On the contrary, you did not read the full rules and regulations before before allowing her to uote author=mastermaestro post=135313403] Even if it was ed into law, then Jamb should refund every penny it took for every underage applicant. These applicants did not falsify their age at the point of registration. My niece is crying at home as I speak. She is fifteen. The same with my nephew who is also her age mate. Jamb should not have accepted their application in the first instance. This is fraud! They just used the kids to generate revenue for themselves. The Black race hates transparency and light. They love darkness and wickedness. This country nor fit get head again. ![]() |

Let's call a spade a spade. As at 2024 JAMB made it known that the least age to be considered for ission is 16. And I totally agree with the body because WTH will a 15yr be in school? No matter how intelligent you are, a child needs to be mentally matured before entering the university in other to make uniform decisions and know the gangs to flow with because, mummy and daddy won't be there to take his or her hand any longer. JAMB is even being fair because in the US, 18 is the age for college. They believe a child must be a legal adult before entering college because only then, can they cope. You complaining that your ward is 15, did you follow the standard process? No. Were you aware of the age barrier? Yes. But still yet you decide to go to the Lion's cage. Now you're crying because you were bitten what did you expect? Warm hugs? If a child starts kindergarten at age 2 as its acceptable, finishes all 3yrs plus 6yrs in primary school and also 6yrs in secondary school, then that child should be 17 even if he or she decides to write UTME while in SSS3. But no parents want their wards to skip KG3, skip PRY6, skip J3 and also skip S3, that's removing 4yrs making their wards about 14. Now if you fall under this category, rather than forcing the young child to write UTME, take him to any computer school if they like or to find something doing while they await the right age. Rules are rules. We shouldn't pick which to abide and abide not to and then complain when punishment is given to the law breakers. |

For those who are interested in learning how to code, you can use CS50 from Harvard University. This is a semester course for 100-level students at Harvard University. It is updated every year. It is freely available on Youtube 2 Likes 1 Share |

dettolgel: Going by your reasoning...........Jamb should be prosecuted for breaking the law. They received money from an underaged candidate. They went further to allow him take the exam. They owe the boy his results or they should refund his money. |

lovelybobo:You might want to consider a more broader course for him for the following reasons 1. Anyone can be a software engineer, it's one of those skills where your sch certificate have little to no impact, He's a brilliant boy, why tire tech skill he can learn for 2 years to sch? 2. Software engineer in a Nigeria university is not marketable anywhere, they'll likely frustrate them with lots of irrelevant courses. Note that Nigerian talents face discrimination in remote jobs 3. Why not study computer science which encomes alot. The field of software engineering is very dynamic and changes alot. The bubble is gradually busting too with coming of AI which will continue to reduce the workforce. People who study computer science during the boom 2020 graduated this year and are already crying. Search the Internet. 4. You study engineering, petroleum engineering, if his brilliant why limit him to a branch of CS? What if in future he wants to go for masters or explore other areas of tech. 5. A brilliant student can be messed with Nigeria factors. A specialized course like this shouldnt be study in Nigeria. why not seek ission abroad. Low popularity of the course can affect him in many areas like Jobs, undergraduate Scholarship which mostly favour medical and engineering students. |

Blissfularray: JAMB didn't receive money from the boy rather from a 3rd party agent that acted as intermediary. JAMB has a rule and the parents are aware of it and broke it. The only thing that could happen to JAMB is a fine for not having a robust system to prevent such candidates from ing. In fact, JAMB should update their system to ensure that once you enter your date of birth and it is below the limit automatically you can not proceed with registration. For the sake of argument let us assume that JAMB broke the law by collecting his money that doesn't automatically free the parents from their own obligations to the law. |

Joanlucky234:Any hope about this? Did you later found a solution? |
saysoo: 10:58am On May 16 |
dettolgel:JAMB protected themselves by providing a consent and agreement documents that underaged will sign before proceeding to . The parents already did this before ing. I think a ban is applicable to any underaged Candidate that do not score JAMB approved score for them. Please confirm this info first. |

dettolgel: An intelligent surmise here. The real crisis lies in the bolded. JAMB failed through its lack of an appropriate mechanism. The parents were only trying to beat the system. They could have appealed to the President or His wife and they could have generated public opinion in their favour if the child ed exceedingly well. These things cannot be so difficult. If JAMB had done the needful then this would not even arise. Efficiency begins with the building and installation of robust systemic frameworks. 1 Like |

@dettolgel which rule are you talking about? Cropping off Oct-Dec 2009. Next year they will be 17 years. Denying them to participate when they were 16 years. And wasting a whole 1 year due to a draconian rule.

DozisCON: The law is the law. For instance some including me consider NYSC as a waste of one year. The law is the law, I had to do it. We may not like it, the law may not be perfect as long as it hasn't been change we have no choice than to abide by it. Or you can write to your representative let them do something about it. Meanwhile, let me ask you, if you allow him or her because they are 16 and only 1 year inbetween what are you going to do about the 15 years old that has just one year inbetween them and those that are 16? For them you will be wasting 2 years of their lives. What about those that are 14, 3 years of their lives. At what point are you going to draw the line? |

JAMB is particular about completing Basic Educational Requirements which culminates with writing BECE (Junior WAEC) in JS3. @Neconigeria that conducts this exam does not underaged students. If that's the case, JAMB can liase with @Neconigeria in flagging out students that didn't complete their Basic Educational Requirements instead cropping off Oct-Dec 2009 there by making these ones to be eligible when they are 17
