I HAVE 54M AT THE MOMENT THAT I OWN AND I CAN EASLY WORK TOWARDS THE REMAINING BUT I HAVE BEEN RELUNCTANT TO EVEN DO ANYTHING AFTER THE NEW POLICIES

INFACT I AM NOT SURE IF I WILL BE PROCEEDING WITH THE PLANS

I understand the shock that comes with the new policies and everything…but I want you to know this “everything you’re looking for is at the other side of fear”
If you’re courageous and you believe in yourself, you will definitely scale through…
Amidst the policies are still opportunities,it’s left for you to see the good in your journey…whether you take the risk or not, life will still go on but one thing is assured, the system will not give you the same opportunity it gave you this year next year
People who procrastinated about traveling last year are regretting this year for one reason or the other and you never can tell what next year holds so be strong and take a step…I hope this helps

I think the person you quoted is just being realistic given the current situation on ground.

If they've done a cost benefit analysis and they're on the losing end, it makes sense to rethink the journey. That's wisdom too.

Why are people not targeting the top 10 UK schools?

The cost or not meeting the entry requirements?

Some of them offer scholarships too.

I'm just curious 🤔

When people see japa as the end rather than a means to an end, that is the result. Two, these are way older people who want to japa by all means, so any way na way. Three, even elite UK universities' int'l students are left dry after graduation. Some succeed, others are just there like the LinkedIn profile of an Imperial College grad (Nigerian) wey dey do internship after internship after graduation. Four, the UK has one of the few scholarships for int'l students, all of which are highly competitive. Some are not even full (tuition + living expenses).

There is an update regarding the payment structure for the Master of Research (MRes) program at the University of Bolton, effective from the September 2025 intake.

New Tuition Fee Collection Scheme:

Deposit: £5,000 (payable in advance)

Payment at Enrolment: £5,000

Balance Payment: The remaining balance, after any applicable scholarship deductions, can be paid either in full or in six equal monthly instalments through a recurring card payment arrangement.

This new scheme is designed to offer greater flexibility to students while maintaining compliance with the University’s financial policies. We encourage all applicants to familiarize themselves with this updated payment schedule and ensure compliance to avoid any disruptions in the enrolment process.

The only thing i can assure you is the cost of living but in of jobs availability, International students can work part-time during term time, with a limit of 20 hours per week.

I experienced that in 2023; my UK visa and family, started on the 25th of that month. The Qatar flight from Nigeria departed at 10am on the 24th from Nigeria to arrive in the UK on the 25th at 6am. You will NOT have a problem with boarding Qatar flight and staff on that day.

But at almost the last point of the Nigeria immigration side, they would try everything to frustrate and extort you (telling you, Why do you want to exit Nigeria when your UK visa has not started?; telling lies their like their system flagging it, would not allow them to check you out....bla..bla... they would ask you to come back the next day, your visa start date. Though I strongly disagreed with their story and was very adamant not to give them a dime, they still delayed and extorted 10k from family of 5 at that point.... we were never expecting there could be this kind of extortion. Hope they would have changed now. you may prepare against this.

Thanks a lot for your response. I will keep that in mind.

Good evening everyone. I just received an unconditional offer for Msc from Cardiff Metropolitan now after meeting all conditions last week.
I am asked to make a deposit payment for CAS. Please, does anyone know what the current pounds to naira rate is today? As I plan on going to the bank for the payment.
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.. but where do they sleep? Is there a temporary accommodation in the school that you can the night ?

You have to consider cost of transportation and accommodation.

Then consider salary you will be paid.

Do the plus and minus to know what works for you.

Good day everyone. Please I would appreciate some input on this; Between Univeristy of Roehampton and UWE Bristol, which would you advise I go for? Considering the cost of living and tuition deposit for both.

Roehampton is in London, while UWE is in Bristol. Bristol is a little expensive but London is more expensive.

Do more research to know what works best for you.

- Immigration surcharge is increasing by over 30%, potentially deterring employers from taking in international candidates
- They are contemplating reducing the post-study period by 6 months. Less time to find a job
- Int'l graduates to be restricted from jobs with requirements below the graduate qualification..so jobs like care and possibly some social care roles are off the table.
- Minimum salary requirements are expected to increase further above the average UK wage
- Employers must show strong evidence they tried to recruit locally and invested in training before they can take on Int'l graduates

The general direction is to make it harder for int'l students to stay after their studies......in other words, they want your tuition money but will prefer you leave after your studies.
If they should implement everything above, it means more than 90% of graduates will return to their home country after postgraduate visa stay.
