status of F2 visa holders.

4. B1/B2 VISA holder , who is visiting his or her F1 partner in the USA may decide to change VISA status outside the control of F1 VISA holder, he or she can look for work, process school ission etc, and process the necessary CHANGE OF VISA status request.

PS : B1/B2 wins. But it depends on your present situation.

🙏

Hi, is the standard processing for IW now “Refused” status right after “Application Received”?. My mum’s status was updated to “Refused” on the 14th. The status message further read that the refusal status might be for istrative processing, which means the case could later be adjudicated after the istrative processing is completed (I guess that’s what happened with @Dixoxoxo’s case who was later approved without being interviewed).

Of the cases you know of that were updated on the 14th, do you know anyone whose IW status was updated to “approved” or “issued”?. Thanks!

** It's goes to your choice but the above scenario can only work for the woman (the wife) as the principal applicant.

** Let's simulate that the wife (principal applicant) is applying for F1 visa with her daughter (as the F2) , and the husband is applying for B1/B2 (visitor) to attend a conference or negotiate a business contract in America then upon finalization he (the husband) will check on the family' (wife & daughter) in school , why not ? They can all apply together. 👍

I don't think it is the standard processing with IW, no case is the same, every case is unique. Maybe we should say it is now becoming common. Have two people who were approved on the 14th while two others had their case updated on the same day but still showing application received.

Hello, please if a parent who is supposed to travel with minors is denied and if the minors on their own seperate interview date do not show up will that be considered as being Denied or what can happen in such case ?

Also what are the chances of such minors in getting the USA Visa if the supposed accompanying parent is denied ?

Hello Uchee.

Any U.S. visa interview you missed without notifying the U.S..embassy (by email, raising a ticket, rescheduling etc) will be counted as a deliberate action and that means you will reapply for the visa by acquiring another visa fee a k.a mrv (but not counted as denied). This situation is called no-show"

Your 2nd question will be liken to a woman who was going to purchase some foodstuffs at the market but lost the money on her way. Therefore, every F2s or dependent's purchasing power (to secure a visa) is the principal applicant's visa success.

Although, the principal applicant's visa denial does not automatically affects the continuation of the dependent visa process, but the probability of the issuance of such visas is very very low (without the visa-success of the principal applicant). 👍

Feranmie.
Follow the format of your first phone number . For example if your first phone number starts from 08023... Then find a phone number that starts with 080 and write it in your secondary phone number . May be you have put a phone number that starts with 070 or 091 ?
** Again if there is +234 in the beginning of the first phone then you have to add it to the beginning of the second phone number . Just follow the way you wrote the first number. 👍

Hello everyone. My visa appointment is coming up in a few months and i noticed one the list of documents required to bring to the embassy on that day, i would need a DS-160 form completed and submitted not more than 6 months ago.
I submitted mine over a year ago and i don't know how to update it. I sent a ticket request but they only responded by saying i should attach the new form i want attached to my profile.
My questions are:

1) Can i go for my appointment with the form i filled over a year ago?
2) If the answer to the 1st question is "no", how do i get a new form?

Thank you for your help!

2) If the answer to the 1st question is "no", how do i get a new form? Fill a new form and raise a ticket to get the code changed on your interview appointment letter. The code on your DS 160 must be the same code on your interview appointment letter.

Thank you for your help!

Hello Preshy.
This is a Soliloquy. Post your transcripts so that competent people can guide you. U.S. embassy is not a respecter of any citizen (either rich or poor) except some exclusive government office holders.

The philosophy is everyone going to the U.S. embassy for visa is qualified but visas cannot be given to everybody. Therefore, once you are not able to convince the visa officer then you have more homework to do.

Attend your visa interview as a commonplace citizen & request for the visa with humbleness. Ciao 👍

As how?

At this point! Because it’s giving madness with these officers who checkout people’s applications. On another note I will not blame them because our economy is nothing to write home about.
My mom submitted for IW today, waiting to see what the timeframe will be for renewal, fingers crossed.

Even with home ties sef it depends on their mood.

Not an issue. Just take your new port to the interview as most IW applicants attend interviews these days.

I appreciate the good istrative job you are doing here and thank you for reaching out to me.

** You see, some visa applicants focus on their achievements ie travel history, family or personal wealth, educational achievements, connections, personal unique skills etc and approach or communicate with the consular as a different or special applicant thus presenting them to the consular as braggarts.

Consular officers have the absolute decision, even they have the right to decide visa outcome based on their personal moods. Thus presenting yourself as an exclusive being Infront of a visa officer is an obvious red-flag.

Americans believe in Equal Opportunity For All so no one should feel special when seeking for visa. 👍
